Axcel Achieve XP Sight

I ordered this sight from my local archery shop and it took them 3 months to get it in. I'm upgrading from a Trophy Ridge so this is a HUGE upgrade.

Those locks on the elevation and windage may be for people tampering with your sight. It's sad but I've heard of people tampering with other people's sights when unattended, usually at fixed distance competitions. I think it's a good feature to have. Makes it a little more difficult for someone to just give your sight a few cranks when you're not looking.

Axcel will have their newer version out before Sure-loc releases their Carbonic sight. Thank god I decided on the Acheive for my Shootdown. How did your tourney go?

Bought the Axcel Achieve XP and love it, it's a clear upgrade over the Achieve CXL, but if you already have an Achieve CXL, it wouldn't be worth the cost of the upgrade, not for what you get. One of the best things about the XP, besides the metal sight tapes, is the Wedgelock that mounts onto your bow, but you can buy that separately anyway. The Vertical adjust and Windage adjust locks are nice features, but I can't really see any NEED for them, but they might be nice if you're at a tournament and your rivals are... sketchy. When I bought the XP, I tried to fit my Shrewd Minimag into the barrel that came with the XP and the Shrewd thread was about a CM too short, so I had to purchase a threaded barrel from Axcel to make it fit, bit of a pain considering the price of the sight is already so high, it would be nice if they included more than one barrel, but I don't regret buying this sight, the thing is bulletproof. The BIGGEST issue I have found, and it's something that is irritating but not a deal breaker, is that the sight bar does not have any numbers on it, there is no reference for the indentations, you'll either need to make a reference mark or count the notches are you are putting the sight back on.

I shoot this sight too, and I know exactly where it goes even without feeling it. When you look at it you'll really know if it's right or not. My main issue is that with the bar on the center of the first axis no sight tapes match my bow. I'm gonna move it up anyways, but I'll have to redo my first axis.

Steven, is there a reason the metal tapes couldn’t be fitted to the older sight? It appears the older sight has enough metal that it could be drilled and tapped for screws or simply use a silicone adhesive to hold distance tape onto metal. What are your thoughts?

I get the impression Steve is comparing the compound sights too. The recurve XP sight doesn't have the same metal tape feature.

No, as good as and with a couple extra unnecessary features but not much better. One of the worlds best Korean recurve archers used a Shibuya Dual Click for his whole career.

Some will use this sight for hunting. Locking features brings an extra level of confidence.

For a beginner to make the best set-up for lowest price buy most of the gear used. A decent used riser is usually half the new cost, same with stabs, sights, quivers or other accessories. Some of the gear I would buy new so you know they aren't damaged and are right for you, mainly arrows and limbs. Most of the used stufff you will be able to sell on for very little loss as and when you decide to upgrade them.
