Well it depends on the medium. In moba’s you need a character who has a distinct look and personality so they’re recognizable at a glance, even more so with a game like league with 150+ characters. While arcane’s Vi looks better in a realistic setting, if you use her promotional moba skin she’s hard to see and less recognizable. Same with all the other members, besides Ekko, who really just looks better.

Yeah, not just the execution is better than in the game, obviously - as the previous answers already stated. But also the concepts themselves. I think one can see that some years have passed and the male gaze (of the creators as well as that of the game's male target audience) was less dominant in Arcane's character design decisions - which is great. I like both versions a lot - esp Jinx's.

She was what is called a manic pixie dream girl. A crazy woman that has links to symptoms of various mental illness and likes to cause criminal level harm. These characters are not usually made with the intent of seriously representing mental instability and illness. As you said, they're made to be funny and entertaining. In Arcane, people with schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder said they related to her, outside of the artistic depiction of hallucinations, which means it was done very well

I don't think that's the case. Ekko, for ex, is 16 in game but his version of Arcane is currently 19-20. Meanwhile I heard Jinx is suppose to be older than him in game, but in the series she's a little younger, so they definitely changed stuff from the game

That's because it's not an Origin Story. It just happens Years before League itself. "Arcane" was originally meant to be an Origin Story for all those Characters, but at some point during production, they decided to just make a Story that happens in the Past. The Characters' Backstories are either a lot different or slightly different, than their Backstories in the Main LoL Universe. The Events are also happening differently and some didn't happen at all. For example: - The reason Caitlin became a Guard in the Main Universe, was because Jinx and her Gang captured Cait's Parents, and so she joined the Guard to save them; whereas in the Show, she became a Guard because she wanted to do so ever since she was just a kid. - Vi's and Jinx's Backstories are completely different, as in the Main Universe they were Orphans that were found in a Burning Orphanage (Vi was found by someone, and Jinx was taken away earlier by someone else) and they also didn't know they are Sisters; whereas in "Arcane" they not only always were Sisters, they also grew up together with their Parents (and rest is the Show's Events). - then you have things, such as Hextech itself. In the Main Universe, it was created by House Ferros, and was in use years before Jayce went into a picture; whereas in the Show, it's Jayce and Viktor who created Hextech and the Hex-Gates. - in the Main Universe, neither Jayce nor Caitlin's Parent weren't ever on the Council (Jayce was just an Inventor under a patronage of House Ferros), and instead it's a Member of House Ferros that is on the Council; whereas in the Show, Jayce and Caitlin's Mother are on the Council, and House Ferros is never actually mentioned. The Show itself is its own Universe, and isn't actually Canon to the Main LoL Universe. It's just based on it.

KEEP IN MIND: These animations were made before Arcanes release. It would be so cool if we got future Riot animations that carried on the unique facial features of the animated series! (I admit Vi already looks really good in the two and I can see her “face” in both versions clearly. It seems like the animators of Warriors were able to loosely reference Arcane before it’s launch. And for some reason, Jinx will always look like Jinx but now we have more of a detailed reference 😂)

What cinematic creators for games seem to not understand very often is that movement is the thing that sells it. Extremely high res, high detail character models can never cover up animation that doesn’t do it justice. Arcane looks like a cartoon by comparison, and yet it looks infinitely better because it has a consistent art style with incredible animation.

I think it would be a smart move to make a borderlands/arcane art style story game. I know little to nothing of league but from what I’ve seen it’s an arena type combat game with mindless action. I will likely never play the game for a multitude of reasons. However, as I said I think it would be a smart move to turn the arcane series into a borderlands semi open world steampunk style game. First person or third. Either way the league lore is very interesting and there is much to explore

One thing I think is so cool it that they kind of added like... weight to Vi's gauntlets in Arcane. Like, in Lol, she moves around as if they weigh nothing, but in Arcane, when she wears gauntlets, instead of her usual sharp, accurate, punches, she does these wild haymaker swings that nearly lift her off her feet sometimes. Like, compare the way she fights when she's fighting Sevika, and the way she fights on the bridge (and Sevika fight 2)

It’s also important to know that arcane isn’t necessarily canon to LoL and I also believe that in game jinx in in her early 20s and in the show she’s about 16. I also believe that Vi is mid 20s in game and maybe 17 18 in arcane. I’m sort of unsure about her age in show, I’ve only really looked into jinx heavily as of rn. But ya I hope they stick with them long enough so I can see they’re progression in character design.

@@jaew.3974 It’s labeled as such yes, so I corrected that. But in the game Vi doesn’t know jinx is her sister. She also got her (I’m forgetting the word) metal gloves a different way as well. Caitlyn didn’t even want to be a cop until her parents were kidnapped. And a lot of other small plot holes. I should more say that the game vs the show have plot holes or things that have not been addressed. I’m guessing season 2 will maybe explain why Vi doesn’t know jinx is her sister but it’s just stuff like that I mean when I previously said it’s not necessarily canon.

@@arianabutler ahhh okay, yeah I’ve never played the game as I’m not into the types of games that are formatted like LoL, I personally prefer fps games and other things. But I’ve been getting into the Lore and learning more about the stories of the legends (including those who were not seen in Arcane). That’s interesting to know then, I hope that they do address that. Although, it happens a lot when things are taken from games, books, etc and turned into shows/movies. They might’ve just wanted to mold the plot a little more to make it make more sense to what they’re trying to convey in the show, or they may have had to change some things in order for them to be able to fit certain details into the show. On a side note though, them not knowing that they’re sisters in LoL explains the confusion about whether they’re biological siblings or not. I was wondering why it was even a debate after watching arcane but now I kinda know why.

She was originally a Piltover Guard* and mostly a Freelancer with Vi. Her Design changed later because she became a Guard Captain. But that's an Alternate Skin. And yes - the original idea was in fact a "Steam-Punk Doll." *"Enforcers" are only in the Show; they have a different name in the Game's Lore.

Ekko in Arcane is much better his dreadlocks / hair is a massive improvement also the face in general seems better I honestly love VI's design in Arcane its more human / natural the pink hair seems so weird and the mechanical parts of her armour seems weird Vi always uses her natural Brute strength to fight shes never been tech savvy or an engineer.. it doesnt suit the character how she's got googles and armour plating on her outfit in the default one the massive VI letters are annoying to look at too.. im glad they downsized that in Arcane so its like a normal sized natural face tattoo and not this giant hideous tattoo

About the "Mechanical stuff." She's not an engineer in the Game's Lore. She still uses her Brute Strenght. She was given that Exo-Skeleton when she joined the Piltover Guard to work alongside Caitlin. Exo-Skeleton is to protect her and make her even stronger. Her Game's Design makes a lot of sense, if you know her Backstory. Because what we see in the Show is NOT her Backstory in the Game. *because the Show isn't Canon to the Game. It's in a Seperate Universe of its own.

It's because he is kind of a "Punk" in the Game's Lore. He defies his Parents by constantly getting into trouble in Zaun, when he lives in Piltover. In the Show's he's an Orphan, and they needed a Hair Style that would be way easier to animate.

Do League of Legend is a real game like Skyrim or Fallout with a story and something to do or is just a little cellphone game who consist to collect charater and spend money ? Cuz I only know the the cellphone(tablet) game and I try to found more, on Steam I saw a 2D game with EKKO as hero, but where come from all animation with Jinx, Ekko or Vi ?

LoL is neither of those two, it's just a MOBA. Not a RPG game and not a cellphone game about unlocking stuff and spending money (unless you mean skin shop is online phone game and so every f2p pc games are "cellphone games" to you). It's not on Steam either, you have to download it from Riot's own website And the fakely "In Game" animations the video shows are animated shorts on League of Legends YT channels. Those are however nearer to the characters' basic look ingame than Arcane, for what the comparison is worth
