Handler Walter: "You have to leave now."
Dr. Saotome: "Which one of us is actually older, boy? It is you who should be off the planet. We were there when it happened. I was among those who made those horrible experiments possible right alongside Carla. You have no obligations to carry this burden."
Handler Walter: "Yes, I do. And I hate the fact that I even need 621 to do all this. You two shouldn't have to."
Cinder Carla: "You're not getting rid of me that easily, honey. Me and the rest of us at RaD have been down here for years keeping an eye on things. Even if it's all unknown ground from this point, we're the best when it comes to figuring out the signs to watch for."
Dr. Saotome: "Let me tell you what I see from this here crow's nest, kiddo. The PCA are done for. Corps rule now and the Liberation Front is snapping pointlessly at their heels. Arquebus, Balam - doesn't matter who - now want the entire cake for themselves. Even independents like Kira and Shinn will be seen as threats now. The next job they are given may well end up being a trap. You know this."
Handler Walter: "Arquebus are more than happy to let 621 explore underground for them. But they don't want anyone else to interfere."
Dr. Saotome: "Then let me show you something even Carla doesn't seem to know about."
Cinder Carla: "This sonar image? It's the one we stole from the Arquebus survey drone at Hjalmar Mine. But we've already seen this. What use is it now?"
Dr. Saotome: "You think a Watchpoint has only one entrance? Look here...and here...and here..."
Handler Walter: "Now, I see... Maintenance shafts... And collapsed bulkheads. Breaches from past damage covered over by a thin, but opaque layer of ice."
Cinder Carla: "So you're going to send your boy down one of those and reach the auxiliary elevator shaft. But even if it's not the main entrance, it is sure to be just as heavily guarded. Don't bet on there being just one NEPENTHES which the tourist has to deal with."
Dr. Saotome: "If Kira can handle it, Shinn can handle another NEPENTHES or any other defense the watchpoint can throw at us."
Handler Walter: "Guess we have a plan."

Shinn: "I've punched through the ice, doc. It was thinner than we thought. Proceeding through the breach. Anyone following me?"
Dr. Saotome: "Doesn't look like it, but the chances of others detecting the flow of air from the hole you made is pretty high. Don't waste time, and watch your back. Remember, you're not doing a job for anyone. If anyone finds you, it'll be a fight to the finish."
Shinn: "Don't worry, doc. All I want is to follow Kira so that we can rescue him if needed. If anyone gets in my wa-... Oops. Doc, I'm in! I found the elevator shaft... The elevator's not moving. I can't access it. And there are alarms ringing already."
Dr. Saotome: "Your friend has already reached Depth 2. He's destroyed the NEPENTHES laser defense system on his side. Surprise is no longer with us."
Shinn: "Going down. Just as we expected doc, there's a NEPENTHES here too. And it's locked on to me."
Dr. Saotome: "Keep transmitting visuals to me, Shinn. My radar's not working now that you've gone that low."
Shinn: "Oh crap! The shaft just sealed shut! And I've got company!"
Dr. Saotome: "AM02: DENOISER. Designed by the Institute. Deal with them. I'm uploading a new program into the Destiny."
Shinn: "These guys are quite nasty for drones."
Dr. Saotome: "There are several variants. The ones in front of you are specialized for melee. Pulse blades and a couple of light kinetic weaponry."
Shinn: "Area cleared. But now what?"
Dr. Saotome: "Pan your camera to the left a bit... A little higher...there! There should be an access point in that area. Access it and I'll run the hacking program."
Shinn: "Never seen programming like this."
Dr. Saotome: "Just a jack-of-all-trades I am, but I have some special skills that would give even old lady Carla a run for her money."
Shinn: "Maybe Kira would like to see this... Ok, the shutters have opened. Continuing down."
Dr. Saotome: "Plasma missiles incoming. Don't let them distract you from the lasers."
Shinn: "I have visual on the NEPENTHES platform."
Dr. Saotome: "Once you're down it's completely defenseless. All it can do is shoot straight up."
Shinn: "Got it. And now... NEPENTHES platform...trashed. The area is secured."
Dr. Saotome: "I'll be down with the transport helo soon. From this point on we're gonna be living in this crate for a while. Food and water won't be an issue. You've got a healthy storage full of nano-repair kits too."
Shinn: "I'm still amazed by how much space we have in it. A little cramped, but to think it has even living quarters for two people."
Dr. Saotome: "Explore a bit and find a sheltered area that's out of the way. We don't want any unwanted visitors from either the corps or the PCA automated defenses. Don't go too far, though. Depth 2 is a whole new ball game."
Shinn: "You're the doc, doc."

[Mod links at the end of this comment] In this fan-fiction, Dr. Saotome reveals that one can enter Watchpoint Alpha through more than one way. And so Shinn goes down a second elevator shaft and takes on a second NEPENTHES. That's a bit of re-imagining on my part, but it is true the whole place is so big that is could cover a huge area under the ice. So it wouldn't be too surprising if there really was another way to get in. But for the moment that's just speculation, and this is just fan-fiction. "Into the Depths we go." - Shinn. Hmm, after diving through every possible lore I can find in the game, I morbidly thought to myself, GENESIS, Requiem, or any form of superweapons from the SEED universe (and the Gundam-verse in general), those things barely, in Ayre's words, "was hardly a spark.", compared to the solar system-scaled apocalyptic Fires of Ibis. Do you think if the Fires occurred in SEED, not necessarily in the Sol System, but in a distant yet visible place, do you think mankind would be going down the same paths as those in the AC world?

Who knows. Part of me wants to yell "No". But mankind tends to follow certain paths that tend to be dangerous. I don't say that the human race is foolish for doing so...after all the first man discovered that fire while it certainly burns, can be source of warmth, light...and eventually understand its potential as a form of energy... The same is true of the Coral or Uranium or any other. Let's assume, the Fires of Ibis did occur in SEED, in a distant star system. Probably they'd see it many hundreds or thousands of years later - which is partly what my fanfiction is assuming. Why Kira, and Shinn are in this star system but they've never seen or heard of these fires of Coral. It could be about 200 light years away or less or more...Here of course I am assuming, the PCA has faster than light interplanetary travel and so do the corps. I mean i can't explain how such massive ships are able to float in the atmospheres while utterly defying aerodynamics. Although it occurred fifty years past, Earth and the colonies which still use sub-light travel transports wouldn't even know or see the Fires of Ibis for a very long time. Might appear as a slight flash. Much like how we see a dying star on Earth. So if they discovered Coral and it's use as a source of energy, I'm sure the PLANTs and the Earth nations would want a piece of it. Dangers or no dangers. Earth has been suffering from an Energy crisis, and that's one of the reason's they are jealous of the PLANTs and not just the coordinators.

This guy's playstyle left me practically jaw-dropped throughout the entire playthrough, 100% (meaning getting all collectibles, Arena, Analysis, all of them) with no damage, S-ranks on all missions (including NG+ and NG++!). I wanted share this to you, maybe you can get some pointers/experience from his walkthrough. Just saying. 😊

@@vanthanhphan5901 Indeed I've seen this. But his style of play doesn't suit mine. I'm either a heavy Quad, or glass cannon Quad all the way. And since i've already achieved everything in the game, including a decal most players tend to miss after the 100%/Platinum, i'm pretty satisfied. You can have a look at those playlists too.

Also some fridge hilarity I've managed to realize, when I browsed through the Armored Core Reddit community, a fanart depicted V.IV Rusty as Athrun Zala (the joke is that Chris Hackney, the English VA for Rusty is also the VA for Athrun in the HD Remaster of the Gundam SEED continuity). With that knowledge in mind, I couldn't help but thought of this scenario: Kira, when talking to Rusty: ...Is it just me or is Athrun somehow managed to reincarnate into this world, just to specifically keep me from troubles? 🤨

@@vanthanhphan5901 Ah, didn't exactly know since I watch with Ocean dubs for Seed and Seed Destiny. I prefer those dubs over the newer ones. But yes, Rusty does have those same vibes.
