This show has so much cool imagery like that. The artists at Riot and Fortiche are amazing. They put so much intention into the designs which in other features or shows are kinda phoned in. This show rewards the viewer for paying attention and all for anyone with like media literacy and a sense of art history.

They seemed kind of on tilt just trying to process everything. Being realistic that episode has a lot going on. Maple and Arianna are definitely more passive viewers in this show and there is a lot of subtext that is rewarding for those of us who are obsessed with this show. A more surface level experience for viewers that aren't deep diving on YT video essays, trying to learn lore, drawing lines between real world events and issues. One of the big successes of this show is the cross section of the shows viewership is wild. Some people just here for the hot animation, punching and explosions, some folks dissecting it and having an existential crisis in slow; and everything between.

I think the 4fps dance kinda took them out. I love the show and understand the point of it but to casual viewers that react to a lot of different shows all week it might be weird on first view.
@fredwin19 күн бұрын
Arcane is a great show but it's not a literary masterpiece, especially this season. We all know the decision to wrap up the story supposedly didn't jive with the show's vision, but there are plenty of issues people could have that have nothing to do with casual viewing. A couple of big ones this episode and some people just do not appreciate how trope-y the alternative universe stuff is.
@nullunit19 күн бұрын
@@fredwin That is true, I don't think anyone said it was some elevated masterpiece or that it has no flaws. Maple and Arianna aren't shy about their opinions typically, if they weren't having a good time with it I feel like they would say so. I have no doubt we'll hear some critique after act 3 but so far they seem to be just enjoying it on it's own merits and not getting too precious about it. I respect their more measured reaction in this case because it is easy to obsess about it and come off that it is some unattainable bar for quality when it is just a very good show overall.

The reason the dance scene is choppy is because of the framerate. In the game his ultimate ability lets him go back in time 4 seconds. (like the show) That scene is set to a lower framerate to match his ability.
@BurnDem10119 күн бұрын
It also symbolizes him wanting to rewind time and remain in that moment forever

4 frames per second to be exactly.

It is also a call back to the Ekko and Jix fight in season 1. This episode has so many layers for both Ekko and Jayce's journey, its wild.

that doesn't make any sense. 4 fps doesn't equal 4 seconds, it equals 1 second
@BrandonWestfall17 күн бұрын
@@KlooKloo Frames Per Second, it’s in the name. Either you’re not understanding the statement or you’re trying to argue semantics. His ulti is 4 seconds. The scene is set to 4 FPS which makes it appear choppy/used for dramatic effect. The same is used in countless films. Into the Spiderverse is the first to come to mind.

Jayce went to the future and existed the same as he was because there is no longer a living Jayce there, while Ekko and Heimerdinger took the consciousness of their alternate selves (Though since Heimerdinger is a Yordle, it might work slightly different for him)
@PabloRGon18 күн бұрын
the shaky movement from ekko and jinx dancing is because it's animated a 4 frames per second which is the time ekko can rewind and time travel
@KlooKloo17 күн бұрын
That doesn't make any sense. 4 frames a second doesn't have anything to do with 4 seconds. 4 frames per second x 4 seconds = 16 frames. Why isn't that the frame rate? 24fps is normal frame rate, divide that by 4, you get 6. Why isn't that the frame rate? You're just doing random "The Number 23"-type reaching for fake connections to feel smart. It's in 4fps because it's a callback to the Jinx/Ekko flashback fight in season 1, which also was in 4fps, because it _looked cool_

The song during the dance scene roughly translates to two lovers that can't be together because their enemies. The bleu rose on the necklace symbolises something simular: a combination that can never be. That's deep symbolism. Absulutely genius.

I felt it wasn't so much that they were literal enemies but they are best and worst things for each other. Maybe I read too much into it but it seem more metaphorical than literal.

Extra genius because the word for 'friend' in french is 'ami', which rhymes with enemie/enemy, so the play on words works even better in the language that the song is sung in

My favorite best episode of the already incredibly brilliant series. (1) That french song "Ma meilleure ennemie" lyrics PERFECTLY encapsulates the push-pull romance dynamic feelings between Ekko and Jinx/powder. This song skyrocketed in viewership numbers to highest views and replays on the Riot Games Music youtube channel after this episode 7 was released. (2) The slow mo dance scene was at 4 frames per second which hints at Ekko's time reversal limit of 4 seconds (3) Notice gorgeous Jinx/ Powder has the same natural dance moves like her mother. This probably explains how she noticed Ekko's moves because she got that dance instinct from her mama. (4) The NECKLACE Ekko leaves with Jinx/ Powder has a blue rose which is symbolic of unattainable love due to the fact that blue roses do not exist hinting at Ekko's love for THIS version of Jinx/ Powder but he can not stay with her no matter how much he wants to because he has to return to his own timeline. I heard that if you looked very closely at that necklace, you will see the faces of Jinx/ Powder and Ekko within the image of the blue rose. (5) This episode is EXTREMELY important towards events in Episode 9/ final episode of sn2. (6) On this episode 7, Ekko's story theme is "What could have been" while Jayce's story theme is "What should NOT be". (7) In this Ekko's alternate timeline, Silco "found the will to forgive" re-establishing his brotherhood with Vander because of the LETTER from Vander in Season 1. Bonus tidbit..... (8) Ekko has a owl inspired mask which he wore in season 1. Guess what?.... Owls have a narrow limited visual color spectrum so they usually mostly see color BLUE. Ding Ding Ding, Jinx/ Powder...her hair, she is the only one with blue hair.
