Amnon Ben-Tor, Hebrew University Professor and the renown archaeologist excavating at Hazor, spends 15 minutes teaching the importance of Hazor, identifying some key finds at Hazor, explaining the strata at Hazor and pointing out the Canaanite city gate and cultic podium uncovered at the city gate. Dr. Carl Rasmussen has brought his class to Hazor. Galyn Wiemers video tapes the conversation.

Sure there are some nice finds from Hazor, like fragment of that Egyptian Sphinx. 1:41. How did it get there, and by whom was it brought there?

It was Canaanite and was destroyed by fire in the 13th century. What does that sound like?

Amazing that the Bible records Joshua's burning of this and many other cities of the Amorites (OT Joshua Chapter11) and you don't trust the Bible? Not even as a historical record? I am amazed at how an historical record is disregarded because of it's religious significance. The Western world and it's fascination with it's materialistic world view is bewildering to me. The whole world which you are examining is shrouded in the supernatural with monuments to the deities they serve and according to the OT it was these deities and what they sacrificed to them (child sacrifice was common) that brought them to their end. Joshua was to spare none of them and not to touch anything of theirs particularly their idols. He burnt their cities or they fell down from just walking around them for a week! It was divine judgment according to the record and that was told to Abraham 400 years prior..........the reason for the wait? their (Amorites) iniquity was not yet complete,(Genesis 15:16). If He judged the Amorites for their iniquity as He did, I wonder what is in stall for us in the West with out iniquities? Or am I witnessing it right now (25 June 2020)

Recent studies have shown that modern inhabitants of Lebanon share over 94% of DNA with ancient Canaanites. Meaning, the Canaanites weren't genocided by the Israelites; yet another Old Testament fiction. The origin story of the Hebrews recounted in the OT is almost entirely devoid of supporting physical evidence, ofc; characters such as Joshua, Moses, David, Abraham, Noah etc are obviously as fictional as -Yehousha ben Yosef- Jesus (the) Christ. Per Jewish historian Shlomo Sand _('The Invention of the Jewish People')_ most Israeli Jews have little to no genetic link with ancient Hebrews; so not only is the Old Testament account false with regards to the extinction of the Canaanites by the Hebrews, as it turns out, vanishingly little remains of the ancient Hebrews, while the descendants of the Canaanites have managed to persist as a distinct genetic group for thousands upon thousands of years. Curious how the denizens of Israel are called Israelis, rather than Israelites. More names makes the fraud easier to perpetuate I guess (Hebrews, Israelites, Israelis, Judahites, Jews, Benjamites, Zealots, Levites, Pharisees, Semites, Ashkenazi, Sephardim, Khazars etc etc ad infinitum ;)

Though they may be similar doesn't mean that they are causal... We can conclude using scholars that the 10 commandments were not influenced by hammurabis code, including 613 jewish laws... care to elaborate ignoramus?

Hazor is Jericho, it matches the description perfectly and its on a hill which makes it perfect for the israelites to encircle it 7 days.

They came from gilead which is gilgal rephaim, towards mount meron which is shechem, and they passed Hazor the real Jericho. Deuteronomy 11:30

Jericho HAS to be positioned near to the crossing at Gilgal, where Israel were encamped before the crossing. Archaeologists have identified the walls have fallen in a manner consistent with an earthquake. Jericho, being close to the Jordan was NOT on a hill. Hazor is on a very prominent hill.

Don't quite understand how they knew that it was an Israelite city in the 9th century BCE. Hope they are using better evidence than the Bible to make this claim. 7:56.

They can tell by potsherds and the Bible is historical. See professor David Rohl on the Exodus and on Hazor. The Pharoah of the Exodus was NOT Ramses the Great (II) but Dudimose. The chronology classically employed is off by several hundred years.

The archaeological remains suggest that after its destruction, the city of Hazor was rebuilt as a minor village within "the territory of Naphtali" (Joshua 19:36). bneibilhah.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-archaeological-remains-suggest-that.html
