This is all pretty cool, but in the "AR" part with the hole in the ground, the hole is clearly just smoothly interpolating between two positions. He's not actually controlling the hole.

I was using a similar process to map WWII sites in Northern Australia and model a virtual landscape for interactive exploration. It is a pity ArcGIS is so expensive as this puts the process out of reach of a significant number of avocational researchers and developers.
