I can't praise enough this band. My mind is blown away. Thy really stand out from their peers. What a talent. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Archspire. The harmony is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of musical theiry most of the riffs will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also Oli’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his fast paced lyrics- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these linrs, to realise that they’re not just gory- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Archspire truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Oli’s existential catchphrase “Bleargh,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Spencer Prewett’s genius unfolds itself on their laptops. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have an Archspire tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

LMAO! It definitely wouldn't hurt. Honestly, some of us have been doing this as long as we've been vocalists but sadly, most people say it's "too much" and "draws attention from the music". I used to constantly get asked "...what kind of rap do you listen to?" to which I would always reply "...not much, honestly." I just always felt like all the time guys like Mark Hunter (I'm not bashing the guy, just using him as a reference) spent screaming a syllable or two could be better spent expanding a thought/idea or even writing better lyrics. But...catchy wins in many sectors, I'm sure glad extreme/death metal isn't one of those places where that applies; it seems like the more technical it gets, the more we love it. Over the last 5-10 years I think people have taken notice of a serious surge in the amount of syllables vocalists are throwing into metal and I applaud it. The standard/game has been upped for all other sectors, there's no reason the guys behind the mic shouldn't be stepping the game up as well. Now I suddenly understand why my lyrics have always been 2+ pages...shit.
