This is off of his first solo album, released in 1970. All instruments and vocals are by Paul. His first classic post-Beatles song.

Right after the infamous breakup of the band, McCartney fell into a spiral and began drinking to excess. After a prolonged period of time of putting up with it, Linda confronted Paul about the situation. Fortunately, she convinced him to sort things out and refocus on his music. I'm certain the line that says she, 'hung him on the line', is in reference to him drying out from drinking.

Needless to say this was a tribute to his late wife Linda the mother of his children. He did everything by himself all the instruments and production and kinda recorded it secretly since The Beatles were yet to formally break up. Due to all the tensions and drama that was going in around and withing Beatles at that time Paul made sure to release his debut album before the last Beatles album came. This song is a Paul standard a song he always includes in his shows.

I very much enjoyed your sweet reaction, Endeavor. ❤ The song was written just for Linda. It was on Paul's first solo album, "McCartney," on which he played all the instruments. Curiously, it was released a week or two Beatles final album, "Let it Be." Paul's album included an interview he did with himself, in which it was revealed for the first time that the Beatles had broken up. And an entire musical culture was shaken to its roots!

The older child is Linda's daughter (Heather) from a previous marriage -- Paul adopted her within a couple of years. The younger child is Linda and Paul's (Mary). Great song, and a touching video. Good reaction.

Excellent wedding song. The best….. His wife Linda, her father is Eastman…. So the camera was a Kodak lol. I recommend listening to Wings over America, it’s a live concert album. Truly amazing and you will be amazed. Yours sincerely.. RS From Ottawa Canada.

this was written for Linda McCartney. It saddens me how stories are lost. And they were such a wonderful couple dedicated to their family and their causes. And of course being famous musicians. And Linda is a accomplished photographer and author of cookbooks for vegetarian diet. and she took all these pictures but I think
