John, greeting from Latvia! Great content. Please add donate button :) Very useful for interior design listings. Also amazing amount of organized properties inside AC and Excel.

Great video! I have one question according to ifc export - its possibile to set up exporter on a way to have all of the info about areas of specific layers?
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dawid. There is a setting in the IFC translators for exporting the composite skins as separate elements. You'll have to dig into the exporter settings to find it, but I'm positive it's there! The information related to those skins will likely be limited to the material properties that have been assigned, and perhaps some info from the composite itself. Thanks for the question!

I just recently came across your tutorials and have put some of what I have learned to use. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! One question I have is how did you make your 3D wall look so realistic? Was this accomplished with Image Fills?
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roger for the kind comment! Nope... this wall was built using out of the box GRAPHISOFT materials from version 23. USA in this case... What version are you on? If you're on 23 or 24 now, and not taking advantage of the newest Archicad Material Library, I'd highly recommend switching them out. Much higher resolution images, and far improved render settings for Cinerender

This tutorial is very helpful. Two things - I'd love a tutorial on how to properly set material priorities at the beginning of the job to automatically cut back the composites in just the right way as you showed ( do you have separate sheathing priorities depending on whether it is for floor or wall, for instance?). Second: Is the quantity composite wall assembly information that's ports into a component/element schedule affected by taking it into the profile manager to lower the brick veneer layer onto a foundation ledge as an example? (Side note - why did the schedule area column value not change when the skins all had different thicknesses?). Keep up the good work!

Thanx for great tutorial, awesome as always! I have one question for you. Your 3D window style says BimX, what is it exactly ? Thanx!
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! This sample file was from the Graphisoft NA template, and one of their view styles is setup for BIMx export I believe. It's just a 3D view, OpenGL, split Sky White over grey, with contours turned on...

Good tutorial! Two questions: how can I count just the materials that are not structure? And, I want to create a label that shows just one material on a compose element, don't want to use surface because I can insert more properties. Thank you for the response.
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniella! You can filter your schedules by component type, so anything non-core should do it. I'm not sure about labeling just one material, other than in a detail view where the materials are converted to material fills. This works fine, but may not be the type of view your looking for.

John, I see that you 3D looks rendered, are you using the US version? Because I know that materials show better in 3D in the international version. Love your videos. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Thanks for the comment! Sorry for late reply! I am using the US version, and no this is not rendered. The materials in both USA and INT got revamped in version 23, so I think both are much better now and probably similar in a lot of the textures. I work a lot in both US and INT and both have good textures now:) Happy New Year to you!

Hi John, I noted you have quite handy toolbar to control hatch orientation etc. I can't find it. Can you help? Greetings from Poland!
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the comment. I think you may be referring to the toolbar at the bottom right. Those are the Creating Imaging>Align Texture options, found under Document. I've added these icons to my visualization toolbar, since I use them often and they fit well in that area. If I'm wrong, and you're talking about cover fill orientation, that will always be under the info box! Thanks!
