My dad and I used to work on his 77 chariot in his garage. Some of the best memories I have with him are in that chariot.

80% of Pompeii hasn't been excavated.. just so you know this is just the beginning.

Excavations started more than two centuries ago. The buildings uncovered so far are already crumbling. There should be no hurry to uncover the rest, until methods of preservation have improved. But tomb robbers are hard at work for the "no questions asked" antiques market.

I believe that only the oxides of the metals that constituted it have been preserved. Bringing it back to light and stabilizing it will be a very laborious undertaking.
