Supreme Court ruling 2022, direct quote: "The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not “a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.” The exercise of other constitutional rights does not require individuals to demonstrate to government officers some special need. "The Second Amendment right to carry arms in public for self-defense is no different. New York’s proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in public." Ryan Taylor, Just because the bought & paid for extreme court helps you feel like a he-man, does not mean that you are right. Have ALL Supreme Court decisions been good for all of us? You might not think Dread Scott was a good idea, unless you are White. You might not think so if you were a tax-paying Japanese-American Citizen who lost your means of support & home, only to have yourself and your family consigned to a horse stable or prison camp. "A WELL-REGULATED MILITIA BEING NECCESARY TO THE SECURITY OF A FREE STATE, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." A strict "originalist" interpretation of the (by definition potentially revised) Second Amendment, means that as long as you are a White, male head of household, you are entitled to a muzzle loader over every fireplace in your home, so help you God. Why are you so insecure (or obnoxious) that you always feel someone is going to kill you unless you are constantly armed?

Here is the entire quote by Mason. “I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers. But I cannot say who will be the militia of the future day. If that paper on the table gets no alteration, the militia of the future day may not consist of all classes, high and low, and rich and poor; but they may be confined to the lower and middle classes of the people, granting exclusion to the higher classes of the people.” “Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia. […] This was a most iniquitous project. Why should we not provide against the danger of having our militia, our real and natural armed strength, destroyed? The general government ought, at the same time, to have some such power. But we need not give them power to abolish our militia. If they neglect to arm them, and prescribe proper discipline, they will be of no use. I am not acquainted with the military profession. I beg to be excused for any errors I may commit with respect to it. But I stand on the general principles of freedom, whereon I dare to meet any one. I wish that, in case the general government should neglect to arm and discipline the militia, there should be an express declaration that the state governments might arm and discipline them. With this single exception, I would agree to this part, as I am conscious the government ought to have the power.” Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 14, 1788

Source, "James Madison: A Life Reconsidered" by Lynne Cheney. Original text by Madison that makes his intent clear: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."
