Thanks for another great review Steven. Based on this I bought a dozen Skylon Paragons to replace my Carbon Ones. I had been looking at Easton Protours but the price was really putting me off and after shooting the Paragons there is no way I could justify the price of the Eastons. These things are absolutely great, they group tighter than anything I have shot before and don't cost much more than my Carbon Ones. The only complaint I have is that the nock pins supplied are a bit rubbish, I replaced mine with X10 pins which fit perfectly.

Skylon themselves offer Deluxe pins, which have nice knurlings to grip the glue better. Gonna put them in my Preminens soon and try the arrows out.

My favorite Victory arrow combination is VAP TKO with 150 grain VXT SS points, 440 grain total weight.

Hey Steven. I just came across this video looking fir info on arrows. N since you basically played major part of me learning archery with your videos So I figured I ask u. I am re-fletching my victory VAPsport arrows. How should I have the spine alignment set up. Should my cock vane line up with the spine alignment?? Should it be facing up down or out?? I originally got my arrows and they were fjetched with the spine alignment out away from riser. Any advice??

Just wondering on the New trend of running stiff spines Your using 350 spine when the arrow charts generaly suggest 400

150 grain points soften the spine.

Slightly stiff isn’t a problem as long as you aren’t under fletched. I will say that with very skinny arrows, heavier break off points tend not to soften the spine, because the shank extends further into the shaft. The extra weight is offset by the reduced length of carbon that can flex. I carefully bareshafted slightly fatter arrows - 3DHV - for a barebow set up. I found the 150gn points were the weakest, followed by 100gn, them 120gn was stiffest. I did hundreds of arrows at various bow adjustments and this rule was solid. The difference was subtle, especially between 100gn and 150gn. I would say that with thinner arrows like the VAP, a heavier point with a big increase in shank length could result in a stiffer arrow than a shorter lighter point. I run my VAPs 1/2” longer out of my compound than standard diameter arrows, due to the much longer shanks on the points vs. Inserts. They shoot beautifully. I notice Stevens 350 arrows are quite long, which makes sense.

When talking about the differences between all the arrows, point weights, vanes etc, does this only apply to compound bows or recurve aswell?

Hey Steve any recommendations on a good hunting small diameter arrow for the price. Im running carbon express maxima reds 250. My bow is a mathews halon 5, 60-70lbs draw and 27.5 draw length.

I have been unable to get my vxt to shoot well no matter what I do past 20 yards the vxt shoot all over, my vaps, NVX23 and NVX25HV are much more consistent, vxt vs vaps in a 150 50m round i shoot 145-148 with the vaps and vxt 120-130 if I'm lucky

You might have to have a really good look at bow set up. If your using the same bow. Check Nock pinch. I use a spot Hogg swap so I can shoot fat and skinny arrows out of the same bow.

Interesting - I would say every VXT I have sold people all said they shoot better than the VAP. I guess it took 5 people telling me the VXT where better before I would buy them. Are you shooting the VXT with 150 grain?

The setups I've shot the vxt out of Supra focus 61lbs 30.5 draw Hamskea hybrid target pro Arrows cut to 28.5 ctc with 150grain points Goldtip mini HD pin nocks 3 fletch flex fletch 1.87 Perform X 63lbs 30.5 Put them on a draw board and checked for nock pinch, moved cams, played with cable guard, played with rest position, rest timing, blade type and angle, turned nocks everything

@@BrandonBAMF197 how do you shoot your Hamskea? ....limb driven or fixed? ....naturally you will get different results with arrows that have different diameters if you don't paper tune the bow for this particular arrow / arrow diameter. E.g. if you paper tune the bow for the VAP and then shoot the VXT without further adjustment (here is where the microtune Hamskea version comes in handy) you will likely just get the opposite results.

All i know is i picked up several points when i switched to Victory arrows. And when i went to VAP's it went up even more... So long Gold Tip it's Victory arrows for life!

Interesting I wonder if it is because the keep more energy. But at 50m they almost hit the same spot. I was surprised all 3 arrows almost hit the same spot too.

I doubt they are faster - they hitting higher as they have the biggest diameter, hence when shooting through the same - not adjusted - arrow rest they point higher than the skinnier Skylons...(think about doing paper tuning with arrows with different diameters - yo can't get a bullet hole for all without particular adjustment of the arrow rest).
