I don't think that Powder would ever use the crystals seeing what happened when Vi died in the explosion from the one she accidentally dropped in the apartment. The prevailing theory of why, in this timeline, Piltover and Zaun united because of the "death of a child from the undercity in topside," so they put aside their differences. Jayce either died or was banished by the council, Viktor probably died of his illness, Marcus never took over as Sheriff, Silco maybe found the letter Vander left for him, or he reconciled with Vander because Vi died, and Singed never went forward with his production of shimmer.

Two cool details: in game, Ekko's power rewinds time 4 seconds. In the dance scene, the animation is done "on fours" which means every fourth frame is animated. Also, in the open, there's a shot of Ekko casting two shadows like a clock. The shadow clock ticks backwards four seconds.

Also supposedly, the moment of the duel between Ekko and Jinx in season 1 happens at the same time and episode as the dance in season 2. If that was deliberate, that's fucking brilliant.

Some fun symbolism: the pendant Ekko gives Powder is of a blue rose (which has Ekko and Powder’s silhouettes as part of the design) which in the language of flowers represents an “impossible or unattainable love” since blue roses can’t be found in nature. Also back in season 1 Ekko told Heimerdinger that you “can’t just give people what they need to survive, you have to give them what they need to LIVE,” and Heimerdinger’s last words to Ekko were, “since I’ve met you lad I’ve truly LIVED.”

Ekko has been living in a world where he has to fight to survive and ended up in a dream world. Jayce has been living the dream and ended up in a nightmare he helped create.

10:43 It's hard to spot but the pendant that Ekko gave Powder, when spun, creates a blue rose with both of them in it but facing opposite directions. Blue roses are impossible in nature and so, they are can be used to represent an impossible love/connection that is just out of reach. 😢😢

Timebomb is so tragic Bcs ekko knows that he has to leave for his jinx and his timeline. Also the dance was in 4fps which is how much ekko can rewind by. This shows how we’re not actually seeing the scene.. but his memories of it and how he didn’t want to leave that moment

One of them had to survive hell, the other had to give up heaven. Also I love that if you think about it, Jayce and Ekko had to almost live each other's lives or see each others' point of view, for Jayce he's always been in the comforts of Piltover surrounded by riches and safety and nice living, while Ekko has been in the slums in a constant battle and personal struggle, and they each got to experience the opposite.

@13:58 .. yeah. i was contemplating this a lot, and after watching Brandon Sanderson's video where he talks about his thoughts about Arcane s1 [the setting/genre is 'grimdark'], it sorta clicked for me: Vi's death in the alternate universe is 'The Base Violence Necessary For Change'.. Vi dying on the job to steal from Jayce's apartment is a domino effect where he is brought to trial, banished from Piltover, and his research destroyed. no Hextech. no Anomaly. but the flipside of this discussion is Vi, Powder, Claggor, and Mylo's motive to steal in the first place. the disparity between Topside and Bottom, and it would seem that things turn out for the better as we see [our] Ekko walking along the bridge between the two [cities].

I'm not surprised I cried at an episode of this show, but this was a very different vibe. And it's interesting how it reflects, somewhat, the vibe in S1E7 (with the bridge fight)

Just like Episode 7 of S1, a fantastic story around The Boy Savior. A lot of people (wrongly) accuse this episode of just being fanservice, but I really enjoyed it: it shows that, despite Arcane's story hook based on people with the best intentions making the worst decisions, there are reasons to keep moving forwards and trying their best.

It's so sad that in the first season we have the young just wanting to prove themselves, including Marcus. But in the happy universe Vi's death had to be the catalyst that made everyone around, even the nations themselves, to mature 😭
