Choose the best Target recurve sight on the market

I like my Shibuya sight but then I'm not shooting within five points of any championships. Still, it's nice to have good equipment and know that poor shooting is my fault and not the equipment's.

Having a proper sight ist just a matter of quality of life. Doesn't matter if you shoot an 800 or a 1200 FITA, not having to worry about screws coming lose and dials wearing out is worth the money no matter where you're at in your archery career.

I am still using my Sure-Loc sight I bought like 25+ years ago and it's still working perfectly. It actually has some of the features you pointed out in this review too like a detachable site block and it still works perfectly. They used to be THE archery sight. Not sure what happened to them as far as market share, but I love mine.

Amazing that you don’t include the Shibuya sight…. especially for recurve archery being that it is arguably the most popular olympic recurve sight on the market…. Axcel sights are awesome…. but like everything they aren’t perfect…. Sights don’t last anywhere close to 20years without replacing some wearable parts. Shibuya has the best global parts availability…. you can get every screw bolt and widget. Axcel… well good luck getting parts outside the USA. As for reading numbers off the scale… you know the adjustment dial also has numbers on it… each rotation being exactly one mark on the vertical scale.

I was thinking the exact same thing. my 10 (!!) year old shibuya sigth would solve a lot of the "problems" you have with the sight in your video. including double needles of both sites, nice locking, numbers at the bar etc.

Thanks for this. I'm in the same dilemma for my recurve setup. I've currently got the W&W WS600 and I know what you mean about the sight marking reading. But I also want a quick disconnect for the sight pin so I can easily swap in a clout mirror, scope or pin. The other issue I have with the WS600 is the screw down locking mechanism which has to be loosened every time you want to make a change. I wouldn't buy the WS700, it's not worth the extra cash IMO. If I had to choose again between the Fivics FV-300 and the WS600 I'd probably go the Fivics as those numbers are bigger and clear but it looks very similar. The W&W are well made sight and never come loose so they are still a good sight. Personally I wouldn't go cheaper than this, as every one I've seen cheaper tends to rattle loose grub screws etc. As I want a quick disconnect that rules out the Shibuya even though it's a fantastic sight otherwise and easy to get spare parts for. So my choices are Axcel or Sure-Loc. Sure-Loc don't have a good reputation under the new owners Ferra-Dyne so I'm not sure about the new Adrenaline model. I've got a Sure-Loc Challenger on my compound and it's alright, does the job but nothing to write home about but it is a old sight I got second hand and not a top of the line one either. So it boils down to the Achieve XP is the only real choice but the cost of $690 on your site is a big chunk of change to drop especially when I'm wanting some new heavier limbs. I could buy two more WS600's for clout and extra scope/pin option and it would still be cheaper than the XP! Archery really keeps me broke between my two bows and my daughters two bows.

You work hard and shoot loads. Just treat yourself to the Axcel. If you buy the cheaper one you’ll only regret it.

The Sanlida X10 seems good enough. I have the Shibuya myself though but likely the Sanlida honestly looks fine.

Axcel xp everytime for me ,but it's exxy and doesn't come with a sight pin !!!,so if you want Axcels recurve scope pin ,probs another $150 AUD on top of the $600AUD 😁🏹

I was a bit surprised that both the Fivics and the Win & Win did not have a movable pin for the makings and sight tape. I was looking for holes in the close ups just in case they came as loose components and had not been fitted but I could not make out anywhere for them to fit. It would be interesting if you could get a bunch of sights together and over a couple of days get a set of marks for each. Then simulate part of a field round with a couple of bosses so you can get the different faces on them. Set an imaginary course using longest and shortest distance for each target, which you then shoot with all of the sights to test how well you could live with them not just based on score. Do it so you you have things like moving from longest to shortest (or the other way) this will test how easy it is to make big adjustments, also have some where you only move 5m to test the micro adjustment or how easy it is to set with the large adjustment like is it sticky and needs force or you fly straight past the mark. This should give a reasonable idea of how easy each sight is to live with and what limitations each has and what you might think somebody might like or not about each one. There may be that one thing that really writes off a sight for field but will be fine for target where you only adjust it maybe three times in a day.

Look at the Avalon tech X maxx, I've got one as a spare, £70 well worth the money. I use an Angel sight normally.

I own an Avalon Tec carbon recurve sight, an Avalon Tec one, and a Decut Honor. For an affordable micro-click RC sight, Decut has a nice clear aperture with a floating dot, which interests me the most.

Shibuya CPX 2 is better then the achieve and they have 2 models better then that. Try out the new Shibuyas. I’ve had the achieve XP for some years now and the Shibuya sights blow them out of the water in fit and finish and engineering and repeatability

Shibuya is the BEST sight. Recurve and Compound. You are wasting your time and money if you choose anything else.
