That was a lot of fun. Liked + subbed! 🤘🔥 They've been around for almost three decades. This single dropped out of nowhere. It's stylistically different compared to their last album which was more heavy metal inspired. This song is more reminiscent of their early 2000s music. The "golden era" for many fans. What's cool is that the instrumentals are of a previous era but it's a different vocalist. One critisizm of the current vocalist is that she hasn't got the "teeth" of the previous vocalist. It's LESS brutal if you can believe it. In this song she really digs deep and the fans love it. Arch Enemy is famous for being the pioneers of female heavy vocals. There were others but none with equal success. Today there are lots, many inspired by this band. Alissa the vocalist grew up listening to the famous previous AE vocalist. Little did she know she'd one day replace her. They just got a new guitarist and he's killing it as well. He's a close friend of the original second guitarist which is the brother of the band leader. AE got famous among guitarists because of the two brothers.

Appreciate that! That was a well thought out reply. So far since I've been doing this channel I've been getting out of my 'new metalcore only' box. Its been pretty fun checking out new and the new to me bands. I'll definitely be listening to some more Arch Enemy though!

Big fan of AE, but I somewhat agree with your take on this specific song, which is big departure from their usual style. It's a fun to listen to as an art piece or in a music listening session, but it's a bit too chaotic and the chant-like vocals don't lend themselves to general listening in the car/gym/garage, which I guess is how it goes with thrash as a genre. Their last album (Deceivers) and every other album to be honest, is lot more in line with Melodic Death Metal than this song. Even the other oddity song from the last album ("Deceiver, Deceiver"), which also had a bit of a thrash flavour to it, had enough melody to make it a winner for any occasion outside a wedding.
