Great video showing the worst possible situation that a guy would run into in regards to power delivery to the machine. Spot on woth the old breaker, we moved into a 20 year old house and could not run an eleteic griddle and toster on the same circuit in the kitchen. Afrer replacing the breaker with a new one, we have had zero issues with it popping since. Well unless I run the coffee maker at the same time heh.

Thanks for video. I agree with most everything you say. I have the AC145 and it is great for FCAW with AC 0.035 wire. Light easy machine to carry around for farm repairs. It tops out at about 105-107 amps for that mode on 20 amp circuit. Duty cycle is a concern and you need to stay less than 30% at that amperage. I stick weld with it as well and find I'm fine with 7018 3/32 rods at 85-90 amps. If I just work along cleaning slag and continuing on I find I can run 4-5 rods one after another no problem as long as i keep a nice tight arc. I'm fine with 7018 1/8 at 115-120 amps on RV 30 amp breaker with 10AWG extension cord, but I can only run one or at most two rods before the welder cord gets warm, but for many of my smaller jobs that's fine. In my hands with Hobart 7014 3/32 rods the arc goes out but restarts again? Not smooth, but welds are OK. The 6011 rods just don't run worth a damn.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
Seems odd that the arc would go out with 3/32" 7014's ....also strange that the 7018's stay lit & don't stick on ya...my 7018's are hard to lite up with the 145....really sticky especially on a restarted rod...new rods are considerably better
@JoeFarchausАй бұрын
@@NBSWELDING You know that is an interesting point. My Hobart 7018 rods happen to be a new container while the 7014 rods have been sitting around for an age. hmmmm? I reckon they are still dry but I wonder?
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
The type of 7018's you have could also make the difference that allows your 145 to run those better than mine. Some 7018's like the Hobart #770457 are AC 7018'S....those would definitely run better on the MIG 145 than the 7018 that I normally use because the ones I use are DC only.

MakingmistakeswithGreg did some videos recently about running machines on generators/120V power. Basically the cheaper machines are less efficient and rely on the breaker's magnetic trip it to momentarily pull more than its stated trip value. More efficient machines stay within the 20A rating of the breaker for the same output amps.

That 6013 beads look fantastic. I’ve stopped welding for awhile but just got into our new house and I got my outlets and breakers and stuff from my storage unit installed so I can run the mig 200 and my arc 50 on 220, my 200 likes 6013 like right around 97 amps ish, runs super smooth there. Yea I ran the tripping breakers game long enough at the storage unit I had to get a generator I can’t stand that crap
@slowb4lls127 күн бұрын
Also you went into that long dozination about these inverter welders and made a whole video discussing it and basically CB I’ve come to the conclusion, one simple thing, I just don’t try and run 6010 I just run 6011 if I need that type of digging rod or fast freeze, which isn’t a ton of time but it’s not major deal ya can’t run 6010 all that great cause these machines run the 6011 just fine, I would at least touch on and or cover that in ya video and maybe show em how it’s almost the same dealio with 6011 when you add a couple Judy chops and some 6011
@NBSWELDING27 күн бұрын
Thanks...glad you on a setup now with 220V outlets
@NBSWELDING27 күн бұрын
You say you just run the 6011 if ya need a fast freeze rod but I'm not happy with how they run 6011 either...yes they run 6011 better than 6010 but they aren't even close to running either one the way that a powerful high end machine will run them. I've done multiple videos on that subject kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIq1e4KdgayDbMksi=h5YqMhXDfiZY_Kxe
Love this video, C.B. especially we're we get to see your talent, i.e., welding uphill with that rod. Lol, "watch this shit"🤣 I believe there is a big market for these welders, providing they have someone like you to endorse them and test them and show how they are to be used. I also believe there is a market for people like me who want to make some money at welding but don't always want to spend big bucks on a machine that is going to be used on a work site where they could very well get handled roughly and damaged. My question is can I run them off my deisel engine drive generator without doing damage to them? I know they will run of them and I have seen you do it but there's been alot of talk about them needing to be run off an inverter generator. Thx for you time.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
I'm not an electrical expert but I've had no damage someone's far from running any of the ARCCAPTAIN machines off of my generators. I showed how the TIG 200P shuts down when connected to the 220V on my Miller Trailblazer 302 because the Trailblazer spikes voltage and the TIG 200P has a protection system that prevents damage from excessive voltage....by the way the TIG 200P runs off of my Lincoln Commander 300 diesel just fine...but the Commander doesn't spike voltage like the Trailblazer does....also the TIG 200P runs fine off of the Trailblazer on 110V Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I know you don't really like just welding coupons but man that was a great video with great info on that little welder. Really impressive machine! So thanks for doing that. I can't remember if you've tried 6011 with that one or not. Happy Thanksgiving CB!
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
I tried 6011 with the 145 and got about the same results as the MIG 200...just not enough OCV's to run 6010 or 6011 properly....sure you can run it but it's hard to light and then if you get it burnin' the arc sometimes goes out for no reason. Glad ya liked this video...I'll do more as much as I can afford the time...praying that someday the channel will grow big enough that I could get enough add revenue to cover my time...it's hard right now but I don't give up easy

@@NBSWELDING Well thanks for sticking with it. And I hope it takes off for you. I really like the repair work you do. That's what I prefer to do since I don't have a good place to do fabrication. I think I'm grab a 145 after your demos. Want to replace an old Lincoln SP100 mig machine.
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
Be clear that the ARCCAPTAIN MIG 145 won't MIG with gas...it's flux core only I hate the way they use the term MIG for a machine that won't MIG weld...it doesn't have a gas solenoid and can't be set on EP at the gun
@JonesMetalCraft29 күн бұрын

You tripped the breaker and that's OK, but it looks strange to me that the machine itself never went off because of over temperature... maybe that's because the electronics inside of it is very well designed or even capable of doing much much more, but I find this strange anyway.... Other than that, your vid is awesome, as usual...
@NBSWELDINGАй бұрын
Obviously the machine is just more capable than my old breakers
