a little thing about Heimerdinger, he's a Yordle and therefore there's every chance that he's still alive - they're creatures of the spirit realm and apparently can't die. he knew what he was doing and probably zapped back to the spirit realm - he'll probably reappear in Bandle City (secretive home of the Yordles in Runeterra) at some point :)

That would be lame, his arc was fantastic and finished, and his death was poignant. We don’t always need to bring characters back. It vastly lowers the stakes. They already brought back Vander.

@@podefunder I'm assuming she's already done so I'm typing this... but Riot doesn't want their characters just to be dead in these series. Specifically though, with heimerdinger, that's quite literally just the lore of his race.. how they are spirits and how they return to a spiritual home if they die. But even with Jinx, we can see at the very end of the series how there are a ton of hints of Jinx still being alive, even with people like Jayce/Viktor we don't technically know what happened to them when they disappeared. They don't want to permanently kill off characters that are apart of League of Legends, so they can use them potentially in the future. The only half caveat to this is Ambessa, but she was added to league after Arcane so it doesn't really count. No amount of "that would be lame" is changing just how stuff is already

Probably the best episode of the show. You were saying that you wanted to find out about Ekko. It seems that he was inserted into the life of an alternate version of himself. Welcome back dearie! A little curiosity that I think you'll like: the dancing scene between Ekko and Powder is animated in 4 frames per second, a little nod to the 4 seconds limit of their contraption, that is also how much time he can go back in the videogame. It was made this way "to show how much stuff can happen in only 4 seconds" and how much his perspective on the present is changing. A thing that his charcater has always been coupled with is the concept of "every second matters, and if you can't get the best out of it, you don't deserve even a second more". And I think (but I'm not sure) that the song is also in the "4/4 time signature". Just to add to it all.

Good news about Heimerdinger, he's a Yordle and for Yordles death is just an inconvenience. When they die they just appear back in Bandle City, the place of origin of their race. So while it is very likely that we won't see him anymore in Arcane he's still around. Also nice "Angel" reference at 12:32

It's very hard for Ekko to see Jinx (Powder) at this point because the last time he saw her was their fight on the bridge, where he thought she was dead. He has no idea Jinx in his reality is still alive.

I don't think that's entirely accurate. After their fight on the bridge you don't think Ekko found about who was still causing mayhem? You don't think he heard about who blew the council to pieces? How all of Piltover wants Jinx captured? He knows she is alive, just that she is absolutely gone for him and he despises what she turned into.

A couple of fun bits of trivia about this episode (and maybe some less fun). The lyrics of Heimerdinger's song are foreshadowing to the rest of the episode. Also, Heimerdinger's race, the Yordles, are effectively immortal in Runeterra lore. "Dying" causes them to be resurrected back in their home realm, Heimerdinger should be fine after this, but trapped in that alternate timeline. Alternate Powder has the rest of the original Hexgems and all of the notes that they wrote in order to create the device, she may be able to recreate it. The dance scene is animated at 4 fps in reference to the 4 second rule of the device, also many of Ekko's previous appearances in the show have little nods to that rule. For instance, his first appearance is only 4 seconds long. And in a sad note, the creators have stated that in the only timeline without Vi, both Vi and Cait are dead. This implies that in the lab explosion during the heist, both Vi and Cait are killed and this is why Hextech never happens.

I imagine the course of events was something like: The kids went on the job but there was the explosion that (this time) killed Vi. Jayce was then exiled. Not just for messing with hextech, but that in doing so, a young girl from the undercity was killed. Jayce was also then not around to prevent Victor from killing himself. The death of Vi would likely have brought Vander and Silco back together. Who then pushed to have Zaun recognized by Piltover with their combined efforts. Also without Hextech, Piltover never became as wealthy. So with a more modest economy and Zaun being more upstanding, the wealth disparity and harsh policing didn't develop. Leading to a more equal and unified city. Caitlyn would likely have just stayed as a noble, maybe also joining the council.

Viktor only tried to kill himself after the incident with the hexcore and Sky, it was Jayce who was going to do it first. I think what's more likely is that he just succumbed to his disease, especially without something like hextech to keep driving him. Everything else seems spot on, except what someone else mentioned about Heimer being there 3+ years earlier to advocate for Zaun.
