I love Arcanum so much. I would kill for a remaster or remake that looked like this while keeping everything else untouched and preserved. Just cleaned up and refined.

@wn8963 Because the combat has not aged well. And I could reverse your comment back at you. Why does everything need a sequel? I think there are tons of games like Arcanum or Bloodborne that don't need a sequel. And it's not like I listed tons of games that I wanted to see remastered. But I feel games that have not aged well in some departments despite being classics could use a remaster or remake. Arcanum definitely being one or something like Ultima 7.

Ditto. The only glaring flaw of Arcanum was its combat system. Real time was a mess and shouldn't have been there in the first place, the Turn Based mode lacked overall polish and cool animations which Fallout had, for example. Despite that - I consider Arcanum a masterpiece. An unforgettable cRPG journey.

@@F10F11hm You absolutely get it. As an RPG experience few match up to the immersion of Arcanum, but combat is for sure one of the 9 circles of hell. If Arcanum had better animations and more polish on certain things like in the video. It would be flawless. The only other thing I'd argue for is having certain companions and quests fully fleshed out like they were intended to.

@@F10F11hm I'm one of those who loved melee hack and slashing in Arcanum, it felt so smooth, the only problem was you could cheat by switching from turn based to real time when opponents were on their turn, and the balance was crappy probably yes, I didnt pay attention to that as a kid, I just learned to cope with the game however made it was and used all the character builds fully to their advantages, ofcourse, some builds were extra easy, some were really hard and you needed to know all about the game to play those but that was the fun and joy of exploring games, nowadays we jump too quickly to the internet searching for solutions or demanding updates and balance patches :D

Oohhhh, you, sir, got me, right into my nostalgia! Thank you for that. God, I remember playing arcanum for weeks and weeks, even when I was a small child I still absolutely loved that world, story, characters and music. And I replay it every few years, able to appreciate it more as I grew up, noticing more details and understanding writing better. One of a kind game, even though it's close to fallout gameplay wise, the worldbuilding and atmosphere put it on much higher pedestal for me.

People don't realize that this can become a reality with the Microsoft Activision Acquisition since the original developers are also with Microsoft within InXile Entertainment and Obsidian Entertainment. Also this is absolutely fucking amazing, I really do love your style and how it captures the look of old CRPG's.

@@bwanatise Well the acquisition still needs time to settle and it will probably be a while until we get anything Arcanum related since InXile is working on Clockwork Revolution and an unannounced project and Obsidian is currently working on Avowed and Outer Worlds 2. Here's hoping they work this into the pipeline as Tim Cain has been talking about Arcanum a bit more recently and my hopes are exceedingly high!!!

To avoid confusion is not a new game or project. It's a concept made by Red888guns, creator of Fallout Olympus 2207. He is working with New Blood Interactive in a Fallout like CRPG with no name yet, and he is using the engine with certain default assets to recreate Arcanum on it for fun. He makes art and stuff of those games on his free time. There is little info about the project and probably will take long to know more, New Blood keep this in secret. What we know at today it's instead of post-apocaliptic the game looks before the war and full of retrofuturistic details. There are a few short videos that reminds of New Reno in Fallout 2. Said that, if things works perhaps we can have something like this in the future, but I'm almost positive it's unlikely because the plot of Arcanum ended pretty well, so IDK how to fit another adventure of that caliber in the same setting. Aside from being considered a great game, the plot of Arcanum it's quite solid.
