anarchy linux is arch with a super easy installer. and you can get non-free drivers for your GPU if you want. maybe check the iso out if you got 10 minutes in a vm. :)

Same here. Flirted with Linux when I was a kid and you could order physical Ubuntu CDs shipped to your physical mailbox (damn, it was ages ago 8.04 and 8.10), but the actual time I switched to daily driver Linux is Manjaro sometime summer 2018, and when I advice my friends to try Linux, this would be in top 3 "just works" distros form me. The other one I like are ArcoLinux and now I daily drive Garuda KDE edition (the most heavily styled and bloated one, yes). Funny thing that all of those are arch based, have good communities and ship with nice tweaks and various GUI tools for making easy some regular system maintainance tricks and common fixes

I've been on Ubuntu or an Ubuntu based distro since 8.04 i finally switch to Endeavor OS a couple of weeks ago. I also migrated from mostly useing xfce to the exclusively useing kde. Wow best decision ever. The yay command is my favorite thing ever. Can't believe I waited this long to switch ."life is good"

Endeavor OS. If you want a close-to-base arch install choose Endeavor. When you're ready then try a base Arch install. Good Luck!

Don't know why, but after installing endeavourOS, manjaro or any arch based distro (beside Arch GUI) on my laptop, my bt mouse stops to respond in few seconds after system starts. :( Any ideas, guys? Zorin or KDE neon works just fine.

The biggest difference is that endeavour uses the Arch repo and one own for the endeavourOS specific apps. Manjaro have their own repos and does not use the Arch repo.

On manjaro, for example, I can play cyberpunk 2077 (for example) using lutris with the same or maybe more fps than on linux, but on endeavour OS, it gets like 10, 20 fps, literally unplayable, do you have any idea whyt?

Manjaro KDE Plasma user here. I luv how it looks and after switching pulseaudio to pipewire... my random poping/crackling sounds finally has disappeared! In fact, my Topping D70 DAC & THX 789 AAA Amp sounded even better! My only complain for now are some of the windows and programs aren't consistent in looks. A few of them don't follow the desktop theme. 😔

I love eos :3 The ability to have arch, without worrying over whether I can install it was really relieving. Been using it for almost 2 months now, and I'm super happy with it. Everything just works, and the things that don't don't because they're just not installed. And the idea of installing something you need instead of uninstalling something you don't I quite appreciate.

I'm running both in Virtualbox on top of MX Linux. I really like the AUR and that you can get the latest versions of software on both these Arch-based distros, an example being Krita 5 on Manjaro and EOS while being stuck with Krita 4 in the latest version of Debian-based MX Linux. Years ago I ran Debian itself. While it offered tons of software, a lot of them were very updated. EOS's forums have a reputation for friendliness, but I really like how the XFCE version of Manjaro is set up, so I'm going to continue to test it in Virtualbox.

I came to EOS a while ago from pop os. I wanted to try an arch based distro, but didn't want to ditch gnome, so EOS seemed like the way to go. I thought Manjaro was KDE only, but apparently they got it all. I didn't like the direction System76 is taking the cosmic desktop and would prefer a more default gnome shell and EOS did not disappoint. A clean EOS install with the latest gnome felt super clean and responsive. But I guess that is the beauty of linux.

So.... which one is best? Kidding. Might try out Endeavours at some point. I'Ve been a manjaro fanboy for almost 2 years now. Although then maybe I should just prepare myself a full ARch system. This is more of a curiosity thing - I actually quite like the balance that Manjaro offers, with "delayed" but still rolling updates. Very few times have I had any issue, mostly Nvidia-related stuff with kernel update. Which I seem to have fixed with dkms.

I love EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma! Been on it from day one (Antergos before it), and have lost all interest in distro hopping once I started with Antergos (Sort of Endeavour's predecessor). I couldn't be any happier with a distro. I tried Manjaro before I found Antergos, and it was way too bloated and buggy for my taste. Endeavour has been taking in lots of Manjaro refugees in the last few years! OK, so the Brittish English "let's be french" spelling is weird! (

Not too relevant but I really love Manjaro's dark greenish color scheme. Other distros and OSes tend to gravitate towards a lighter green or some gradients that are (in my opinion) less aesthetic.

I recently switched over to Endeavor after using Manjaro and Fedora KDE for a few years due to those distros feeling like the slowed down a lot. Come to find out that it was KDE that was just slow as Endeavor started to do the same so I switched out KDE for Cinnamon without reinstalling. Probably gonna stay on Cinnamon at least until Ubuntu 24.04 or Fedora 40 comes out. I may even run the Fedora Cinnamon spin definitely staying away from KDE until I can get an SSD for my rig. Some reason KDE works fine on my laptop that has an SSD but gets sluggish on my main more powerful desktop that just has a HDD. I may end up just keeping this Endeavor distro installed on my desktop and just put Fedora 40 or Ubuntu 24.04 on that laptop. I can't really use rolling distros on the laptop as that laptop may be in a drawer unused for months and I dont wanna have to troubleshoot errors for when 800+ updates fail to install.

I wonder if Manjaro's testing or unstable branches might work better and be closer to vanilla Arch? I've also had this issue where an update borked my sound or something for no apparent reason. In any case EOS seems to stay out of the way when it comes to updates and doesn't hold things back. I guess Manjaro does this to make sure nothing breaks in their customized desktop versions?

I have not tried EOS but I've been using Manjaro since I switched from windows close to 2 years ago. I have not found it to have any problems at all. It runs on all my systems very smoothly. I like the idea of trying out other flavors of Arch but then I always come back to why? Manjaro ticks off all the boxes for me.

last try with Manjaro there was an issue with the system password, the GUI package manager would NOT work recently ran the EndeavourOS ISO and it mucked with my Mint grub, update-grub fixed things but WOW 😳 that caused me some distress but can you imagine someone with less experience... so ALL my Arch adventures have ended badly, alway back to Mint Mate... maybe if I could afford another laptop, or better yet a desktop with internet, but I just can't afford that and with the food prices rocketing 💲🚀🌕

I hopped alot between endeavor and fedora, ATM on fedora in dual boot with windows 11 (if the kids need it for school projects). Endeavor and fedora are on the same nr1 place for me, the moment ms office comes to Linux for the kids there school stuff i dual boot both. Choices can be hard 😋

With arch getting relatively easy installer, endeavour needs to do more than just theming. It was already in a strange place between manjaro and arch, where it catered to users that were not beginners and did not prefer text based installer of arch. With arch now encroaching on that niche, it has to make space for itself somehow

The EndeavorOS install is still MUCH simpler and more straightforward than using the Arch installer. It's in a good place, imo. Arch has a long way to go on their installer before it even comes close to EndeavorOS.

Manjaro has been my default OS for several years now and it feels like home if I use some other OS its just does not feel right. When I started using Linux I was distro hoping every week and tried many Linux distros ranging form Fedora to Debian and even did Arch the hard way and did learn a lot on about Linux in the process. Oh I use Cinnamon Manjaro with stock Manjaro theme and add Plank for a dock.

I switched to Linux as my daily drive November 2020 and start with Manjaro, as I had also switched from Ubuntu to Arch based distros. Then I discovered EndeavourOS a few months later and have been largely using it since then. Unfortunately, as as late, I am loosing productive because simple things like Bluetooth and pCloud with Dolphin is just not working and Lord knows I don't have time to troubleshoot. That said, during the holiday break, I think I'm ready to head back to Manjaro. Thanks for the comparison and God bless.

I would like to try EndeavourOS, because that purple HAS ME IN LOVE, but I can't sacrifice the time needed to perhaps get the system fully up and running. So, staying with Manjaro, in which usually everything works out of the box, until and if ever I get the chance to give EndeavourOS the attention it deserves. You should give it a shot when you can for sure. It’s Arch,m with lube so you don’t cry, and just sooooo lightweight for what it is. I’m that kind of user though; I want my OS lean on install but I don’t have the time to waste dealing with the rough edges of base Arch. Endeavour has really checked those boxes for me.

I'd advise people to just build arch for the best experience, but if you're a very busy man like myself I'd say go with Endeavor over Manjaro for one simple reason. Manjaro for some reason uses it's own repos so occasionally packages I build from the AUR break as a result of a requisite program being slightly different from what it is in the arch repository. Other than that they're both very good and accentually arch with all of the pros and cons that come with a rolling release distro.

I have tried both. My pc dont have any dedicated graphics card. From a nutshell, we can say manjaro is bloated, but to be frank manjaro worked so smoothly in m pc, while despite being bloat-free endeavour os was kind of lagging and too heavy to my hardware. Manjaro works fine and even after customizing it to exactly looks like macos monteray, it still works fine without any lag and runs smoothly. so my vote is for manjaro.

Not everybody wants to be a professional Linux installer. Most of us have a life outside 'fixing' whatever went wrong this time.. If your career choice is being a Linux distro developer then more power to you, but you are in a tiny minority.

I know this isn't for everybody, but if you don't care to understand your system, there are better alternatives in point release distros such as ubuntu, mint, popos, etc. If you're committing to a rolling release distro, why not do it properly and learn how to fix it when something inevitably breaks or requires manual intervention? If you don't want to fix your system, then rolling release isn't for you, and that's okay.

@@timidgoldfish Stable distros are bloated and require huge updates every few months. Smaller incremental updates over time lead to a more consistent experience. Which is why Manjaro is so nice. It isn't so bleeding edge that you spend half of your timing fixing stuff and isn't stable so that you spend hours removing bloat and reconfiguring every time a new release drops in. The semi rolling model is best for people who just want to work on their computer and switch it off instead of wasting time.

@@user-he4ef9br7z If someone is too lazy to configure their own system or fix it when it breaks, I think "bloat" is the least of their worries. If you just want a stable desktop experience, LTS distros work just fine and stay supported for a long time. Plus, when you say removing bloat and re-configuring, it sounds more like something an enthusiast would do, which leads back to my point. If you want a good experience tinkering with your system then might as well sink a few hours into installing arch at least once to understand how some of the core components are put together. And just from personal experience, I've had Manjaro break on me a few times in the past.

On top of that they might lack more recent software and patches one might require. Manjaro will of course break, not nearly as often as Arch, at least in my experience. Configuring the work environment is hardly something confined to enthusiasts. Configuring is essential if one intends to be maximally efficient in their actual work. Most people won't find any use playing with config files all day, but those who configure it once and add a line or two every now and then have much to gain. Pretty much everybody agrees a bloated system is bad, regardless of how much time one spends on their computer no one wants things on their computer that they'll never use. People who want to spend less time on their system aren't necessarily lazy, it's just that they've got other work to do. At the end of the day, a computer is a tool, not a toy. If configuring your workflow gets in the way of actual work then that is a veritable waste of time. I won't say unstable distros are of no value. They are the perfect choice for people who would benefit from understanding more about their system, sysadmins, programmers (although from what I have seen professionals tend to use Ubuntu if they use Linux at all), or technology publishers (youtubers etc.), but the vast majority of people don't fall in those categories.

It is much easier to install the Nvidia driver on Manjaro. Yesterday I tried to do it on Endeavor OS, it crashed.

I prefer bauh to pamac. Pamac is good when you need to find software but if you know what you want bauh is more lightweight and I prefer the simpler interface

Endeavor - looks amazing. Tooo bad the recent ISO - fails frequently and if that wasn't bad enough - theres a "bug" that causes the GRUB to drop you right into the BIOS settings with no actual boot screen. Not so good - for such a promising Linux Distro.

I am using Linux now for 1.5+ years and loving it. But whenever I tried to distro hop to Arch distribution I found it difficult to use. Always have touchpad issues. But Ubuntu and it's derivatives I never had any of those issues. Currently, I am using Elementary OS as my daily driver.

Kinda the opposite for me. Have tried Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Zorin OS (all Ubuntu-based) and the trackpad was a hell to use. Just tried Manjaro for the first time and everything works absolutely flawless from the get-go.

Endeavor always gets my vote over Manjaro. I've read too many times about the Manjaro devs views about security. Not only that, Endeavor is much closer to Arch.

Could you make a video on KaOS vs Manjaro? I love Manjaro (I like KDE DE) but I feel it has too much stuff that I don't need and I am a bit scared/lazy to go for Endeavour or directly with Arch. So far, KDE Neon has been the one that doesn't have much pre-installed, solid under the hood and uses KDE as well. So I was wondering what's going on with KaOS. Like what is the limit of that OS for a regular user.

As a former Manjaro Linux user for 3 years, and have also used Arch Linux and Endeavour Linux, I can definitely say, Manjaro Linux is the best of the three. although in the end I'm more comfortable using Debian linux.

Tried KDE of both... Endeavour OS is updated almost like Arch. But there were alot of bugs that hampered my OS experience as A Developer. Manjaro KDE holds all updates for 2 weeks but it is super easy to set it up and start to work. As a developer, I need to install alot of tools and I felt Manjaro made it very easy to set it up. For example when I set up zsh and then tried few sdks like and it had issues on endeavour regarding my locales and other stuffs
