Best sitcom ever!! The back and forth between O'Connor and Reiner was absolute gold during the many seasons. This was my favorite episode of the whole series, and I'm so grateful for being born in the late 70's and was raised on All in the Family reruns in the 80's as a kid. Just a great show that could really be used in such sensitive times we live in now, just to show this generation that it is okay to laugh at ourselves and our differences as well. Holy hell, this world has totally forgotten how to laugh

I remember seeing an interview with Carroll O'Connor for the show's 20th anniversary. He said that a lot of the dialogue was the result of improvising between himself and Rob Reiner. He would start with an extra line and that would generate a laugh, and Reiner would build on that and it would just keep going until the rehearsal was stopped because everyone in the cast & crew was laughing. So of course those lines were written into the script.

I remember my Dad meeting my boyfriend, whom l later married back in 1981. My Dad was very much like Archie, my Mom nothing like Edith... My Late Husband was not a “Hippie” but a Biker with long hair and covered in tattoos. The meeting didn’t go well to say the least. My Mom kept pinching my Dad every time he said something obnoxious. Unfortunately, my Dad never got to met my Sweetie again, Dad died the following week. We named our first child after my Dad.

I so pity the younger generations who can't get this now...and that's not a slam, I don't think it's fair to expect them to...to really appreciate it, you'd have to have been around back then and understood the climate then.
