People complaining that Sam simplified some of the higher / more complicated singing really have no idea how difficult this is. Notwithstanding the fact that he's doing harsh vocals, which are more technically demanding in general, but the fact that he's doing it for over an hour every night. Being a vocalist is like being an athlete, even at peak performance, you need to know when to conserve energy and strength, and there *is* a limit. Even bodybuilders can't weight lift for hours on end. Let's not forget: Even Freddie Mercury simplified his songs live. Knowing when to go for the notes or bring them down is a testament to great vocal ability, not a sign of weakness.
@thelittleowl12 жыл бұрын
he makes it sound better imo. i prefer his lower voice. this is coming from someone who saw them twice. alt ldn and at a release show. both times he killed it. cleans and screams.
@thelittleowl12 жыл бұрын
@Malte Werner maybe he overdid his voice the show before.
@ClosetoHumanMusic2 жыл бұрын
@Malte Werner Or maybe he's just tired. Ever had a day where you're just more tired than others and you need to go easy on yourself? Again, knowing your limits is a strength, not a weakness.

The problem is not being able to hit the high notes, voice deteriorates over time, however, he is messing up on the low notes too, you can hear he's out of tune often.

Amazing night, the pit was insane as expected. I love that they still played old bangers like Gravedigger.

Sam's singing in this at the start feels different than how he's been doing in for those that wish to exist. Kinda reminds me of the older vocals like hollow crown. That scream at the start of hereafter was incredible. Also I really hope they perform libertine one of these days

Ive been following them for a while now and I can tell that Sam's vocals are phenomenal so far. I dont know why people keep complaining that he cant do highs and stuff like that. Besides the "on point vocals" , live shows are all about energy and Sam's stage presence is freakin insane! Greetings from Greece hope we'll see you in the near future!
@andreb20192 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think many people hear it sang one way in the record and expect it to always be that way live. Sometimes for the sake of the performance you can’t always push yourself to hit those same notes safely like you can in the studio. He puts on a great show regardless.
@nathandrums02 жыл бұрын
@@andreb2019 my issue is how much he’s letting the crowd sing. He misses almost half of every song now. I love Sam and the band but it’d sad seeing how he’s missing half the songs.

@@nathandrums0 Yeah I know what you mean. That’s a new fad that’s been getting more and more popular. Let the crowd sing the hard parts lol.

@@andreb2019 I know why they do it, I mean it saves on your vocal chords but still..bring the song down a key or don’t make a song you know you can’t replicate live. Sam is incredibly talented and it’s why I haven’t spent the money to go see them. The songs are almost entirely different live because of his approach to them
@andreb20192 жыл бұрын
@@nathandrums0 I completely agree about not making a song you can’t replicate live if you have the intention of playing it live. Stopped listening to Chavelle after I saw them live and the singer couldn’t get close to The Red. Was embarrassing.

I get that Sam is struggling in some of these songs and isn't really going for some of the higher notes...But can we just take a moment to appreciate that instead of using auto-tune or going the Bring Me The Horizon route, he's sticking to it and still making it an awesome live performance?
@eliTheGuy052 жыл бұрын
His live vocals were very good. The studio recording are a combination of many performances with the best parts cut together and combined with mixed and layering
@andreb20192 жыл бұрын
@@eliTheGuy05 without a doubt. What people are pointing out is that he is singing much easier parts instead of hitting the higher (harder to sing) notes.

The man has been screaming and belting for decades now. The fact he can do it at all is a testament to his talent and work ethic. I was there and it sounded amazing. Live vocals always sound a bit wierd recorded on a phone and never sound like the record because they're mixed to blend with the acoustics of the room. Let me tell you, in the pit I had no complaints.
@andreb20192 жыл бұрын
@@rustycr0w I’m not talking about the tone or the mix quality. I’m talking about him singing completely different (lower) notes than on the album because higher notes are harder to hit live. Listen to Royal Beggars on this video and he’s singing the chorus differently than on the album. That’s what people are talking about.
