I live down here in alligator country and these shrimp boats are always breaking stuff. I'm mostly just go down to the dock and plug this in and fix it while they unloading. I used to be a Pipefitters/ Boilermaker. Car wreck messed that up but I want to do something disability starving me these day. Anyway thanks again and God bless you brother. BTW. Thank you or sharing your experience with aluminum welding. Chances are I will never use that info however, it’s things I didn’t know. And I didn’t know anything about spool guns. I’ve gained a world of knowledge from your videos and some other welders as well. I can tell you first hand about 6011 rods for someone teaching themselves to weld it’s the easiest rod to use. I can’t even to begin to count how many 5 lb boxes of them I’ve burned. I’ve made numerous repairs on my farm equipment and built three hay trailers with 6011 and 7014 cap. After watching personal welders I’ve been using 5 p + 6010 and 7018 and been teaching myself to weld pipe. Trust me for old man who wears bifocals glasses welding the bottom of pipe is a trick! Still working on it don’t have it down pat yet! All the different idea and tricks you have shown has held me. I’m willing to bet there’s more then me in you tube land that learned from your sharing your experiences. Hope the new year bring you good fortunes and many blessings.

I am sure glad I caught this video, my Arccaptain MIG200 will arrive in a couple of days and after watching one poor review after the several positive's, I was questioning my choice. I ordered it after returning another brands 180 that I purchased after having such good results with their 225, I noticed yours on the bench. Your in depth review and real time demonstration of it's ability's has resolved my doubts. I know your skills have much to do with the results, and I appreciate both you and the machine. The demo of it's ability to stick weld is also what helped to convince me on my 225, I ran thru 5 -10lb. boxes of 1/8" & 5/32nd rods on a project and decided it was a keeper. LOL! The company is lucky to have you backing their products. Thanks for the review, now on to see more of your videos.

I am currently restoring a GTO and am stitch welding a lot of sheet metal. I would like to know more about the inductance and burn-back settings.

In my opinion the inductance settings on all machines does very little to change the behavior of the machine...the slight differences it makes aren't gonna have any real effect on your work...set it in the middle and forget about it...play around with it when you get bored. I've not messed with any burn back settings...can't really comment on that

Hey CB, I've never welder brocken down yet but towards the end of your weld it looks like you go from an upward rod angle to straight in and then it looks like you get a slight push angle. Is that what's happening or is it just how it looked on the camera? I thought with SMAW you were always supposed to drag.
@NBSWELDING5 ай бұрын
Normally drag or maintain a right angke but there are times in the vertical up position that you may use a push angle....vertical up is about the only time a push angle would be good with stick. MIG welding is often push and MIG aluminum should always be push

Great video. A 6011 is a great trash/ rust rod. Just a suggestion don't know how you do aluminum. On trash aluminum a wire wheel and brake cleaner makes a big difference. I always spray down aluminum with brake cleaner before I weld it. Just a suggestion. Although I do like 6013 where most don't for trash/rust rods, because it fills in better than 6011, just has more flux. I winder if they make a flex tip for the spoolgun. Hard to beat a spoolgun with a flex tip.
@NBSWELDING10 ай бұрын
Please research the dangers of using brake cleaners with welding...if you are doing that you are taking a serious risk to your health...when you heat brake cleaner with a welding process that includes argon gas and breath those fumes you are creating a poision that can kill you
@abcertweld10 ай бұрын
@@NBSWELDING yeah I hear that all the time. Most don't realize that is from one study that was disproved. Brake cleaner no longer has that particular chemical in it any more, because the Government made it illegal to use in the early 2000's. Plus brake cleaner evaporates with no residue. But hey people are going to think what they want, and keep old irreverent information in circulation.

If I have a dedicated 110volt outlet for the smaller stuff, what amp breaker do you recommend? 20amps?
@NBSWELDING10 ай бұрын
30 amps would be better but you cannot decide breaker size by your desired amps of draw because the only safe way to determine breaker size is by matching the breaker to the size outlet and wire that is used. If you have a 30 amp outlet and 10 gauge wire then you can use a 30 amp breaker and you'll have a pretty good high amp 110 volt outlet...however most 110 volt outlets are not rated that high and people mostly run 12 or 14 gauge wire for 110 volt stuff....if you put a 30 amp breaker on 12 gauge wire your taking a risk of causing a fire. If you can add 10 gauge wire and a 30 amp outlet to your power service then a 30 amp breaker would be fine.

As always, really enjoyed your video, but... We need YOU around to keep putting out great content: PLEASE consider using a proper respirator when welding ALUMINUM! Neglect of this safety parameter could result in acute and long term chronic lung issues, including Parkinsons. Be safe Brother!
@NBSWELDING7 ай бұрын
The amount of time I spend welding aluminum in the fairly well ventilated environment I do it in is not even close to enough exposure to require the use of a respirator. I'd be taking far more health risks if I ate fast food once a week. Thanks for your concern
@AXNJXN14 ай бұрын
@@NBSWELDING All things considered, and respectfully, that’s an analogy that just doesn’t hold up. Your body can biologically counteract ‘bad’ fast food with reduction and exercise to combat it. Poisonous aerosols contaminate your lung tissues, damages them, crosses the blood/brain barrier and will PERMANENTLY destroy cells, aside from toxicity levels the human body can’t rid itself of. My sister is dying FROM Parkinson’s disease and she was a secretary around a metal fab shop for almost 6 years with improper ventilation, which was the root cause of her diagnoses. But hey, if you think you can combat actual science, god-speed brother. Lungs are pretty hard to replace and even harder to correct as organs… You know best, hope your decision serves you a long life.

Hey man i don’t know if you’ll see this but I bought the machine a few months ago after watching you and others review it. I was wondering if you’ve ever ran it with a generator. It may be a dumb question. But I see people running MiG 150s and 180s and other welders off one just wondering how it’d do with the 200.

6011 is a life saver sometimes. What did you think about the gloves? Could they be a replacement for the Oil X, or a good second choice? Oh, and you might as well just settle for second most handsome welder on the internet.😂
@NBSWELDING10 ай бұрын
Gloves are very comfortable, flexible, and protective....they have the soft suede type leather on the back that would absorb water & oil though so they'll not replace the Oilshield gloves I like for the wet & greasy field work. A viewer ask when we were having the most handsome welder pageant...I'm not sure when that is scheduled for yet 🤔

I agree with you on the clarity of the grind mode on auto-darkening helmets. I wear a Lincoln Viking 3350 and love it but, if I’m doing a lot of grinding, I’ll take it off and put on my Fibermetal clear full face shield. As far as dirty aluminum, it’s satan’s metal! Absolutely EVIL!

Then you mean 7018 rod probably...there is no slash "/" in 7018 and 7018 is a rod not wire....I think we just got some differences due to speaking different languages. The ARCCAPTAIN MIG 200 runs 7018 in all sizes very well

Is 6011 better to penitrate and weld dirty shit than 7018 for first passes like 6010?
@botsbass84210 ай бұрын
Yes. 6011 is a fanatic rod for dirty material and good penetration. Not quite as much as 6010 but runs a bit smoother in my opinion and I'd rather have 6011 if i could only pick one

Lots of welders like to run a first pass of 6010 and then cap with 7018...if your machine won't run 6010 then 6011 is gonna be the best substitute. The idea would be to just use it to run a quick hot pass without really depositing a lot of material...then clean it off and cap it with 7018 if you really want the strength and crack resistance that you get from 7018

In my opinion, 6011 gets a bad wrap as a "farm rod" because farmers will weld their stuff in a hurry to get back to business. That means running it through paint, dirt, and rust. The farm and implement paint ain't no joke either... thick stuff. Anyway, the weld inevitably breaks and now it's the rod's fault. 😂 Clean it if you mean it!

Thanx to you I ordered that upgraded mig gun, now that things legit. I guess it’s called twelco or tweel or whatever style, either way the things built like its gonna hood up. The stock whip is just ehhh, Barely enough. I know for a fact their both wayyyy better than the stock whip that comes in the Lincoln baby flux welder I got. That whip is pure shit. Raggedy as hell and if you gotta replace it you gotta go take a couple of booster shots and show em proof, and then they ask you to bend over and drop like 120.00 for another shit replacement whip. Matter of fact, I can order another ARCCAPTAIN welder the MiG 130 shipped to my door is cheaper than me buying a replacement whip for the Lincoln fc90 welder. What a joke and shows ARCCAPTAIN isn’t really just bending folks over
