I worked on Fathers Day. Robin truly was a genius and a nut. His ability to make you laugh at any given moment was legendary. I was a craft service stagehand. He'd come up and say, "Triple espresso." I thought, oh boy, here we go - ten seconds to blast off. He wasnt 'acting' he really was a powerhouse of (comedic) energy. In fact, I worked on 5 of Robin's films, and what I miss about him the most was how genuine he was. Most days, he'd have the crew in stitches in between takes then go on set and purposefully do lines off the top of his head that were funnier than anything the script called for. Once he found your funny button, he'd just keep pushing it until it hurt to laugh. He had a real gift for that. He was a wonderful man, who, when everyone else would be at lunch, he more often than not would spend his hour off with Make A Wish kids giving them every ounce of his being. I loved him and think of him often. He may be gone, but I dont think he'll EVER be forgotten.

Dedicated to Robin Williams The humble stand-up made the world laugh. I improvised every second. He easily brought to tears Your viewer and your listener Robin Williams pedaled. And maneuvered through his life. Yes ... His path was not sinless There is versatility, you can't turn away from it Good-naturedly and energetically he lived on Earth I flew to the soldiers in the war. Responded to requests from his fans People like him are not born twice From "Happy Days" to "This is a fucking Christmas miracle" Many different roles have been played. Actor Robin Williams of various plans From comedies to snot Loved children and rare books Bicycles and computer games. Was also a geek of cinema Collected what touched him No conviction from suicide He could no longer make peace with himself. Losing memory and self-control Robin settled the score and left bitterly ... Robin's creativity does not fade away. He lives in the hearts of fans. Probably laughing with the Almighty in the sky Robin Williams will never stop ...

I was in middle school when this episode happened & rarely was allowed to stay up late, but for some reason I got to stay up for this episode & have never forgotten it. I’m sure the blackout was a pain for the producers & folks behind the scenes…but what a gift for Jay to be able to get off-script and just let Robin & Billy just go! The decades-long friendship is so clear, the comfort level & trust that allowed them to just play off each other for half the show. So many hilarious improved moments! And the end where they shout “PEOPLE OF EARTH” and “it’s the Mother Ship” and Robin does sign language while the band plays the first notes of “Star Trek”…it cracks me up every time! One of my favorite Tonight Show memories.
