Hey, I just bought one of the mig 200s after owning one of your guys' tig 200 for several months. You think you could do a converted page for volts and inches per minute with imperial thicknesses of metal as like a PDF we can print to tape inside the door? Like a conversion sheet of wire speed from metric to standard. 5m/m =275inches per minute for 10mm (3/8") as an example?

Would love to make a few video’s about them, I currently own just a gasless small mig that I can’t even change the earth to positive as it’s hard wired, Due to being on a Disability pension at 58yo there is no way I could ever afford such a great welder. I have a similar inverter machine. It does the same thing where it cuts in and out on 6010, but if you use 6011, it runs perfectly fine like a regular 6010. 6010 and 6011 are nearly identical rods. Great review. I appreciate your honesty.

Pretty weird. I’ve heard some inverter machines struggle with cellulose based rods, but 6011 is too, so that’s weird. 🤷🏻‍♂️ All I know is it definitely doesn’t like it. Thanks for watching!
@JohnWheels
@JohnWheels 10 ай бұрын
@@Freedomfabrication777 I think the theory is this: 6010 is a DC only rod and 6011 is an AC/DC rod. With AC current, the circuit breaks momentarily at a rate 60Hz (60 times a second) which makes it hard to keep the arc lit. So, they put some extra chemical in the flux to help keep the arc lit on AC rods. Since the little cheap machine doesn't have a ton of umph, that extra chemical helps it stay lit even though you're running DC current. I could be wrong but maybe give it a try if you ever feel like it.

Very informative, thank you! I have a question. When you initially set up it looked like you went straight off the doors recommendation, but on mine they weren't even close. I initially ran mine with .030 on 120v and didn't have any trouble tripping the breaker, but I also feel like my settings were not taxing the machine at all when doing 10 gauge. I think my welds look pretty good all things considered, but being a beginner I'm wondering if my heat is way to low. What were your final settings were when doing flux core on the 10 gauge? Thanks!

Most of these inverter machines don't like cellulose stick electrodes like 6010. I have a PrimeWeld TIG 225 and a MIG 285 and they run great. I don't run a production or full time fab shop, but I know people who do and use these PrimeWelds. The electronics in them are actually superior to the transformer machines, although I would suspect the transformer machines will have a higher duty cycle and will probably last generations.

Most of the cheaper inverters won’t run 6010 bc the open circuit voltage isn’t high enough. Every time you whip it the voltage spikes and the machine will cut out. Seems like the higher end small inverters are the only ones that’ll run cellulose rods. I have a fronius transpocket 180 that runs them like a dream. For the price point it’s probably ok for an entry level hobby welder.

@Freedomfabrication777
@Freedomfabrication777 8 ай бұрын
My honest opinion/answer to your question is that it is a Chinese welder. And as you know, things made in china are typically cheaper. I believe that is due to the fact that most parts are made locally(in china) and the overhead is not as much as a machine made in the US, where a large part of the components are made in other countries and have to be shipped in. I also don’t think you can expect Miller or Lincoln quality while still paying $500. Thanks for watching!
