Thanks for sharing that. Clear and uncomplicated. One step I would add, particularly if you are building an arrow with a carbon only shaft. You get the best results when bonding points and nock pins if you clean the inside of the arrow shaft with isopropyl alcohol and a q tip or cotton bud. The dust and debris collected inside the arrow after the cutting process can reduce the quality of the bond. I have proven this by building a set of Easton carbon ones, not cleaning the inside of the shaft and finding points missing when I retrieved the arrows from the boss. Found them in the grass by metal detector behind the boss and repeated the glueing process after cleaning the shafts internally. Much better result

One tip from watching Crispin Duenas demonstrating how to fletch spin wings is to sprinkle some tal powder on the vanes so that they won't stick to each other in the quiver.

Did you experience any different flight characteristics between the lighter ACE and the heavier X 10, and is there any considerations needed for spinage as compared to your ACEs. Love your videos. PS: you might want to invest in over the shaft nocks so the expensive X10s don't bite the dust after one shot

Hey Nue , does having the tape on the end of the vanes have any effect on the flight of the arrow once it comes in contact with the arrow rest arm?

would a soldering iron work as a source of heat? Its a digital one and I can set it to 50-480 celcius. Or my dad has an rework station that he doesn't use anymore and I can ask for him to bring it home would that be a better choice?
@mackemforever8 жыл бұрын
The problem with using something like that is that you're restricting where you can work. It's inevitable that eventually you're going to be in a position where you want to remove or replace a pile or pin while you're out at the range so something that requires a power source isn't a great option. Personally I've built hundreds of arrows over the years and have always just used an ultra cheap cigarette lighter. Does the job perfectly well and because they're tiny you can easily have it in your kitbag.
@MrWizardjr98 жыл бұрын
AJSBristol I don't think I want to bring a candle and matches with me every time I'm at the range and I can't hold a cigar lighter steady and make the arrow
@mackemforever8 жыл бұрын
Well that's why I didn't say to take a bloody candle with you to the range! You also don't really need a particularly steady flame. You're not applying heat to one specific spot, you're simply heating the entire pile or the entire pin, where you apply the heat on it is completely irrelevant.
@NUSensei8 жыл бұрын
+AJBristol: The way you said it implies that anything requiring a power source is a bad choice. He's obviously not going to be using a workbench tool in the field. Yes, lighters work fine. Other tools can work just as well, if not more conveniently. The fact that you can't bring a candle or a soldering iron with you in the field isn't a "problem", and the problem you raised is easily addressed by bringing a lighter with you in the field.

Hey NUsensei, I have been watching a ton of your vids for the past week, and im loving them! I want to get into archery myself, and I want to get a bow to get started. Im a young teen, and I have found the Genesis Original to be a popular choice for many beginners. Do you agree? I would like to start hunting as I get older and stronger, but for now just practice shooting. Thanks!
@NUSensei8 жыл бұрын
The Genesis is a "kiddy" bow that is good for casual families or large clubs. As a personal bow, I would not recommend it. It is effectively a "training wheel" and doesn't grow with you. Buying a proper compound bow will give you something that you can tinker with, learn to shoot with and grow with.

This is correct. It assumes that you are choosing your own points based on your needs, as each type of point and weight is different.

@mackemforever8 жыл бұрын
No one method has an advantage over any others. It all comes down to personal preference and the arrow behaviour that you're getting from your bow, some styles will work well for some people and some won't. Try all three and find out which works best for you.
