the thing about fiddlesticks is he's an ancient demon that vanish for a very long time. and when he's back he can't understand and speak human language even animals. fiddlestick can't understand the meaning behind the words they said. but he feels their fear when he hears those words. so he tries to mimic those same exact words because that will remind them of what they fear.

I get why Don doesn't find Fiddlesticks Voiceline cool or interesting. but I'm sure the more he deep dive into other characters lore and story the more he acknowledge fiddlesticks voiceline. for example his quote to miss fortune "Hide Sarah Hide" struck me so hard because I know who said that exact word to miss fortune that's her mother's last words before Gankplank murder her while sarah fortune hides and watch her mother getting murdered and all she can do is hide. ofcourse don doesn't get the same feeling but give him time and just enjoy what he's doing.

They put all of the interactions together because Fiddlesticks was updated fairly recently (2020, he was originally introduced in 2009), all the new content for him came out at once, as opposed to the Surprise Party skin being released later. An important thing to note; in LoL most skins are treated as alternate universe versions of the character (though there are some just showing them at different points in their lives, like Freljord Sylas and Rune Wars Volibear). It's a bit like "Into the Spiderverse" with it's different characters that are all still "Spider-man". So the Surprise Party version of Fid has vocal cords and is generally more intelligent than the one in the main, Runeterra storyline. Also, Surprise Party Fid is in the 2nd most expensive tier of skins to buy, so they put a lot of effort into the voice and effects on it.

The creepy clown thing makes sense, but Fiddlesticks LITERALLY doesn't have vocal cords. Let me break it down like this. Fiddlesticks is a primal demon. He has been there since the beginning of the world's creation. He is ancient, but he's sorta like a caveman. He never had the opportunity to learn to speak until Humanity rolled around. It's like trying to teach a Caveman english, he uses what he hears. And he found out that using voices to lure other people is a good way of feeding off fear. So his vocabulary is limited almost EXCLUSIVELY to what he hears and thats it-- The only things he hears being the last words of his victims. That's what makes him scary. He is inhuman, uncanny-- attempting to sound and be human to kill and sow fear. Also, he has always been aware of and knows the other demons/spirits who manifested after him (Evelynn, Tahm Kench, Nocturne, etc), so when he meets them, he only has their names to say. And when he kills them, he says what they fed off of. Tahm Kench used addiction to feast off others. Evelynn uses human desire and lust to draw humans in and torture them-- agony. She's addicted to inflicting pain. I'm a little tipsy while typing this, so I hope some of this made sense. Regardless, good upload and can't wait for more reactions!

Also would like to add that most skins, especially skin themes that are used across multiple champions, are usually set in their own similar but completely separate universes. Like for example, the odyssey skinline, and the project skinline. So having 'vocal chords' in one skin doesn't necessarily mean that all skins do

I understand why people like it. 1000% more than fair. I commend the voice actor so many times across every fiddlesticks video weve done.. Yet people have a hard on for the fictional character and seem to not acknowledge that fictional vocal chords or not...the voice actor very much so has vocal chords and needs vocal chords to do the og fiddle voice. Still...its like the VA doesnt exist to those people and they still come in with comments telling me my opinion is basically invalid and to just understand why hes scary... thats just so weird and beyond me when they do that..

6:55 the party skin obviously has a personality and vocal chords. They both are terrifying in their own way. One because is a spooky clown. And the classic look fiddlesticks because is the ancient fear that mimicks voices. Obviously love the skin lines for obviously the ancient primal demon of fear fits more in the lore of Runeterra. The actual killer clown in Runeterra is forgotten by riot( Shaco). Obviously the clown skin is better for generic spooky clown vibes. The normal fiddlesticks is special for the lore it brings with it. Hoping for some Noxus will Rise from Shambits Gaming🥺

Yes it does. But its also not one of Fiddlesticks' canonical skins. Its there for fun and to give the player a fun different way to play him. Its literally just cosmetics, nothing to do with the actual character.

I think the main goal for the voice of base fiddlesticks is not really like to be "scary" but just to sound alien or inhuman because to be honest the scary factor is applied in game when he just appears out of nowhere while you are alone on your lane

Nailed it. In the cinematic i feel the same. Voice is not scary to me but rather quite alien and inhuman as you said. It's much more the speed at which he charges at your pov..being the camera. Makes my heart race - when hes so still beforehand. Jumpscare perfection.

Is there such a thing as a scary voice? What is known to make the sound is what makes it scary. For example, the regular grunting and sniffing of a wolf is not scary at all, it's like a dog. But if you heard it in the dark outside of your tent in the middle of the forest, those sniffs and doglike whines are quite terrifying. Same with clowns, a laughing clown is not scary at all, but a laughing clown in the middle of the night on a barren street wielding a knife while laughing is scary. The "spooky factor" of Fiddlesticks wheezing and animalistic howling comes from what Fiddlesticks is known to be. The context always provides.

Feels like the disconnect comes from a big case of "not getting" folk horror. I agree that the voice and sounds are not scary on their own, because I don't think any voice or sound can be scary on its own, the context is always what makes something creepy. A shriek on its own is just annoying, but at night deep in a forest thats pretty eerie. The sound of snapping twigs is not scary, but if you hear it outside of your tent at night then suddenly it is scary. Folk horror is made of this stuff. An effigy made of twigs and rags is not scary in any way, but if you've witnessed disturbing dark magic in a tiny medieval village then that effigy can be pretty diabolical. Thats the stuff fiddlesticks is made of. Hearing a guy fail at immitating a bunch of animals at a party is lame, but hearing something clearly not organic immitate farm animals and dead friends at night while lost in a corn field is kinda spooky. Everyone loves the surprise party fiddlesticks skin, but I don't think it's meant to be scary, it's more like a funny Pennywise reference. If I just saw someone talk like that I wouldn't be scared, Pennywise imrpessions are common, it too would need context to make it scary. Like if you walked down a barren road at night and a messed up clown with a knife came skipping towards you while speaking like that then yeah, it would be scary. It's that context that would make that silly voice spooky, same as all other horror. So I think the takes on the OG fiddlesticks voice comes from a lack of connection to folk horror. It's fine ofc but I don't think it's the fault of the voice acting or direction, it objectively does not suck so saying that it does just makes it seem like you think your opinions are law.

You're right - context matters entirely - You're watching an opinion video about a voice actors voice acting. Not how scary a real demon scarecrow is/would be/sound in a specific situation.. ..."while lost in a cornfield" - which...listen...a regular persons voice out of nowhere at night would be scary. Nvm some demon. That scenario would absolutely add to the effect but that is not whats being opinionated upon here.

So the reason he say all of this lines is he is mocking the enemy Champs by saying something that is important to them. Like when annie comes around he says help me like the little sister cried help me to Annie. And so on. Fiddle wants them to feel bad.

time to answer a few things like the reason why lux would say "Garen brother please dont hate me" is because she is a mage and in Demacia they hate mages, if they find out your a mage they would torture you to give up on magic and lock you up for life, not to mention that magic dont work that well in demacia as the buildings, armor streets are all made out of petricite, its part of stone and the magic absorbing wood, the reason why fiddle say little light is because that is the nickname that sylas gave lux as lux was falling in love with him and he use that to help him understand how he can use the petricite to relax all the magic it absorb and make it his new power and start a rebellion in Demacia. For Miss Fortune that was the scream of her mother when she was little and was screaming sarah to hide as Miss Fortune watch as Gangplank kill her mother Riven is being hunted by Noxus as she left them and they see her as a traitor Soraka is a celestial being that came down to runeterra to help ppl but the body she have is not strong enough to hold her power as she is slowly dying Raum is a demon, he is known as the Demon of Knowledge or secrets and if you look at Swains left hand that is demonic powers from Raum When Fiddle kill annie that is the moment in the annie video when annie couldn't hold on to the other girl (that maybe her sister) as she was taken by the strong current Remember the scarecrow is not fiddlesticks its the thing in the cage of the scarecrow that black thing with red eyes that is fiddlesticks as it try to use the scarecrow to make the sounds or voices But yes that is all and Swain voice and trailers would be a good pick for a reaction

"place effigy" is one of Fiddle's special abilities. it's just a fake scarecrow you can place anywhere to scout for you. If an enemy finds one of your fake scarecrows it will flash away or use your ultimate to trick your enemies into thinking it's the real fiddlesticks and waste their own flash, or an ability to cancel your ult. The effigies die in one hit, and do no damage, they are purely scouts meant to trick the enemy.

Fiddle in game voice lines are usually an important words they heard from important people in their lives For example the little hero line that said for nunu is how nunu's mother used to call nunu when she was alive.the line said for annie was said by annie's sister who was drowning in a river when they was playing and annie couldn't save her and watched her drown.for garen's line it is said by lux when they discovered she was a mage,for context mages are hated and discriminated against in demcia and they even have a mage seekers(sylas for example) who have the job of finding them(btw nobles who are discovered to be mages don't get subjected to any punishment or discrimination which was one of the reasons why sylas hated demcia) And the context for lux's line is that sylas used to call luxanna or lux little light when he was imprisoned in demcia and "i am sorry little light" was the last thing he said to lux at his execution for killing the people there and escape.

There's a certain creepiness to be had in the fact that base Fiddlesticks isn't talking so much as it is imitating sounds like a parrot. Oh, Fiddlesticks can communicate, and you hear that with the rumbling voice used for the various demons, but what you're hearing otherwise is essentially a possessed doll with no lungs or vocal cords forcing air and grinding parts of its body together to imitate sounds to illicit an instinctual reaction because it's a creature born of fear acting on its own instincts, not fully understanding what the noises its making are beyond the fear responses it illicits from others, and what it's saying is meant to be more scary than how it's saying it, because it's not just saying cheesy one-liners, it's copying the words of its victims or tapping into the traumas of those it hunts. Imagine if you were sitting down playing League and you heard Fiddlesticks saying random lines, but then you heard it say something familiar, like something one of your teammates said in voice chat. Weird, but not totally out of the ordinary, so it might just be a coincidence. But then it says something deeply personal, like the last words a loved one spoke to you or some word or phrase attached to some other traumatic experience that sticks out in your mind. Suddenly you're very uncomfortable, and probably terrified of the character on your screen that might be looking towards you during an animation. THAT is the feeling of creepiness and horror that Fiddlesticks is supposed to illicit from others, and the only reason that you as a player or viewer aren't as unnerved by Fiddlesticks as the other Champions would be in-universe is because Fiddlesticks isn't real and he's not coming after you, but you can find the impersonal aspects of his character creepy as well, like the screams he makes, the way he looks and moves, or what he's saying and the context of where he picked it up from. For instance, why does Fiddlesticks know his own nursery rhyme? Who would be singing his nursery rhyme where Fiddlesticks could hear them, and how long was he there just listening to them without attacking to pick up so much of it? How long did he stalk someone just to hear them say 'The scarecrow took them all. Nobody left but me.' to their rescuers? That's the real terror of Fiddlesticks; not the almost goofy puppet that's about as threatening as a pile of angry scrap metal, cloth, and rotten wood can be, but instead the responses the puppet triggers and how it causes your mind to wander and get lost in the dark places in your own head. All that aside, that guy's been standing over your shoulder for a bit now. You should probably say something to him before I do.

hello! i think i might be a bit late at the party, but i want to tell some of my perspective for fiddle. If you says fiddle voice isn't scary, you might be correct! because he doesn't scare people by its voice but by being a distorted human-thing, the scarecrow is build with dangerous metallic stuff when we see saw, knife, sword go to our direction we possibly be scared. The voice can be scary to some, but it's primary function is to allure the victim. like, when he mimics "help me" a person might wonder is someone there and might go to check. another one of fiddle's weapon is the thing he says, he knows the traumatic past of other champ, so for me not the voice itself that scary, but the thigs it can say. Thats all, thank you for your awesome reaction!

so, fiddle's voice actor didn't use anything to change his voice. that's all natural. Also, he's a demon of fear, he says the names of other demons when meeting them, like Raum(Demon of Knowledge in Swain). But he says the greatest trauma or fear of others. Like "Little Light" is what Sylas called Lux before and after betraying her. He also only uses words he heard from his victims.

He says "Raum" to Swain because Raum is the demon that inhabits Swains hand. Fiddlesticks can only imitate the prey he has killed or recite painful memories of those he encounters - he can't speak of his own volition for the vast majority of cases - the only exception being when he meets another demon. Evelyn, Tahm Kench, Nocturne & Raum are all demons and so Fiddlesticks can speak only their names of his own free will. Everything else is Fiddles mimicking someone elses words.

Ok so basically not every skin is tie to the originall lore of fiddle so the real fiddle is different from the suprise party fiddle sticks, and maybe in the surprise party it make sense that he sound like a crazy clown.. Cuz he is a clown in that skin line in that universe.. I don't think the vocal chord is the problem with fiddlesticks but rather he doesn't have a wide vocabulary and can only repeat words and sounds from it's victims, for the wind bag sounds that's what a person sounds like when they try to breathe after their lungs get punctured

Don't get me wrong as a fiddle main I do use party skin like 80% of the time, but I dig the original skin just on lore itself. Fiddlesticks is an ancient demon, he doesn't know how to human. Best he can do is mimic the way we walk and speak.

Idk the voice part is subjective, but clown fiddle entertains me to no end where the original scares me from concept and design. If you're worried about him talking too much dw you don't tend to live long to hear it.

Fiddle isn't everybody's cup of tea. His praetorian skin doesn't even have voice lines; it's just a bunch of mechanical chittering. It should be noted that Legendary skins like Suprise Party fiddlesticks are usually intended to be alternative takes on the champion so it's hard to compare the two when they're so different

I love how you just ignore the entire story of Fiddlesticks just because the Surprise Party SKIN, that has nothing to do with his story, has his own voice lines "because he put some balloons on his back so he has vocal cords". BRO! He has no vocal cords and the skin is not canon, the same way as (almost) any other skin for other champions. If you would look deeper into lore of Runeterra or at least into the champion, then you would know, but you have no interest for the story, just doing some "reaction"...

​@@donmowatt I think one of the main reasons why people like the default voice isn't necessarily because of the voice, but also the writing. The voice lines targeted towards other champions target specific things in their backstory linked with personal trauma. If you know the lore of the champion that Fiddlesticks is interacting with, the voice lines are so much better. Also as a quick note, I have no idea how this comment will come across so I just wanted to clarify that it's not meant in any bad manners :D
