I remember when I took my Gi top off they thought I still had it on. Some were even blinded by my paleness, lol. Good stuff, thanks for uploading these.

Interesting clip. I am a Uechi practitioner and find all forms of Sanchin fascinating. Also thanks for making me aware of Master Chen Zhonghua. I am learning his Yilu form now. Cheers.

"Do Kata exactly, but fighting is another matter." - Choki Motobu , It takes years of full contact sparring to understand what bunkai works where in a fight, and what alternate skills you need to apply to any situation. However, If I'm fighting a Sanchin-trained 2nd dan+ heavyweight, I NEED a decent thrust kick to keep him from just running right over me. I'm 185 when circuit training. If you punch a Sanchin-trained heavyweight in the body, it's not going to hurt them unless you hit them directly in a vital point FULL POWER. Otherwise, they'll just laugh it off. Even a good thrust kick might not be enough to stop the toughest heavyweights fi you are not a heavyweight yourself. I can't prove that I ever "beat" Matt Griega, 2nd dan heavyweight, in a sparring match, because I suspect he was holding back on me. I definitely know i never beat Mark Myers, my immediate Sensei and Grand Master Advincula's student, who was 4th Dan and around 235 to 245lbs at the time, not a shred of fat on his body. If a Heavyweight has mastered Sanchin Kata you may as well skip the body blows and aim for the jaw or temple with your punches, unless you are also a heavyweight anyway.

Gand Master Michael Storms used to break Okinawan Bos over Mark Myers' solar plexus, forearms, and legs. I saw it with my own eyes. He hit Mark full power with the bo from a good standing guard, and the bo did not break on the first swing. So he took a step back and ran into it and swung full power, and the bo broke across Mark's solar plexus. He just grunted one time. Then at the end of the kata, he laughed it off. Michael Storms was himself a 235lbs heavyweight at the time and 4th dan at the time, I believe 9th dan now. So imagine how hard he had to hit him. He was using the best bo in the dojo, so it had no knots and was a solitd piece of core Oak wood from the best part of a tree. That's how hard you need to hit a heavyweight who is sanchin trained.

As hard as this might be to believe, I saw Grand Master Advincula tap Sensei Mark Myers out about 8 or 9 times out of 10 in a submissions only duel at a 50 hour seminar around 1999 or 2000 or so. I think he was something like 63 to 65 years old at the time and Mark was in his middle 30s at the time.
