Since Tom passed away, I've been listening the whole Architects discography on repeat. Unbeliever is one song I've been wanting to do a video for a long time now, finally got around to complete it. This song is such a masterpiece, so powerful and meaningful.
Thanks for this, Tom Searle and Architects.

This is the song people should be talking about today. "Step out of the shadow, cast by left and right wings. Take refuge in each other and the triumph that it brings. Since we stood on two feet, we've been worth so much more. Now tear down the walls, that were built to divide, It's time to extinguish that fire, That fire inside." The only thing anyone wants to do is vilify people who disagree with their political views. Whoever you support, you can learn something by listening to those who disagree with you. You've nothing to gain from attacking people.

what does the "fire" stand for in your opinion? since it is mentioned multiple times in the song in ambiguous ways, i think people will get different images of the symbol. Whats yours? :)
@welshmouse
@welshmouse 7 жыл бұрын
I see it as our inherent and base inclination toward violence. "since we stood on two feet" is an evolution reference. I think it's saying that we used to be stupid aggressive creatures, and we still have that fire inside us that can be quick to anger. We need to move past that and understand that just because someone opposes us or our group that we do not need to see them as an enemy.

i had similar thoughts. to me the fire symbolized hate/aggression being acted out. but how does that align with "you helped build this fire inside of me" and the lines building up to that one?

ᅚᅚ ᅚᅚᅚᅚ it's too late but I'll try to write my thoughts. I think, "you helped build this fire inside of me" means that hate generates and breeds another hate in return.

3:13 is absolutely genius (R.I.P. Tom Searle, you magnificent man). The way Sam Carter slightly changes how 'a world' to sound a bit aggressive, subtly warning the listener for the heavy unclean vocals part, is amazing. Woah, this song deserve a lot more recognition.

A month ago I found out the first truly great love of my life passed away due to finding the cancer much too late. A beautiful, magnificent human being with the ability to see right through me. Everybody liked her, no one ever had anything bad to say. She was very socially sharp, incredibly funny, reliable above and beyond and most of all a leader with way too much heart. She was the one I hope I'd always come back to, eventually... She came back to me once after we'd stopped it all. She decided to come from Stockholm. She'd only pack her things and go back home, but she planned coming back to me all the time. It was a surprise. I was so fucking rigid, you know? I left her later that very same day. I turned my head to see if she walked away or still stood there... She was devastated. She still stood there crying and wondered why I'm walking away from everything. She was begging me to come back. She shouted that she knew I felt the same and sad because I will regret it one day. She said that if she left she'd never come back again. She was absolutely correct in everything she ever said to me. And that's the last time I ever saw my wonderful Alexandra. I am so incredibly fortunate that I met someone like Alexandra. Although it was less than three years being a couple of scientists exploring new worlds together, we were an exceptionally compatible and near perfect match. We were only 18 when we first met. She was the social magnet, the shining massive star of a huge group of friends. I was at my life's absolute peak and somewhere I just lost myself in life. Eventually I ended up losing her, too. And from that emptiness I lost the spark of life, and drug abuse was really just a matter of time. I will always have her in my heart and think of her at New Year's Eve. It will always be a tough one during New Year's Eve. New Year's Eve in 2003 - the biggest day of my life. It was the day we first met in real life. I couldn't hug her, I shook her hand and she laughed at me. She thought I was weird, I guess. I was too nervous. She was a brunette more beautiful than anyone I'd ever met, but then we hung out, we were trying sex and concluded both were way too drunk to make it into anything but an awkward teenage moment in the darkness backstage. It was a huge party with famous people that made me realize I was at something quite exclusive. And it was a big deal. I was the emo kid from afar, I was only let into the group 'cause she noticed me and we started connecting. It was a community of friends of indie fanatics. I listened to 90's emo like American Football. I came alone from the calm woods in the west. Only selected and invited had the possibility to be there. And I somehow got invited. There I was, a young dreamer feeling left out back home, finding the days of his lives in goddamn Stockholm. New Year's Day we went to our common friends place in Stockholm. We were sober, and we'd only get my things. We made it very special. The suffering and tragedy cancer brings never leaves once it strikes. It's forever a heavy burden to carry through life. The pain of losing a loved one kind of becomes a cancer in itself, but in the end we must cherish the memories we have with the ones that suddenly left, too soon or slowly faded away. Last I heard from ripple of whispers old common friends sent out, she was still the diamond I remember her to be. She never once strayed from being the most magnificent being. She kept her glory all the way to the end. Alexandra illuminated a rather dark world for a lot of people all of her life. She was the guiding light. Someone that emanated an embracing warmth and endless love that grows amidst people the most beautiful evening of a perfect summer season. We will miss the overwhelmingly selfless shining star that she was forever.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder... Nature holds our once lost beauty. There is always time to regenerate. Forgiveness is always right there. Take it. Say you love the world, even if the darkness foreshadows across the lands, the skies, our minds. Have courage. There is time to heal. Revive one another. Hold each other. Cry for peace. Don't hold back. Believe in what is meant to be. Be kind to what lives through us all. We're all the same. Traits differentiate, but we're all the same living, feeling, creatures. The same atoms that binds us. Man to animal. Animal to man. Dreams and memories are our stories to pass on through generations to come. A millennia of our inspiration to unfold and discover. Until we reach through tranquility of our rest. Our deep sanctuary of peace when we become one within our own home, our Earth. The circle of life.

MrMylolman99 Not so the instrumentation but also the lyrics, was all about Tom, but maybe what I'm more worried about is for the lyrics, as a fan of Architects lyrics....but as they've been together for more than a decade and the things they believe and stand for is almost the same for every member, I believe they can work out on the lyrical aspect too.. maybe the composition will be the hardest part.. who knows... but to any of this happen they will need to have this motivation within themselves, which I also don't know if they will have.... so, we just have to wait and see what's next... as Tom himself said about the band, "we never know what's coming next"

It's really just intense practice and a long time of messing around in each editing software. I've been asked for tutorials a lot and I've also been thinking about doing them, but it's really hard to decide where and how to start with them, because there are so many steps and different aspects of editing I do in my videos that it's really hard and time consuming to teach to people, especially if you are just starting at editing. It's way simpler to just mess around with the editing softwares yourself, maybe watch some tutorials while you're at it, and then when you get familiar with it you can start figuring out how you could do different things with the software.
