@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's pretty interesting. I think if you come from Grasshopper it probably is easier to pick up. Right now takes much longer to figure out how to set up the nodes than just modeling the shapes and saving as an object, but the parametric options take it a step above for sure!

@Contrabim: To solve the problem with the expression, (minute 19:04) - put the node "Ceil" between the expression and the number distribution. The problem is probably that the result of the expression does not output integers. With "Ceil" you get an integer.

This could be a breakthrough feature. Its the Archicad version of Family editor in Revit. Imagine there will be lots of custom made parametric objects for furniture and every other BIM products. There only a few GDL specialists who were able to do it using the programming interface but now its a truly new beginning. I wonder if its possible to add those 3D Hotpoints where you can visually stretch an object on the screen. Probably they willl add these features and more on future versions..
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Great question! I'm sure they'll be building on it, but what's also interesting is how you can continue to open these in the GDL Object Editor and work on it there. Although I've noticed if you re-save from PARAM-O is seems to overwrite any changes. Still learning here more to come!
@izoyt4 жыл бұрын
yes, building paramo object visually in 3d, would be great..
@Z-add4 жыл бұрын
regarding the deck. You would have a Total Deck Size (TDS) and Deck Size (DS). The deck gap (DG) will be the output. So for TDS of 3ft and DS of 2.5in you will get (3*12)/2.5 = 14.4 decks. take the int of it that is 14 decks. 14 decks will take (14*2.5in) = 35in total space. So you are left with (36in - 35in) = 1in to distribute between gaps. Your DG will be now 1in/(14-1) = 0.0769in.

Object editor in Grasshopper mode. It would be great if we can edit all the object in PARAM-O. Editing object in GDL is not user friendly. It seams this add-on can visualize GDL . It's really efficient for product manufacturers to build up their product library.

Yes I think with a little work and more testing it can become pretty useful! Thanks for the comment!
@HilarioB4 жыл бұрын
I think you can't have the total width and the single deck's width and the gap as variables at the same time. I'd use one of those three methods instead: 1. set the total width of the table and the number of decks so you can automatically work out the deck's width based on their number. (total width - (n-1) x deck's width= total gaps); (total gaps / n= single gap) where n is the number of divisions. 2. set the number and width of the decks and the table width would be calculated automatically. 3. set the width of the table as variable, the number and width of the decks and the gaps are calculated (total width - (deck's width x deck's number) = total gaps); (total gaps / (number of decks -1) = single gap). I gonna try asap.
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Hilario! That makes a lot of sense, that it'd be impossible for the even distribution to the edges when both gaps and deck widths are variables, as well as the table width. One has to drive another. I was following the GRAPHISOFT example image and couldn't quite figure that one out, but I'll give it another try, thanks for the comment!

I noticed that when you add the length in all these parameters instead of the global ones, on the 3D modeling the x and y don't change, but the hight it's changed like a marking on the volume, but not the volume itself. Weird. Maybe for the top distribution, replace the formula to a Divide? Idk, I'll try...

Is there a way for someone without any background to learn it? Even though copying the nodes from the image and following the video still cant manage to achieve it... Any helpful recourses? I cant understand why we use subtraction. What would it mean in the process?
@llussik3 жыл бұрын
The subtraction is needed, for example, to determine the positions of the table legs. If you simply copy the table leg by the table length, it would end up outside the table by the table leg width. So you need to subtract the table leg thickness to get the correct distance to move it. Make a sketch and try to determine the position of the other legs using variables like table length or table width and table leg thickness. You will find that you need the subtraction. I hope to have helped a little.

How editable are models, made by paramo then? can the be trimmed by walls, roofs , saved as doors, windows etc? So, wall, roof etc can be made from mesh object, that would be something.. Oh and yes, full nurbs support would be nice also, so we don't have to play with all that plug-ins so much...

there should a formula node so that all basic operations like addition, subtraction etc can be done in one node. Otherwise this is going to become an unmanageable mess as your model grows.
