Back in the '80s Tampa area talk host Bob Lassiter refereed a match featuring the Fabulous Moolah. After raising her hand he did the old reversal DQ and she beat the hell out him and he was off the air for a week.

WWE spends a ton of money on local radio to promote their live events. They always do a lot of + Rock format, like 98 Rock in Tampa. To me, that was the demo during the Attitude Era. Today, you have to wonder if there's a better way to spend money on local promotion.

Keith Barbaro ya. Here in Winnipeg they always give away a few tickets for whatever live event is taking place. My buddy's kid won some 2 or 3 years back and i took him hahaha. He's like "I don't wanna see that shit" i jumped at the chance. Ain't been to a WWE event since 2001. Undertaker vs RVD in a cage match. Brock Lesnar was the first match...

Today the WWE uses the $500 "experience" tickets to barter with radio. They will give Clear Channel 30 tickets @ $500 and get $15,000 in trade, plus all the cash they already spend. This results in WWE running a ton of spots on Rock, Country, Sports Talk, and Top 40. Oddly in Tampa the WWE runs almost no localized spots on RAW on Spectrum/Time Warner. They have really put all their bets on radio.

around here they advertise on the Hip Hop stations, believe it or not. usually, some superstar appears on air for an hour or two and they give away a couple of free tickets ect.

@ckreepy Jones Hip hop makes sense. Spanish radio would too. I know they have done Amor in NYC in the past. Believe it or not, TNA always had radio sponsors for their live events. I've seen Hip Hop, Sports, Rock, and Country all at their shows. Tonight I finally saw just one local spot in Tampa for Amalie Arena announcing Cena vs AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal.

I actually have a minor wrestling/radio story. In the lean days before the old man passed. We had shut our satellite down. Old man went antenna tv route. ,I went ps3 and 360. But usually had sports radio on for back ground chatter. So dudes doing his sports radio schtick. Says "okay just been handed some breaking news. Let's see"to "is this a joke?" he says ................. "cause I'm not reading that. This is a sport show" ......,............. fine! Yes folks terrible news just came through. WWF wrestler the undertaker lost a match tonight.Were going to cut to a break will be back top of the hour hopefully with something people might be interested in.....So as I'm coming to the conclusion I've watched my last live matches so didn't really hear anything after "under taker lost a match" statement. Came back after the break.... except they didn't not right away at least. Bumper music made it past the loop point. Finally he comes back. "People I am not the call screener. The young man screening is not me. You're cussing the guy who wanted me to tell the news in the first place. I'm sorry I took that position." lol Guy couldn't take another call for the night because of pissed off wrestling fans were jamming the phone lines.

Someone pull him away from the mic or his phone or whatever it is! All I hear is his mouth breathing nose talking sounds like a bad cold voice. His constant air taking through the mouth and nasal discharge is maddening!
