dialogue at the start is between Istaroth and Barbatos. Barbatos contemplating if this is the one Istaroth warned him about. and Istaroth warning of this particular timeline in wich Aether never woke up They are not the same.

@@Tvxumiii It is rather obvious. I have played with many different fonts and strange symbols enough to recognize alphabet letters hidden in other form. BARBATOS:[Insert text] ISTAROTH:[insert text] and besides mine is not a theory but observation. It could really well be that Venti has dual soul thing inside in which one is barbatos the wind and the other is Istaroth the time. Atleast based on this fan made anniversary video that could play into this idea. Since Venti's demeanor did make 180 at the end. So we could be both right at the same time. Venti Is Both and isn't at same time. Paradox? It certainly fits into venti existence as he is full of paradoxes. "Weakest archon" But has the dedicated largest church for crying out loud. An other theory. Two in fact as to why Venti suddenly had time alteration. First Istaroth maybe took momentarily control turning ever blowing wind into sands of time. Afterall wind can't go forward freely without time moving. Thus reversing the flow. They could do this since similar yet different to nahida. Barbatos wind spirit is creation of Istaroth. While Rukhadevatta made Nahida from Irminsul's branch. Second, Istaroth gave just in case some of their divinity to Barbatos so that He has to wait until worst outcome comes order to use it in needed moment "golden hour if you will". But it is evident in the video that they are not the one and the same, but paradoxically could be. Which is the reason behind dialogue snippet in the begining. Barbatos speaking with his other self similarily to Focalor's and furina's case. Me partypooper? I made observation and told it. I may have had bit harsher tone to my comment to discredit a theory. If so I apologize. purely my opinion. I do personally think Nahida having connection to the Irminsul and Zhongli being the oldest should remember/know Istaroth. Venti is 2600 year old and Zhongli almost triple. It doesn't make sense he to not know barbatos is Istaroth. And we know that Istaroth is not erased from irminsul since records and tales about them still exists. Forgotten, maybe. Erased not. Rukhadevatta was erased and so even in game all books of her tale are rewitten as if she never existed in the first place only mention of her after Archon quest is in some island where time doesn't flow. Otherwise we wouldn't even have a chance to learn Istaroth's existence. Hope this clarifies my thought process. If you even read this in which you propably won't.

Somewhat is my pure unadultarated opinion. after all she suspects that Makoto her twin sister received help from greater existence to plant sacred sakura tree. She could notice tiny hints of time being the power in question. Im only mentioning Zhongli's age because he is relevant to this topic as he has been here since the very begining. So as long god of time os not erased from irminsul Zhongli should know about them on surface level. And if you really stretch theories around the most mysterious archon in tyvat wich is Zhongli he could be decender, a fallen star, a shade of space, creation of shade of space, dragon sovereign that contracted himself to celestia save him from dying or he betrayed dragons in favor for humans, or a dragon (not sovereign) that is contracted to silence.

Theory Timee: We all saw that Venti's gnosis has a crown at the top that would mean that Venti is the "Head" of the seven, he turned back time countless times, meeting us countless time Everything happened The Same Every Time, we saw Venti summoning Istaroth's power even if he's the god of wind(wind would mean freedoom in the ancient greece bc the wind can go everywere do everything just like birds in the sky) that would make him having a stronger connection whit Celestia than the other Archons This is my delulu btw is my theory ;)

@@MoonlightOfficialGacha Thank you, kind soul! Brace yourself, this is gonna be long. So... There's some information that Venti and Istaroth used to be worshipped side by side, but somehow she was forgotten and vanished. Based off that and Barbatos true form being an elemental being (who's origin was not clearly stated), the various lines that connect time and wind across the game suggests that he's either a small "branch" of her power, the one responsible for taking care of the wind, or somewhat of her "son", with her being his creator of sorts. Venti, or rather Barbatos, is no ordinary being, although I think that much is clear. Even his interference on the whole Mondstadt situation (the rebellion) is suspicious, because what would a tiny elemental being gain from helping out some mortals? " Oh, it's because of his friend", yes, but he would need to befriend the nameless Bard for a start. Point in case, my theory is that Istaroth (who, being the Goddess of Time, knew what had to be done) sent Barbatos to familiarize himself with staying amongst humans so he could play his part on the revolution and lately become the Archon of Mondstadt and be worshipped as the God of Freedom. The rest, as we say, it's history; the story of Teyvat unfolds as it was supposed to, all because of being under Istaroth's cautious glance and her moving some pieces here and there so time could keep on flowing perfectly. But then.. Why does no one talk about her nowadays? The only way we have of even knowing her name was written backwards in a long forgotten document. If Istaroth was such a powerful and essential being for Teyvat, why would she just disappear? She made no move to make people forcefully forget her (at least not that we know about), and there's still plenty of hints of her correlation with Venti and her previous influence, seen in the statues of her, for example. Said statues also strongly implies that she wasn't a goddess of a single nation, but rather was influential on all of Teyvat. So what happened? If my theory of Istaroth sometimes intervening to make sure time is flowing in it's right path is correct, then something must have happened that made it necessary for her to step away from her throne willingly so there would be no or very few bad consequences. As for what would that be... I think we have plenty of options. Be it Kaenri'ah, the Cataclysm, the whole Abyss ordeal, Tsaritsa and her collecting gnosis, Archons rebelling against Celestia (some more strongly than others), hell, even the coming of the Twins. Teyvat is changing, if you put all pieces together. It could even be called the beginning of a new era. Remember last time Teyvat changed drastically? Istaroth was there, spreading "tiny seeds of hope, brought by the wind and cultivated by time". What's to say she isn't doing the same thing now? For all we know, in the future we could find out that, if not all of it was planned, the result was. And Venti would be a key player for this all to unfold, which would create an opening for a 2nd Archon Quest ;) Imagine he really was helping everything happen. Our jokes about how he wasn't kidding when he wished for the winds to protect us and then an Anemo user (mostly the boys) is always nearby on our journey, and always end up either saving us or - at the very least - giving us a little push on the right direction, intentionally or not. I personally think that would be pretty awesome, but it could be just me.
