Angels and monowhite are my favorite thing about MTG. Just finished building a monowhite angel deck in anticipation of this as soon as I read the lore of All WIll Be One. I cant tell you how excited I am for my favorite character to have a fluffy character that fits nicely with a few of my less than competitive EDH decks. Absolutely 10/10 from a narrative gameplay perspective. Can't wait to have some fun. We need more positivity these days, afterall. Love the lore. Keep it up.

I have TONS of questions !!! So Serra : was she one of the “watchers”? Is Serra alive !?! Apparently Elspeth knew who Serra was ? This has ALOT of implications There are cards from M21 that may now be connected to Elspeth With Luxior equipped to her, you technically could make her an Angel also. Giada was a 2 drop, could she bring the Angels of New Capenna back to life ? Or even restore the angels from Serra’s realm that were in the power stone of the weatherlight ??? This is CRAZY !

Also that he refers to Elesh Norn as his liege; I thought he was just biding his time for an opportunity rather than having any true respect for her. I do like the idea of Elesh Norn flipping her throne though. I'd really like to see all this visually.

The story also kinda exemplifies how terrifying Norn is physically. Yes she's having her crazed Azula moment, but creating a new suit of armor for herself, beasting a blast from the new Elspeth's sword, and not reacting at ALL to a slash to her arm or Elspeth slashing at her fingers as she holds tight to her wing. This kind of blind determination is still extremely dangerous.

I do think it could be the last time we see Elspeth.. or who knows, instead of going to Theros to see his beloved, she instead went the hard way and went to save the Multiverse and it’s very friends, healing them with Norn herself infront. She now doesn’t hesitate, if she feels she has to do something, she does it. Probably this is the pinnacle of her story. At least at my eyes. We’ll need another white planeswalker to surge like Ajani/Elspeth/Gideon did. PD: I want to know what Ajani will say when he sees Elspeth as a “Serra Angel”, which words will he say for that moment.

I feel like her -2 should have been a version of serras embrace, that would have felt a bit more flavourful being that she gained her angel powers from serras embrace (not literally but figuratively) and I mean it's almost there already just needs to add vigilance to the mix. Over all though I'm pretty unimpressed by the new elspeth card despite the fact I've been waiting for elspeth - angel mode for a loooong time. It's just too samey

I think I would have been happier with a glass canon. Elspeth having broken game warping effects like angels tend to have but balance that by having cheaper removal like dead bore, lightning bolt, doomblade at low rarity in the set. R&D wanted to balance the card so you get meh for 4 mana like every other white 4 mana card since wrath of god

I suspect all the Phyrexian Planeswalkers will either get their own redemption arcs, will die villains, or may be the new 'praetors' of New Phyrexia. After all, almost *all* of the Praetors get cut down in this arc.

These walkers being praetors would be more efficient than the regular praetors simply because they can bounce around the multiverse without a tree and just slowly drip oil everywhere. Though even the praetors in all their perfection still had different ideas of what that meant, the walkers who still have some of their former self inside would be more so inclined to have different ideas or goals.

Archangel Elspeth is a good card I think but being who she is in this story, the abilities that Archangel Elspeth have is kinda not fitting for a prophecized savior. They made the card so that it would find an easier way to enter the meta instead making the abilities more fitting to the lore. I would prefer if her card is similar to the Eternal Wanderer. A slower card but could turn the tides when it resolves.

Hearing the Karn part on the MTGA channel... its quite undeservingly harsh on him. For start, how the hell was he supposed to know about the oil inside of him when hem never EVER showed any symptoms? Second, he didnt planed or invisioned Mirrodin at all, he made Argentum a completely different thing all together. Put the Mirari as a watchdog was fine and all but how was he supposed to know about any kind of corruption happening on it after he left and even worse, when it became Mennarch, it decided to make a planar blockage system to not allow anyone get in or out of Mirrodin, how he was supposed to know what was happening inside? By the time it was Mirrodin, Argentum was long gone and he kinda had to roll with it. And what is this that he had to be overseeing things on Mirrodin? Like a governor/king or something?

We should remember that that perspective *is* Karn's thoughts about himself. People generally judge themselves much more harshly for their failings than others do (well, good people at least). He's been traumatized, tortured, and thinks that he's doomed all of reality - a little depression in his outlook of himself is to be expected.

Unknown. The interaction Elspeth has might suggest not but it also might have been in her head/her perspective. When she's being tempted by Phyrexia she imagines that Daxos *could* join them not that he's already been compleated. So it depends what happens to a demigod when their god gets compleated. Do they get compleated in turn or do they get freed from that god's control.

Remember when Urza had to craft plans that involved crazy sacrifices in order to overcome Phyrexia? Nowadays, all you have to do is level up, become more powerful than the villain and done. See Captain Marvel. (Remember when Chandra just burned the two Eldrazi titans to death - lol) Phyrexias biggest strength was its undetected corruption of a society before taking over (sleeper agents), comparable to the Shapeshifters of the Dominion in Star Trek or the Tyranid/Chaos cults in WH40k. Somewhere between Dominaria United and Brother's War, however, Phyrexia became the Borg (Star Trek) that simply assimilates (compleats) everything on contact. Remember when Compleation was this long process of 'natural' selection within the Spheres of Phyrexia where creatures had to prove themselves to become powerful. That's gone, we just assimilate now. Remember when Phyrexian oil corrupted everything it touched? I wonder how Elesh Norn could have achieved easy victory over all the other worlds even without waging a war? The Praetors even traveled to so many planes via planar bridge. Pack a barrel of Phyrexian oil and throw it into the ocean. Let corruption do the rest. Remember when Storytelling was actually good?

The depiction impaling norn was the best art. Angels typically are graceful, elegant, regal... the butch art makes her look like a dude in the card art and the second depiction. Iona, Avacyn, Reya, Gisella, Bruna, Sigarda, Raza... so many strong angels and yet they maintain their elegance. Clad in plain armor surging with power with flat light wings is how you'd depict a no nonsense dude. Doesn't help the card is also meh. The first angel planeswalker makes your white weenies angels slowly and can pump one every couple of turns. Angel as a tribe is full of high cost bombs that warp the rules so I guess they don't want to print anything that would even remotely make high cost angel control bombs easier to play

Sorry, but Archangel Elspeth looks awful. Nothing on real theme and her abilities are meh at best. Much better version would be 2WW: 4 Loyalty / +1 Create a 1 1 white soldier token with vigilance / -2 Exile target permanent, its controller can search their library for a basic land and put it into play tapped, then shuffle their library / -6 You gain an emblem that says "Creatures you control gain +2 +2 and are Indestructible" flavor, power that's not broken and on par with the current level of MtG, gives a removal while giving white a method to ramp itself if need be with a creature token and the PTE effect. The ultimates can't be looked at except for a hopeful situation unless the PW has a method to actually handle things... the current one doesn't really so we need to play assuming that it'll never happen. +1 to create a lifelinker... ok cool. -2 to put 2 +1 counters and it turns into a flying angel.... not flavorful at all and in all honesty is meh. Assuming you have a creature to begin with, -2 is a heavy cost for that. The one we got is REALLY bad. She can create a defender, which is fine but doesn't really do anything else that a PW needs... that ultimate is garbage for her sadly. 2 turns of full set up and a 3rd in order to gain a mass sun titan effect? I'm good without it. The white weenies can't really protect her very well to begin with and that's a long time to let her sit around. If you can let a 4 mana PW sit for 3 turns, it's likely already been game

..."they are the same..." this kind of narrative is why i despise western storytelling. Like, Whut? Huh? errrr.... always tryin to be deep when the plot is just railroading it throws off the essence of the plot. like putting filler suddenly in between fights (lookin at you Naruto Shippuuden). Still the Elspeth entry is a bit...too forced. Shes like out of the blue one-shotting the entire Phyrexian high command, so at that note, the new Elspeth Card just aint feeling too crazy powerful (for the story base)
