This song gave me the last push to change jobs. I was working for the same company for 8 years and never really felt like I was happy, like I was accomplished or that I'm being compensated properly for my valuable time. I was stuck deep in the comfort zone while I should have been moving mountains. Now I'm at a new job and I love it, it's an all around improvement. This song gave me the last push that I needed to go find a new job and finally quit the old one.

This song makes alot more sense with the video. The world is literally about to end, but amidst the panic, this guy is just weaving through the crowd trying to get his drugs, completely blind to the apocalypse. He's blind to the apocalypse, but also Architects are not pointing at him making him the villain. Quite the opposite... he is lonely, left behind. He is representing how most people are just barely getting by dealing with their own issues (mental health, the apathy and pointlessness of the modern world, etc.), which makes it almost impossible to be able to deal with the immense responsibility of saving the planet on top of this. Dan has talked about this and that he also counts himself as someone who could do more for the environment but the pressure of just dealing with his own problems is too overwhelming.
@jakesetnikvox21064 жыл бұрын
@@Bajannez ya I agree, the drugs he's taking are more like his coping mechanism.
@Bajannez4 жыл бұрын
@@jakesetnikvox2106 Yeah! And my guess is that the colorful middle section of the video is relating to the "I'm nothing but the surface"-lyric. That there is a deeper substrate beneath the base layer of our existence. I know Dan has said that we're just souls trapped in flesh suits. So maybe that's some sort of consolation in these somewhat apocalyptic times. That realization helps the lead character separate himself from the despair of everything and he can actually face the apocalypse.

rip \\ I'm very glad I didn't pre-order ! If earlier creativity was a protest, a cry of the soul, a heartbreak, now it is a snotty, pop story . Cheap arrangements, self-repetition, simplified moves . Good luck on the radio !

The part where the MC steps through the portal and is blasting through dimensions (my guess) is pretty reminiscent of the Doomsday video, when Tom gets pulled into the cosmos. I see Tom in everything Architects does, but also growth and maturity in it all. Each thing I hear from them is just another sprout on the tree that grew from Tom's back.

Architects was/is one of my favorite bands of all time but I have to be honest this and all the other new tracks are a devolution IMO. I'm all for evolving and changing things up to be fresh but that's not what they've done here at all. They've simplified the riffs, they've simplified the drums, they've simplified and softened the vocals, they've lightened the overall mood and tone to be much less aggressive. It's all clearly intentional, not a natural progression. In before "tHe hEre aNd NoW waSn't hEAvY" these new tracks are a completely different style and feeling than the here and now, don't kid yourself. They will grow a new fanbase but at the same time alienate many of the original fans that got them to where they are today.

this is Architects post Tom, aka what the band would have amounted to back then without him. It's a shame but that's just how things happen.

tom always wanted architects to take a different view, he felt forced to shit on the here and now because of the “””fans”” and community. Even sam recently said Heartburn was his favourite architects song. you can still enjoy all the music they’ve put out for you that you enjoy, no one can take that away. if you don’t want to support them anymore, that’s fine. they’ll do just fine without toxic communities dragging them down. these comments affect people when all they want to do is express them self in a different way.
@sarcasm43714 жыл бұрын
@@functioningpuffin9015 the here and now is much more original than this though, you're just making the assumption we hate the here and now when a lot of people actually liked it

@@sarcasm4371 The Here and Now was -fire-. I love this band and their story and all of their records. I started listening shortly after Sam joined. But this song to me is the first major reduction in the quality and wit of the writing - especially that main lead that goes across the chorus. That lead sticks out like a sore thumb and reminds me of older very basic metalcore bands. A part like that is the absolute lowest hanging fruit that I've never seen Architects grab before.

Oh, story-clip. I like this work! But I'm also sad because of the meaning it has at the beginning. Now I really want to do something. The video sequence gives an impetus that perhaps not everyone grasped when listening to the song for the first time. And this break is mesmerizing

The opression of the modern day.... I think the way is to be happy with small things, not be afraid of being unimportant, and dont give in to the pressure to be "succesful". Success comes in many ways, and good relations with people is one of the most important

@@musiqrocks92 From what I understand, he means modern day wage slavery. I wish we could all see what could be, because everything is temporary. These things take time and many lives, before we see the truth of our conscious life. We simply don't exist as we believe we do.
