The second release in my Archive Edit series is here, and this one takes things in a very different direction from ArchiVe001. This time, I’ve reworked Ruff Driverz - Dreaming, but the process was completely different; rather than rewriting the melodies from the original, the edit is more of a mash-up. It started with me prepping for a gig while on a train -I was searching for something in the same key to layer live in the mix, but as I had a couple of hours to kill, I decided to make something, rather than just picking a track to blend live. I layered the beats from one of my own projects with elements of Dreaming, trimming and arranging until the two felt glued together. This track holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It takes me back to a time when I was first getting into electronic music. My entry point was trance, and that unmistakable guitar hook and Spanish vocal instantly transported me to a sun-soaked beach in Ibiza. Back then, I’d never actually been-but I’d religiously read Mixmag and DJ Mag, watched Ibiza Uncovered on TV, and devoured all those Essential Ibiza mix compilations. I had this vivid, almost cinematic image in my mind of what the island would be like, and I was dreaming (🥁) of the day I’d finally be old enough to go experience it properly. Here’s your second gift from the Archive series. Hope you love it as much as the first! Download link in the description.
