I'll toss out a suggestion for Magic Knight Rayearth OP 3 "Hikari to Kage wo Dakishimeta Mama" it's quite a throwback (1995!), but it would be really interesting to see what Ravenclaw could get from it. Plus you get to remind old geezers (like me) who were watching anime back then how old they are :)

This is such a fun format and the video turned out really well. The monogatari openings alone could fill a whole series of this, trying to interpret the characters and arcs through the songs.
@KevKrieger328 күн бұрын
Undead by Yoasobi (Monogatari Monster & Off Season) would be interesting xD I don't know how to describe the plot, even though I watched it ^^ All first openings from bakemonogatari will be a ride :D
@Venomousse8 күн бұрын
Monogatari would be great but yeah, the problem would be picking which one(s) to do because there are so many amazing OPs.
@KevKrieger328 күн бұрын
@@Venomousse I wouldn't say it's a problem. They could do "special episodes" where they listen to songs of one anime. Eg. for the 10th episode they only listen to Monogatari songs (first season), or some openings from Naruto, One Piece, Bleach etc. (long series with multiple songs). I wouldn't do it always, but for special occasions it's fine
@smuganimegirl7698 күн бұрын
It would be fun putting in monogatari openings but not telling her they are all from the same show. I'm curious when she would call it.
@Unimportant8 күн бұрын
Haha. Asobi Asobase is a legendary show. Hana Kino, the voice actress who does the screaming in the ED song has one of the best performances I've ever heard. Such a range on her that elevates the comedy to a place where few people can. I'd love for the intro to Don't Mess with Eizouken to be included in a future video.

As a Mawaru Penguindrum fan, being unable to describe what the anime is about is so accurate.

Lucky Star's OP has great choreography because KyoAni was building on the viral popularity of Haruhi's ED, which was also a dance number. Haruhi was the real breakthrough for both KyoAni and composer Kousaki Satoru, who returned to compose Lucky Star's OST, including the OP, and is now most known for Monogatari's OSTs.

So happy to see another one of these! You should absolutely check out some of Sound Horizon's music on your own time. Wikipedia describes them as: "They describe themselves as a "fantasy band" and have released works that closely resemble classical suites. Their songs often revolve around historical events and classic fairytales." Linked Horizon is the name they use when making music for other people's stories, whereas Sound Horizon is the name they use when telling their own stories. As you might guess, they're all about sorytelling through music, and Revo, the composer, is very good at that. Also, huge props for doing the Asobi Asobase OP and ED together. That ending is so damn good. Those screams are legit, especially for a voice actors who I would guess probably aren't used to metal vocals. "Super unhinged" yeah that's a good description of the show in general. Etsuko Yakushimaru, the singer of the Mawaru Penguindrum OP is a fascinating person. She's an artist, having done drawing, poetry, recitation, installation art, and "a project that involved the use of satellite, biological data and biotechnology, a song-generating robot powered by artificial intelligence and her own voice, an independently-developed VR system, and original electronic musical instruments." Also "In 2017 she won the STARTS Prize for Artistic Exploration for converting her pop song I’m Humanity into DNA." EDIT: I got the song wrong because I'm not familiar with penguindrum, and listed the credits for the first opening before hearing that this was the second one, so here's the updated credits list: The credits for "boys, come back to me" list: Vocal & Chorus, Drums, Bass, Guitar & Piano, Percussion, Flute, Oboe, Trombone, Trumpet, Tenor Saxaphone, Strings. Still no useful info on the percussion. And finally we reach the Lucky Star OP. An absolute classic. And that makes me feel old as hell. 2007 wasn't THAT long ago, right? Right? But anyway, the bass really pushes that song forward. The sax in the background that shows up in a few places is doing some really cool stuff too. Overall the song has some really great rhythmic ideas, both in the instrumentation and the vocals. The vocals keep doing rhythmic variations on the same idea which keep you on your feet because you're never sure how they're going to change it up. I consider Lucky Star to be the show that marks the beginning of the "moe style" in anime art. Not that it's the first one to use the style, but in my mind it marks the moment when that style really began to completely take over as the dominant art style.
