One thing I love, *love* about Jayce is his absolutely flimsy conviction. Not his morals, his morals are ironclad, he always tries to do the right thing, but his *convictions* are so moldable, so situational. "We have to use Hextech to help the people of the undercity... but first we have to build this teleporter for topside. We have to stamp out corruption... but I have to make *some* deals. We have to lock down the bridge... but my partner got caught because I forgot he was from the other side. We have to stomp out Silco's shimmer production... but oh no, fighting people means people die!" And so far Season 2 has just been doubling down and it's so interesting, because a lot of it's *promises he made to Viktor* . "I promised Viktor I'd destroy the Hex Core, but I need it to save him. I promised Viktor I wouldn't weaponize Hextech, but the attack has me scared and Cait's asking me to. I promised Viktor we'd use this technology to help the Undercity, but we didn't realize in our recklessness we're *poisoning it with Magic.* " And then his final act of Act 1 (ha, words) is to try and solve the problem he didn't know he caused... by hitting it with the representative image of his reckless naivete, his broken promise: the first Hextech weapon he ever builds. But far from his last.

my absolute favorite scene this act was definitely jayce’s “what have we _done?”_ catharsis. it’s so incredibly well done, but the shot that has been sitting in my mind is the one where it flashes back to him meeting the mage. i interpreted it as a realization: he thought they’d harnessed magic, managed to control it through science, but when faced with the actual reality of the arcane and its limitless and unknowable potentials, he’ll always be just a kid-staring in amazement at something that he doesn’t understand. i love it, best scene, can’t wait to see where he and viktor go-considering that jayce will probably go down a spiral of “the arcane is dangerous and we shouldn’t use it anymore” while viktor is all about “using the arcane is the first time i’ve been able to make an actual change for common people compared to the eight years i was in piltover”. anyways, more boyfriends please.

I've honestly thought a lot about Maddie and how she's introduced, especially how people are reacting to her. She's adorable, and instantly just is likable and full of sunshine, and the first thing she does on screen is bring up Vi's little vigilante justice moment from the first season as an unalloyed good, a heroic thing that she should be praised for. I can't say if Caitlyn told her to say that or not, but honestly I don't think it matters, because we see from moment one someone who sees that kind of "take things into your own hands" approach as a positive, and that person is a cop. When she's excited at the end of act 1 about the chest pounding fascist movement Piltover is being swept up in, that is completely in line with exactly the kind of person we see her as from moment one.

Around the 53:00 minute mark: I also think the way Ambessa pushes Salo's wheelchair down one step at a time really highlights her attitude towards him. I feel like she'd definitely be strong enough to just pick him up, chair and all, and gently put him down those few steps. She really does not care enough for him to make the descent comfortable and (this may be the wrong word but that's the vibe I got) dignified? Really highlights the prop aspect as well, and makes me think she is making a show of seeming gracious, when in truth she really does not care more than the bare minimum.

Ambessa doesn't push him, the wheelchair can move on its own and the wheelchair going down the steps instead of Salo asking to to be carried closer is to emphasize the point that he's paralyzed now because of an attack from Zaun to push the invasion of Zaun.

Since the Hexcore is meant to learn and responds to organic matter primarily, I think when it consumed Sky, it learned from her how to be human, the same way A/I/ learns from data aggregates. It also understands Viktor is much of the same way, so perhaps it sees Viktor as damaged and knows he's seeking some kind of absolution for what he's done, so it does what it think is right by leading him down this path using Sky's visage.

I haven't seen anyone else make this connection, but Viktor VERY STRONGLY resembles The Hermit this season, as in the tarot card. It represents spiritual enlightenment, which is a really cool detail since he's becoming jesus

I don't know why Singed is making WW, but I think the reason he's pumping his own blood into WW is because WW is hostile towards the scent of other's blood. By having Singed's blood in him, WW might consider Singed as one of his pack, or be more easily controlled by someone sorta related to him by blood.

I love how Jinx dialog almost always has a dubious meaning. S1E9 - 'I made her a snack'. She made her a cupcake. With the hexball on top of the cupcake (foreshadowing much?) But did she mean 'I MADE her a snack'? 'I made HER a snack'? 'I made her a SNACK'? Then in S2E2 - 'To finish what's left of my family'. WHICH family? The one with Vi? The one with Silco (ie the chembarons)? Vi and Jinx both? Herself(S2E3 - 'I'm glad its you')? The sheer amount of innuendo, double speak etc you can press through one of her lines is astounding!

Fun fact - Elora had a costume shift from S1 to S2. In S1 her outfit was predominantly white, very much matching Mel’s palette. In S2 her outfit switches to red and black, notoriously Noxian colours. I thought it was a neat little hint about her real allegiances. She’s 100% dead, however - I’m guessing she got the body snatching treatment the way she did (unlike the subtler one Amara might have gotten) as punishment for getting so personally close to Mel rather than doing her job. If Lest reappears she will most likely take over Elora’s spot as Mel’s confidante, which is yet another reason for the show to kill Elora off.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the specific nature of Mel’s magic (or whatever it is that presumably protected her and Jayce from the explosion.) Assuming she does have some kind of power, it’s interesting that she shows no indication that she’s aware of it, nor of the exact nature of Ambessa’s feud with the Black Rose. Makes me think Mel’s power, whatever it may be, could be connected to whatever Ambessa supposedly stole.

There's a short by flowchartyt who discusses whether one of the main characters will die. He connects Caitlyn is referencing Macbeth, Viktor to Phantom of the opera, Jinx to Les Mis, and Mel/Ambessa to Julius Ceasar. Every single one of these the main characters in their plays dies

Hm... that's a valid interpretation, but I don't know that it fully holds up. In the Phantom of the Opera, at least the Lloyd-Webber musical, the Phantom does not die. He dies in several versions of the story, but not in the most famous one, and not in the version that is most directly referenced by the imagery of the mask laying on the floor. Jean Valjean does die in Les Misérables, but of heartbreak after a long life and after a failed revolution, which, y'know, dying of old age and exhaustion is not quite the same as a dramatic life cut short before its time, such as Brutus or Macbeth.

I think a lot of people struggle with Jayce and his perspective because it's very feminine. He's addicted to the validation he gets when he does what people ask or want of him. He is controlled by this need to please because his self-worth is derived from it. This is typically a very feminine issue. So to see it play it on a male character is very interesting. His whole arc is tragic because he keeps betraying himself first and then those he loves in an effort to please everyone. He will end up pissing everyone off and alone at the end of this unless he is allowed to change course.

I think Jinx is more going to become a synthesis of Vander and Silco (which is maybe arguable just younger Vander). She will take Vanders concern for the Undercity's people but also Silco's willingness to fight and she will be able to [mostly] spare innocent people's lives by essentially being denounced by them. This will be balanced by Vi becoming the anti-Jinx counter measure. Piltover and Zaun will reach something like a truce with Jinx as means of keeping Piltover in line if they cross any boundaries. At it's most idealistic we might even see Jinx remain the revolutionary figure as Zaun compromises it's goals and settles for less than Jinx, Vander and Silco aspired to.

Episode 3.( the scene with Ambessa talking to Salo in his property) Ambessa" Perhaps if you hadnt let a child owerpower you in your own chamber" she's inspecting a vial containing shimmer( the confirmation that Salo is not a good candidate at all, also a possible interest in shimmer?) With Vi's 'destiny' as an Enforcer, and the dream of reconciliation, it could be interesting for Vi to be the new Grayson. If Vi must be an Enforcer, I'd love for her to be one that advocates for and protects Zaun.

I wonder why there is no bad blood between Jayce and Heimerdinger. Jayce voted him out of the council, made hextech weapons and used the Hexcore to save Viktor. There is also Ekko’s tree that is possibly dying because of his actions. It just seems a little weird that Jayce and Heimerdinger are acting like nothing happened.

Even if Heimerdinger is that forgiving, wouldn’t he be mad at Jayce for messing with the hexcore and being irresponsible with hextech when he warned him multiple times ? And like i said Jayce expressed guilt for betraying him so it makes sense for him to apologize or at least acknowledge it. I don’t think it’s consistent with both characters. They probably just didn’t have enough time to address it like Skyen said.

I haven't thought on it before but Maddie really does seem suspicious. Part of me thinks if this doesn't make more sense if she is aligned more with Ambessa. It would make sense to have an agent in the enforcers, especially in Caitlyns elite group, to make sure Vi gets there and stays loyal to Cait, to start the chant at the end, getting the enforcers to join up in obedience with the noxus army, to be right there to get some of the first hextech weapons. Only thing is I would suppose Ambessa only got interested in Cait at the end of episode 1 where she reveals her squad but maybe just maybe she already had some hopes for Caitlyn from the very start.

That would look very contrived as manipulations go. I think Maddie has a very consistent characterization. She's young and naive, she idealizes people as heroes, Vi and Cait specially. She likes to think individual acts of epic heroism can fix society's problems. She's primed to believe in Ambessa's lies

What are your thoughts on the families/clans that appear in episode 3 during the council meeting and Ambessa’s declaration of martial law? A lot of people have been saying that one of those families might be clan Ferros, since Mel, in season 1, mentioned that she’s been working with them or sth. Is it possible that we might get a human Camille appearance? Or that Clan Ferros might have a role in helping Caitlyn track down Jinx or sth.

I'm not really convinced. The white-clad clan, I guess, could MAYBE be Ferros - but the thing about Ferros is, in the main canon lore, there are only 2 of them left by the present day that we know about: Camille herself, and Albus Ferros, who's a relative from some unknown part of the family, who only exists in Legends of Runeterra, which is at best very TENUOUS canon at this point, as Riot has decided to just let it die. Camille is the sole head of the clan, with no children, nieces or nephews or younger siblings that we know about, so the groups at the final scene are all too large to be her living family. Albus Ferros also looks... nothing like any of the noble families we see in Arcane, he's a bit of a colorful cartoonish dandy, so... I doubt it.

Of the two paths for Mel that you outlined in the intro analysis (succeeding Ambessa or basically dying due to her body being used as a new permanent vessel for LeBlanc as maybe even part of a visual update for LB in LoL) I also feel like the first one is more likely. But as much as the second one doesn't entirely sit well with me for a variety of reasons, I just thought of a nifty narrative consequence of it: it would give some characters a reason to hate LeBlanc and have them be enemies for the foreseeable future in a pretty angsty way. Imagine e.g. LeBlanc (in Mel's body) smiling with understated confidence while looking down on a furious Jayce and a glaring Caitlyn readying her rifle, or something to that effect. Also I wanted to clarify that I haven't seen any of the leaked episodes (if there even were complete leaked episodes for act 2 and 3, not sure). I've noticed a lot not so subtle attempts by people to share leaked stuff in social media kinda by framing it as theories or overly specific "vibes" they have about characters. Maybe to try and publicly "predict" stuff before it happens and getting to feel smart or something. It just reads as pathetic. Anyway, I say this because if anything I've said happens to line up with stuff that happens later in the series (I doubt it) it's pure coincidence.

My daughter pointed out that among the flashes in the intro we are shown the face of Aisha in between lines of light the come together in a V shape very briefly, maybe one or two frames. She also pointed out how for a few frames we see the glowing eyes of the the assault squad Vi joined as they walk through a shadow.

I think the consequences of the wind trap are going to be huge for Act 2. I think it fully cleared out the smog, which is why Savika agreed to help with it, and why Savika rushes to get it over with when things are going to shit. I think the fact that Jinx did that is why the cult around her starts to form, especially with her going around unintentionally asserting dominance over the chem barons by killing one's goons and straight up killing another.
