Just yesterday ( 15/9/02 )after I watched your vid on the Vertical Line in archery, I put 2 arrows in the same hole then with the 3rd arrow "Robin Hooded the last arrow. I thank you again, please keep sharing your expertise to us enthusiasts as you make it a great joy to be apart of the art of archery.

Thanks Jeff! This video has been tremendously helpful. While I did not hang a string, I visualized the string handing straight down. My groups immediately became tighter with few erratic shots. Most of my shots are now in the gold. Many thanks!

Jeff, your video on vertical shooting has advanced my shooting so much. After several months of shooting at a red ribbon I am getting the feel and my arrows are grouping up and down the vertical line. It's becoming to feel natural. Thanks for all your great teaching videos. Hope you and your family are in good health. Bob Joswick, Broken Arrow, OK.

You nailed it! I saw this video two days ago and thought I would try it the next time I practiced. I was a few arrows into shooting in my back yard and remembered, but didn't have any sting handy, so picked up a small twig and stuck it on the target. My second arrow broke the twig in two! The rest of the practice was almost as good. THANKS SO MUCH for the excellent advice!!!

Jeff, this particular drill and your vid on release have helped me more than any other traditional archery instruction videos on you tube. Once I started doing this my shooting improved leaps and bounds in a very short amount of time. I was stuck at ten to fifteen yards until I started doing this drill. Now Im moving out to 20, 30, 40 and occasionally 50 yards. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Jeff. I've been away from bows for 10 yrs. Compound/recurve/longbow. And now shooting w/ the longbow with both eyes open for the first time. Never thought I could hit anything. Thanks to you I'm shooting better than ever! Your videos are not only instructional, but motivational, too. At 15 ft. keeping all arrows w/in 1/2 to 1/4 inch of the vertical string. The string really helps w/ focus. Just great. Hope you have a terrific new year. Dave.

Our internet here is so bad that it has become too frustrating trying to down load videos. That why I have stopped making them. It is just not worth all the aggravation. This summer my kids and I are planning on making a couple of DVDs which will go much further into detail about shooting, bow tuning, etc., and we are hoping to have them available by next fall.

I too want to thank you Jeff for these informative videos. Just am getting into traditional archery without any instructors available. Seems everyone out here is using compound bows. I really want to focus on traditional. I like what you and the kids do with instinctive archery. Haven't bought a bow yet...not sure where to start, just focusing on shooting arrows and trying to guide myself with form.

Great video. Thought I've seen most of yours, don't know how I missed this one. Definitely going to focus in on this tutorial. I've gotten pretty decent at instinctive archery over the past couple of years. I've never shot a compound, don't own one, don't intend to either. Started of on a longbow and intend to only shoot instinctive archery. But you're right, I'll have an awesome grouping from 15 yards out and then one flyer that goes left or right. This string technique is great. Thanks for the video again Jeff.

When the English military trained their archers I believe they called this exercise "shooting the wand". A very good method to tighten up left and right misses.

Thanks for the video. As someone just starting to shoot traditional I can sometimes start to see vague patterns/rules emerging in my shooting, but often just can't exactly figure it out why I am grouping to the left or why all of a sudden I'm shooting high. Seeing this video really gave me a "ahhh now I get it" moment that helped explain some of the things I was experiencing. Thanks again.

I bought a recurve a week ago online, and did nothing but watch videos on archery all week. Over this week, I took it out everyday. I currently have twelve arrows. I tried to gap shoot for the first three days, and could only land 6 or 7 arrows to a stack or 4 hay bales. I kept shooting high. Then I started shooting instinctive, and landed 12 out of 12 the first round.

Looking forward to putting this into my practice, Thank You! Busted up my whole draw side (neck, arm, and shoulder!) last week clearing brush in the yard to give myself a longer distance (25 yard) target that I probably don't even need yet... Finally healed up enough that I'm going to use the original 10 yard target today.

Hi Jeff: After 6 months of shooting my 40 lb Bear Grizzly and researching "how to shoot instinctively" i find that this video and also your two videos about the release have helped my quite a bit to "forge and temper" my form to minimize unnecessary movements--to simplify and purify, if you will. So, i was wondering if you have any videos to maybe comment on how your shooting has gotten to the magical level. You are really inspiring. Thank you very much for taking the time to teach. I've been shooting bows off and on for 15+ years and I'll say this...I aim the same way when I play billiards which I play better then my archery skills but it's all the same. I look at my cue ball just like my arrow tip and then look at my object ball just like the target and shoot instinctively. It's not about aim...it's about being warm and knowing or being in the zone then aiming. Good shooting
