arcanum, nay, all of troika's titles that i have played have a certain depth of story that most games cannot even touch. the sheer volume and quality of backstory allows you to really get into the world, feel like you are a part of it. only now, with the continued success of Elder Scrolls titles have other games begun to glimpse it on the horizon. Yet even then, arcanum lies just outside their reach with its story's uniqueness and unforgiving realism.

@ChienesSaventPas It was the fact that they took Fallout on face value- Grimdark, bloody violence, and humour. The trouble is, yes it was dark, but there was an undertone of hope, and the tenacity of civilised life to cling to the wasteland and grow. Yes, there was violence, but it was supposed to be horrible and brutal, not jackass-level silliness. Yes, the humour was a HUGE part, but they missed the point entirely. It was supposed to be subtle black humour, not slapstick, in-your-face crap.

I don't know why people loved fallout 3. I felt it was poorly put together. I like a game with a deep story line, all you're doing in FO3 is looking for your dad. Arcanum is perhaps my favorite game of all time. Troika we miss you.
