I posted a comment on this video like 5 years ago, but I want to make a new comment for the sake of clarity: When I first watched this scene as a kid, I blamed Arcee for what happened to Smokescreen after. I thought she was just being angry and mean just because she didn't like his attitude on matters. *That's what I thought as a kid,* of course I didn't know better. But rewatching this scene after all these years, I totally understand Arcee now. She hammers the point in perfectly, and hits Smokescreen where it hurts not to put him down, but simply to educate him. What makes it even better is the level of maturity that's put into it. People often call Arcee as a motherly figure, but here is when that becomes most apparent. Out of all other depictions I've seen about parental figures lecturing or disciplining someone younger, this is the best one. I applaud both Sumalee Montano and the writers who wrote this specific line, *"You might actually become a great warrior one day, and I sincerely hope that you do; but greatness begins and ends with putting the team first!"* As for Sumalee Montano, she adds so much sternness and care to the delivery of the dialogue that it's hard for me to imagine anyone better suited for the role, especially for this one moment.

@@Raz0rsab3r I'm sick of the Optimus crap. I don't know who he thinks he is but he has the entire team obeying him like they're children. They're all full grown adults. I get one has to make all the main decisions and call the shots but he takes it way too far. They can't breathe without asking him. So I loved how Arcee bent the rules once in a while. Turning off the comlink was Smokescreen being irresponsible. If Arcee never gave him that talk, he would've gotten into more reckless crap and end up getting himself killed. I'll forever side with Arcee on this one.

Arcee's point here doesn't make much sense to me. She is telling Smokescreen that he needs to stop being a Hero/ Great Warrior or whatever, but the Show never actually shows Smokescreens attitude to be a bad thing nor does anything bad come out of it. Smokescreen is young, inexperienced but well-mannered and willing to do what is necessary to help others. The only time Smokescreen showed a disregard for safety is when he took Jack with him the Legacy episode which Smokescreen apologized to Arcee for, and she straight up didn't accept it... If Smokescreens destiny like attitude was such a big deal, the Autobots would have corrected it WAY before Smokescreen lost the Omega Key. Also, Smokescreen didn't lose the Omega Key because he was arrogant or prideful, he literally got decked in the back because Starscream just happened to be in the area. If anything, its Bulkheads fault for allowing Smokescreen to go off by himself to get the relic when he had no context for what other Decepticons might have been after it. Also the fact that Smokescreen says it's his fault and he blew it, which isn't even entirely true, Smokescreen was too hard on himself as he had no control over what happened. Yet the show makes it seem like it's his fault for what happened. It doesn't make sense and its really stupid how it comes out of nowhere. Also Arcee comes off as jerk here when she really has no right to. Let's not forget that in the same episode, Arcee mocked Smokescreen saying "Destiny awaits" before she and Bee pissed off to go get the other relic, she wasn't exactly helping Smokescreen, if anything she made it worse. The show does a crappy job of addressing Smokescreens attitude and the only reason it happens the way that it does is because the writers needed Smokescreen to get captured and so they made it so he just gets upset and leaves the base... Its really crappy attempt to make Arcee correct him when it really doesn't make sense to do so.

Something we've sorely been needing around here; I know those keys are important to you guys and Smokey knows that too. So next time, think before you speak!!!" *Rushes out of the base to find him* Bulkhead: *Looks at the sadness in Arcee's optics* "She's just upset, Cee. Just give her time to cool off." Arcee: "Is she right though? Was I too harsh on him?" Optimus: "Your words were spoken with the interests of the team at spark, but perhaps they should've been worded a little differently, or at least in a less emotional moment."
