In Jinx's first fight scene, she's getting the hero treatment. Before we even see her, we see what she's capable of, with that scene in the cargo hold. Then she walks out of the smoke like a badass, whips out her grenades and starts kicking ass. She's coordinated, confident, her gadgets are working flawlessly. She's finally a badass like Vi was. But then we get that girl with the pink hair. And we see the cracks.

Vi's shoulder roll definitely feels more like an old injury. I had a shoulder injury doing combat sports and for years it bugged me cause i tried to walk it off and didn't get medical attention. The result being that for years afterwards i had a constant tightness in it that required me to stretch it to relieve it.

I've tried to walk off muscle injuries before now because I didn't want it getting looked at in case it put me out of action for while. Looking back it's just a dumb thing to do but that's why injuries are the worst thing about sports

One of the thing you touched on about Powder/Jinx isn't talked about much in other commentaries. So many people talk about how Powder could have been "saved" from becoming Jinx is this event or that event didn't occur or occurred differently. The problem with that is that from frame one, Powder was destined to become a person comfortable with violence. Exposure to violence and loss at the scale at that young an age will normalize the act of violence. This is why Jinx later laughs off the death of the Enforcers. People dying en masse is a day ending in y to her, not something shocking. Look at Powder's childhood talents: marksmanship and explosive ordinance. Compared this to Vi, who being older and able to better emotionally process things when the massacre occurred, focuses on non-lethal violence and non-violent crimes like theft. Even if the bomb incident didn't kill her family in Episode 3, even if Silco had never entered the picture, the best Powder could hope for is to be an individual who channeled their violence into more socially acceptable avenues like being a bodyguard, enforcer, mercenary or going with her engineering talent, an armorer.

17:08 Thank you. I think the fact that Powder is a genius, she is only 7yrs old. Vi says to Caitlyn that her 7yr old sister made that jump. We see Powders first jump in ep1. I say genius, because she was tech in the group. She kept their playroom in order, setup the alarm system and figures out the hextech. I wouldn't be surprised if she made the shimmer arm in episode 4 after seeing the mechanical butterflies. My point. She is seven and Vi is like a mother to her. Vi takes her on a heist and Powder gets extremely dangerous weapons. It doesn't matter that they don't know this at that point. Vi is responsible for anything that happens (Vander if points this out for the audience). You cant tell a young child that they aren't good enough and not expect her to try to change that. You also have to understand that Powder wants to help no matter what, the same way VI does. They left a child alone with everyone that matters her not possibly returning. I've seen so many people blame powder as though she was an adult, but she is as child who in a moment discovers she killed most of the people she loves. The final person abandons her when she needs family the most. Jinx is my favorite, because she is one of the rare villain's you see written so well who have mental health issues.
@Acceleration503 жыл бұрын
I mean... I'm not denying what you said but you also can't deny that Vi was also a child doing irresponsible things, some of them being bringing Powder along on jobs and leaving her alone for a second after what just happened. Also she realizes that she was hurting her in the heat of the moment she just has to walk away and cool down, so I feel we shouldn't put all the fault on Vi either.

@@jatilq Actually that really depends on the person. What you're saying is one of the things that happens the most, but not everyone is the same. I never noticed Vi's shoulder thing at all before you mentioned it, but I think you're right that it's a result of injury from episode three because the writers are consistent with that sort of stuff across the board. Something similar I just noticed in my 3rd viewing of act 1 is that in Jayce's flashback to the snowstorm when his mom collapses, the shot of her lying in the snow shows some of her fingers have turned black, implying frostbite. I then realized that when we see Jayce's mom again during the trial, those gold things on her fingers aren't some fashion accessory like I first thought; they're mechanical prosthetics needed after losing her fingers from the frostbite! I thought that was so cool. Strangely we see that one of the councilors has these for every finger which suddenly makes her unknown backstory all the more interesting.
@Shythalia Жыл бұрын
About Vi's shoulder thing, I don't disagree that the writers may have added that detail in but I think it's also likely that maybe they didn't write that in and the animators just did that without the writers' knowledge. Fortiche does pretty much control all the visuals in the show so, they can add some details the writers never thought of, like Vi smiling when she saw Caitlyn being a flirt to that girl at the brothel. Again, not disagreeing. Just merely suggesting that it could also be a Fortiche thing.
@leonielson71383 жыл бұрын
Silco intended to use Powder to draw Vi out until Powder declared that Vi wasn't her sister any more. At that point, he realized that Powder was a kindred spirit. Powder's eyes are grey, Silco's Jinx's eyes are blue, while our Jinx's eyes are purple. In the last shot of Episode 3, her eyes are purple - she's our Jinx, even before getting juiced up by Shimmer at the end of Episode 8 and the tea party in episode 9. When she tells Vi that she, her sister, created Jinx, you can go back and see the moment it happened.

I understand the feeling that Vi and Caitlyn's relationship is a bit rushed, and to an extent I suppose that's true given the limited amount of episode time available for it. The only thing I'll say is that nothing creates a strong bond faster than working and living through a crisis together. If anyone were to suggest that the immediacy of their bond was in direct proportion to the intensity of the crises they experienced together, I'd accept that explanation and not really question it much further.

I definitely think it was something the writers really wanted to establish before going into season 2 because presumably there will be a bunch more events kicking off and time will be even more limited. It's fast, but it works well enough because they both are put in extremely vulnerable positions and come thru for each other, that can carry alot of weight, especially considering the two are already very attracted to each other physically.
@crazypomp9273 жыл бұрын
The fact that they go through such extreme experiences together is precisely why I didn't even question how quickly their feelings developed. It's not the healthiest way to start a relationship and will likely lead to something fast and passionate that fizzles when the crises stop, but it is wholly believable to me.

I mean they aren’t even in a relationship yet, they’ve only really been flirting with each other the whole time, and the one time they really bring it up, the scene practically ends in a break up. And that’s really the last time they interact (when not attending a tea party hosted by a psychotic lunatic). There’s no kiss, there’s no “I love you,” they just know they have feelings for each other, and that’s really just the start of a relationship. And after everything they’ve been through it makes sense to me

I think it all comes down to Jinx knowing she's crazy and just accepting it in all of its ups and downs. As she states, she didn't become like that she was made to be that way by everyone around her forcing her further into corners of her mind where it's either you deal with those demons by making friends with them or kicking their asses. My point being at some point you have to realize that there are always gonna be the monsters in your head you have to fight and it's about how you choose to deal with them is what matters because you can only be the you that you want

Everybody calls this a cliffhanger ending, I respectfully beg to differ. It’s the perfect ending of the story of the transformation of Powder into Jinx, which was the meat of the plot. All through Acts II and III Powder/Jinx is unstable, battling delusions, hallucinations, feelings of guilt and PTSD, trying to find an identity which can provide some mental relief. Vi’s reconnection _almost_ brings what’s left of Powder back to the fore, and for a moment you can see Powder in her eyes, but Silco’s influence, combined with the presence of Caitlyn (the REPLACEMENT sister in Jinx’ mind), starts her final downward spiral. Her pulling the trigger on the Fishbones weapon completes that transformation. Powder fell down a well. Now Jinx is in charge. The moment the missile hit the window insured war between Zaun and Piltover. What happens next won’t really be a surprise in the classical sense.

I watched the first act, and dragged in a friend who knew literally nothing about LoL beyond, "Isn't it that, like game that's big in South Korea?", just to confirm if what I watched really was that good or not, because I just couldn't believe it. How could an adaptation be this good? I HAD to have been very subconsciously biased after 10 years of that shit, right? No. The answer was no. She loved every minute of it, and literally broke down in tears twice. Once at the finale of the first act, and again at the very end, because there wasn't any more to watch.

you cant be more right. I think that jinx has been through so much that she kinda deserves a happy ending bc in the game she is still crazy but happy, though there were some meaning full lines in this series like when Vi was fighting sevika, Vi saw Vander and he said "she still needs you" and jinx asked Vi are we still sisters and vi said nothing is ever going to change that. the last thing jinx said was " I thought maybe you could love me like you used to even though I am different. all those things were not used in season 1 and by the viewer ship of jinx and vi maybe they will change it too season 2 bc you can see how jinx is when she is with her sister vi and as you said Jinx was not cool and crazy but you could see her PTSD and trauma of Jinx . In the start when riot shows us how close Vi and Jinx/powder was it kinda should add up to by all of the forgotten stuff and meaning full lines maybe we can have a season 2 were Jinx and Vi will be friends again honestly Jinx deserves it. The last thing is that jinxes face when she looked at Vi you could see the pain in her eyes how much she wants to be loved by her sister bc she just shot her father and now she is alone and that is my theory to the next season . hope you can respond to this :)

Silco was about to kill Powder, he just wanted to know where Vi was first. He has to kill them all for his plan to work. The reason he took her in was as she threw him self on him explaining her sisters betrayal, he saw himself and Vander in Powder and Vi. The desicion to take her in wasnt made untill like 15 seconds after she jumped him. When he raises his arm before embrasing her he is about to shuv her off but changes his mind. Its a brillian scene, you can see the confusion, pain and memories all across Silcos face as his eyes darts around aimlessly before finally landing on Vanders dead body. It solidifies Silco as an actual person. He IS te villain, there is no question about it... but this, already, cements him as something more than just a cartoonish evil cut-out. He has emotion, motivations, ambitions and values liike everyone else. And this is something they continueously remind us of through out the show. This is why Silco, imo, is one of thebest villains in cinematic history. This is also why most people actually feel sad when he dies. His cause was actually just, the real villains are the Piltover counsil oppressing the undercity. Silco and his crew had all the right to fight them, thats not why hes the villain, its his methods. In a way he is sort of an anit-hero. He is a bit to dark to be considered as such but he share many traits with the architype.

The theme and depth on every scene on the first act are soo good and deeply human and pictured in one of the most beautifull media we can acces to today. music, sound effect, voice acting, animation overall, chroma contrast and depth, real fights, real emotions (wich by the way feel refreshing as FUCK, there is not enough media accepting having different emotions in different range is a part of being human ) , work arround mannerism and so small details yet so important in acting that make it truly real. Down to the script, the scene overall (Screenshot boy). It's truly a masterpiece (well, people mays say no because imagine dragon, i understand, it's cool, it's not everyone) What i realized recently is by how everything is connected in a good way in order to lead the plot smoothyl, emotionnal, engaging and.. I didn't notice the foreshadowing of Vi catching Powder on the roofs. 👍 but I think u got the length of the time skip wrong. Vi mentions Powder being able to handle keeping up with the gang at age 7 which kinda implies she was 7 in the first 3 episodes since she does the big jump in episode 1 n it seems like those kinds of jumps r an everyday occurrence for them. She is clearly not 12 after the time skip tho. Maybe she is older than 7 but I'd say she has to be at least 16 post time skip n defs wasn't 11 in the first 3 episodes. I think she was 7-8 n is now 16-18 making it an 8-11 yr time skip n I've been friending more of this show n binging all the videos on KZbin about it n seen a lot of people who concur with my guess. I took a screenshot from ur video of Caitlyn when Vi pictures her before the lid is removed cuz I need to get a screenshot also of the first time we see that in the bedroom scene cuz apparently they edited it to make her look better in Vi's memory cuz beauty is in the eye of the beholder. N while on the subject of Vi n Caitlyn, u say that's not enough time to develop a relationship... have u met lesbians? Some stereotypes r exaggerations of truth n a lesbian moving in on the 2nd date is one of those thats surprisingly not as much of an exaggeration as u'd think. Literally a quote from my life about 10 months ago... (I'm bi n polyamorous n my gf lives outside the city n I usually spend a whole weekend there when I see her) ME: "U won't believe it, someone at work misunderstood *1st guy I went on a date with* for my bf n when I told him so we could share a laugh he said he liked the sound of that n asked me to be his gf. :3" HER: "Ok, u can be his gf during the week but ur mine during the weekend." ME: "Wait, did u just ask me to be ur gf?" HER: "Aren't u alrdy?" (It was less than 2 months I'd known her n all our dates were me spending the weekend at her house n our 1st date was like the week before xmas n our 2nd date was disobeying the lockdown to spend the weekend partying just the 2 of us... so ya, sometimes our relationships work faster than even we can keep track of

I don't think the line about Powder being able to make the jump when she was 7 is meant to imply that she was 7 in the first 3 episodes. It looks to me like she ages up from early adolescence (10-12) to mid-late teens (15-17). Ekko seems to be a year or two younger. Time jump is most likely 5 or 6 years.

Excellent video. Yes, to me, the season misses an episode. It's one of its two flaws (the others are easily eclipsed by the good) : this, and the lack of intel regarding what happened during the time jump. A tenth episode would have let time for the writer a) to develop the relationships, especially between Silco and Jinx (weren't those two glorious together ?), and b) to add flashbacks. But hey... let's not be ungrateful. And maybe they'll add those flashbacks in season 2, to allow the viewers to get a better understanding of who the two sisters have become. That's what I'd do anyway...

I think that Arcane had an advantage other adaptations usually don’t have, as LoL lore isn’t exactly at the forefront of the game, the gameplay and PvP is. The lore, in my opinion, just gives some basic reasoning behind what’s happening. I know many LoL players, including myself, that played the game for a while but know very little about the lore. A lot of video game adaptations are from games that have clear and present stories that the adaptation creators don’t get a grasp of. It’s also a benefit that it’s animated, as many things that characters do in video games would break suspension of disbelief in live action. Another huge benefit is that the developers of the game had a direct say in what happened in Arcane, they were hands on, while a lot of video game adaptations are made by big studios looking for a cash grab and don’t truthfully understand the game.
@congamez41983 жыл бұрын
Funnily enough in my recent video I discuss these exact issues. It definitely had an advantage in that sense but at the same time it still managed to craft an incredible story from nothing whilst the others failed whilst an entire universe set up beforehand, so I don't know which is more impressive, their failures or Arcane's success. But yeah it is obvious that certain directions simply didn't understand the universes they were given.
@tobyriecke39723 жыл бұрын
@@congamez4198 yep! Honestly I think it just comes down to the motivation behind the creation of the adaptation. Usually it’s just some big studio that sees an easy cash grab, but In Arcane’s case it was very passionately crafted by the games creators and has been in development for years. Also In this video you talked about “continuation of a story” when making an adaptation. That’s what a lot of people want, but usually it’s very difficult. But vice versa, it’s possible (E.I making a canon game as a continuation of a movies story), as shown by the success of Jedi: Fallen Order.

@@casperryborg4869 Arcane is better than League of Legends. If you disagree that's fine. Just say you disagree and like League of Legends.

Sure, the game may be ehhhh but the lore is pretty good. Arcane just enhances its world.

just a question. why are you only talking to me through the right side of my headphone?
@congamez41983 жыл бұрын
I've seen someone else mention that. I've tested it myself and yet I can hear the video through both sides. Very weird 🤔

It doesn't expressively show adult material like sex scenes or heavy violence but you would have to be brain dead to not realize that is what it is showing. I mean the beheading scene is a good example, you don't see the blood or gore but you know pretty explicitly that the person was beheaded.

jinx is like anton chigurh killing machine, silco very solid character independent,untainted by influence from other character.this drama well get more better and better

The writer is so good that they are multiple viewpoints because u could look at it as if it’s not VI’s fault. It’s all your path to decide I honestly don’t know where I stand 😅😂

Silco is totally a terrible person. Having a noble goal and emotions is not the criteria we should be using to qualify a person as good. He thinks nothing of killing people, selling life ruining drugs, and threatening people using their children. I sympathize with him, agree with him, hell I even admire him, but Silco is evil.

At the very least making out there is a such thing as deep relationship without sexuality like with Sabine and Ezra in Rebels

Vi and Caitlin are just friends this show is not a stranger to sexual relationships it would have been shown if that was their intent

I get the feeling you didn’t actually watch the show or see their interactions lmao. They’ve only known each other like a week, of course they aren’t gonna be having sex already. Their relationship is just starting
