If you want to talk about Vi being driven by her emotions, you can't ignore Cait throwing aside her morals for her rage and revenge. She's doing exactly what Vi was afraid of, and what Cait herself said would be too easy for her - she's falling into hating and dehumanizing the other side and letting it change her into a different person. That's the real reason Vi stopped her. Not because she was worried about Jinx or the child, but because she was worried about Cait taking a step too far and never being able to come back, just like Jinx did. And now it looks like Ambessa saw the same thing in Cait that Vi did, and she wants to push her even further. Personally, I think if someone like Ambessa thinks Cait is gonna be on her side, that's all the proof I need that Vi was right to try to pull her back.

Not really fair to call Vi stupid in that moment, you even said it, she was driven by emotion, for a moment she saw her sister and with the kid in the picture it was a situation of an unstable and rage driven enforcer having a gun pointed at a zaun orphan like they were, and its also that scene before they kissed, she asked Caitlyn to not change but she saw what revenge was doing to her, she even shot at Vi, if it was gonna be done it should've been done with a clear head
