A wonderful service! Such happy memories of HM and HRH. May they rest in peace. can't resist noting Huw Edwards commentating during the opening procession that only British music had been chosen, while everyone was processing to Mendelssohn's Second Organ Sonata. Perhaps it's the Queen Victoria connection that they were thinking of...

Couldn't help noticing (at 12:06) that Huw Edwards says that the Royal Family had insisted that 'only music by British composers will be involved in today's service' - just as a movement from a Mendelssohn sonata is being played on the organ...

😆😆😆😆 I guess being adored by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and all those visits to Britain gained him honorary status of some sort.

Great catch, though! Your comment has afforded me much laughter.

I learned this insight after years on the organ bench - the service is what begins after the preludes and ends before the postlude. If you consider that, then that would explain things; these would not be part of the service, per se.

Very funny 😀 I started to doubt my knowledge of Mendelssohn

A great and powerful sermon. What an incredibly moving service. I really appreciate you uploading this. My late grandmother was a devout Christian and an admirer of Her Majesty the Queen. It brought back lots of great emotions and memories. Thank you!

In 38:03-38:16 the Bishop of Canterbury talks about gossip. The Queen keeps completely neutral but you see in Prince Philips face that he agrees.

It would be great to see the recording of the 10th anniversary service of the 7/7 bombing, at St.Paul's Cathedral.

Two things struck me about the prayer leaders: first, some of them were from countries that abolished the Monarchy (e.g. Nigeria, Pakistan); and second, there was no prayer leader from any of Canada, Australia or New Zealand. However, a super service.

Are you sure? Do you mean @26:50? Certainly a good doppelganger lookalike. But unlikely that JB would sing in the choir? What a hoot! (Pun intended).

St Paul and Westminister Abbey. Are there no other places in london for Royal events?

Perhaps your question should be are there other places as magnificent as St. Paul's or Westminster Abbey.

This must be the church that got rid of their progressive Master of the Choir, that they appointed. Never been to St Paul’s since.
