Good points. I own a 2017 911 Carrera, and recently have gotten several emails from my dealer wanting me to come in and get an appraisal on my car, then consider a newer used car, or order a new one. Since I only put around 6000 miles a year on the car, I don’t plan to let it go anytime soon. Thanks for the info.

You know when dealers are doing that it’s not for your benefit 🙄 I had a mate who bought an m850 he had it a year and bmw dealer rang him up and said we will buy your car back for what you paid for it, he was all ready to go and trade it in (it was when waiting lists were at their longest) luckily for him he was telling me about it and I said to him they are mugging you off! Look at the prices of everything else around it. (He soon changed his mind when he saw an m8 was not 135k with no reductions from list) The dealers weren’t calling people up to come in when they had waits and people paying overs, now the markets cooled they are hastling you to get in 🤔

Interesting video. I'm in the UK, you're right, you can't compare the markets. The reason the market is slowing down so fast in the UK, which you did touch upon, is because interest rates at Porsche are now 12% apr. Plus we had another 10% price increase a few months back with 14% on options. Not sure if that was worldwide? Strange, as production costs were falling as it happened, but Porsche wanted more margin. At least they are honest. The two combined have made a huge difference to the overall ownership costs. I was looking at a new 992 Carrera, just a few options, it was £89k, at the start of the year, same spec is now £104,000. Finance before price rise and interest rate hike was... £89,000 £20,000 deposit 48 x £751 Final payment £46000 Now... £104,000 £20,000 deposit 48 x £1438 Final Payment £47000. So price up £15,000 but residuals only £1k more, combined with interest rates at 11.9% is making it almost double to buy it if you are using finance. Combine this with people's energy bills now double (Thanks Biden and Ukraine for blowing the gas supply pipe into Europe! haha) and mortgage rates up from 2% to 5.5-6% meaning many people will have seen their mortgage rates go up 50-60%, food bills up nearly 100% over the last 4 years, inflation at an all time high because the country who is the reserve currency can't stop printing more and more money out of thin air, and our government did the same during the pandemic, and people are starting to really feel it. And it is the middle class that is getting hit hardest, all over leveraged, while interest rates were low they didn't pay down their debts, they bought more and more shiny things on credit. Well, now the squeeze is on, many can't afford the Range Rover Sport for the missus (on finance) while they have their Macan for daily duties and the 911 for the weekends (all on finance). I think you would be amazed at the average household income of Porsche buyers in the UK vs US. It is something like $110,000 pa vs $300,000 pa in the US. Suddenly, people just have not got any money spare at the end of the month. Also, residual values have always been around 50% after 4 years on Porsche before 2020, suddenly they were more like 80-90%. So loads of people bough them because it was seriously cheap motoring, costing about the same as a 320i. Now that we are back to them depreciating like normal those who were pretending they could afford them.....well....they are not buying this time around. The UK is a very different market, over 90% of all new cars are financed, and to be fair it often makes sense, borrowing cheap, residuals high, you could be in an £90k 911 for £750 month and then get your £20k deposit back at the end. The reality now is you will pay £1500 a month and wave good bye to that £20,000 deposit and throw the keys back. Hence new car sales are through the floor. Until interest rates come down, or Porsche subsidises them there is going to be stock racking up in dealers. BMW offering up to 20% off new X and M Cars at the moment and 4% apr. Porsche need to follow suit.

You are completely right. But People in the UK and USA have short memories. Because before 2008 crash the interest rates was around 6 to 7%. And for 15 years the interest rates was around 1%. Now the interest rates is around 5.5% , UK folks are feeling the pain. I don't believe the interest rates won't hit US folks. US income tax is more than the UK.

Could have done a video yourself 🙏 Really liked the real world figures you put up demonstrating the extreme rise in monthly cost. Jay -emm pointed out on a recent video that due to the increase in interest rates even cars with 10-15k off their price still cost more to buy these days. I can’t see how things won’t drop a bit further. I can’t see interest rates dropping much if at all below 5% base rate for a good few years now personally. Wish I’d done more research into historic base rate, I believe in the last 50 years the average is about 9%! Should have locked a 20 year mortgage deal in at 2.5% 😂
@GuyMiddletons Жыл бұрын
@@stu4181Haha, thanks. I was telling everyone to lock in a 10 year mortgage during 2020 when they were available at 2.1%. Can't just lock the world down, give out billions, print even more trillions and not have any thing other than super inflation, which in turn gets them all panicked and putting interest rates up. Porsche increasing prices by around 12%, lower residuals (now the bubble has burst) and 12% apr is going to hurt. Don't panic too much about interest rates, they will be sub 4% again by end of next year imho. Inflation is already falling in many sectors, in fact, many are seeing deflation, but that is on products being ordered that we will not see in the marketplace until next year, the problem with the Bank Of England and other central banks is they are looking at outdated data, the last quarters figures tells us sod all, the reality of that is products and prices then were mostly costed in 6, 12 or even 18 months before they were being sold. Many things that went up 20% during the lockdowns are back down again, not 20%, but 10 even 15% in some cases, but like I said, we won't feel that till next year as they are not going to hit the market place until then, but even a 10% dip is still deflation.

@@GuyMiddletons I locked in a 5 in 2020 should have been braver 😂 Hopefully you are correct and another year and they will be somewhere near 4% Would you make a cheeky offer on the next step up house wise now and just get a short term mortgage which will be painfull for a year or so then re mortgage when rates drop and you’ve then got the house cheaper??

Depends where you live and in which country you live in. I see a lot of 991.2 and 992 3.0L twin turbo models on the market in my jurisdiction along with a disproportionate number of both 991.2 and 992 Turbo and Turbo S models. The models that are holding well are GT division cars (any of them) and to a lesser extent other NA models. Even in the GT market there are real trends, very large spread of prices on 992 GT3 and the ratio of 992 GT3 to 991.2 GT3 on the market is 2:1.

I think new cars will come down some, at least for the non GT trims, but we are not going to get 20-30% drop. A 10% drop in prices might be a good for the market. I think Porsche really wants to make enough 911 and set the msrp so that dealers are not going to be able to put ridiculous markups on them anymore. Even the GT trims Porsches are making so many of them they really should not be considered special edition anymore. At the end of the day a small correction is going to be a good thing. But no way the prices are going to crater, especially for the used car market. The new 911s msrp is so high now that it is going to drag all the used car prices up - A brand new 911T loaded will cost more than 140k MSRP… that’s more than a loaded GT3 from the 997 era and like 50k more than the equivalent version (black edition) from 2010. Result? Used 911 have plenty of headroom to stay “relatively”expensive… because it is cheaper (and more accessible) to get into one than the new ones. And this brings me to my final point as to why older 911 won’t see much (if any) price drop - This whole “newer is better” really don’t apply to 911s - each generation of 911 offers a different driving experience so 911 fan would actively seek out older versions and pay a premium for them. The only 911s I can see would potentially be impacted by any reduction in 992 prices are the 991.2 generation, but again, the MSRPs on the new one has gone up so much with the 992s the 991.2 looks like a relative bargain even at near MSRP after 5years
@impslap762011 ай бұрын
I agree with all of your points, save for one. If Porsche really wanted to make more 911's they would. Dealer inventory is currently overflowing with Macans, Taycans and Cayennes so the "supply chain" excuse is moot.

Some people prefer one brand and feel better than in the other car, which is cool. Enjoy both in good health.

I'm on my 4th Porsche (992 Carrera T manual), a few I bought with cash so interest rates aren't an issue. Dealer treatment depends on the dealership - I've had nothing but great experiences and I'm a regular guy. The cars are designed to do everything, and Porsche is the most valuable luxury brand in the world now - these prices aren't going anywhere. In addition to dependability, you have a vast dealer network. I live 5 miles from my Porsche dealer - 90+ miles from Ferrari, McLaren and Lambo dealers. No thanks to spending my whole day servicing a car. Hold onto your manual 911's, I know I am.

I'm just checked and gt3rs there's 11 listed and they are selling for 290-340k. So u either don't live in the US or ur lying. Just like this video said they are PREDICTING A DROP. Drop hasn't happened yet and like I said people will want the last full GAS cars made by porsche. Gt cars are all still 70-100k above sticker. The targa gts is 50k over sticker. All 992 models like the turbo s targa gts are above sticker rn. Only the 5 year old 991s are FINALLY dropping down in price. I've watched countless videos of people begging for a GT allocation just look it up. Everyone is waiting in line. Ur just making shit up cuz teslas are depreciating by 60,000 $ in ONE YEAR. No one wants em. Look up sold tesla plaid and listen to all the issues and people saying how much better handling and breaking their porsche or bmw was. Only people that have never experienced a real high end luxury sports car likes them. U talk about gt3s not being cool? If u showed up to a car meet in ANY porsche vs a tesla you would get WAY more attention and people asking about ur car/taking pics. I've seen teslas at car meets collecting dust in the corner. After 5 years the old 991 versions are finally dropping in price. Wow. Who knows bra maybe in 50 years they will be the new classics

@@G82Watts dude, I live in Orlando, Florida if you go to AutoTrader right now and type in GT3, GT3 RS you will see there are 491 available Nationwide. So tell me how people are waiting eagerly to get an allocation when there are so many available on the internet. 🤣 Maybe you should do your homework before you start spouting useless crap. 👈😘 I've driven Porsches, I remember back when they used to be fast. Tesla took care of that And it took them less than a decade to do it. If you love buying overpriced underpowered cars, that's great. You're probably the same guy who paid $13,000 for the William and Kate Pez dispenser. 🙄 Do your research before you post so you don't look so ignorant.
