Amazing performance. The main thing I'm getting from watching these auditions is that Spencer is a literal machine in terms of precision and that people who can absorb what his style is and adapt their own version of it will be better off than people who are trying to match that precision perfectly, unless it happens to come naturally to them.

As someone who has both drummed and sought out highly technical drummers for over 15+ years, I mean it when I say Spencer might be one of the most talented drummers I've ever seen in my life. Physically I'm not sure there's any contest, but the fact that he mastered stuff like his four stroke rolls and gravity blasts to create totally new signature sound ideas make him beyond amazing imo.

Just my twopence: If I were a member of Archspire I'd consider it an honour that undeniable masters of the death-metal kit such as John and Kevin submitted entries/auditioned for the gig; if I were primarily looking for a bandmate as well, I'd have to go for James or Greg, might give the edge to James who's also demonstrably got a sense of humour, adding to the chops...Good luck!

I'm a bit of a blast beat noob so I don't know the name of the specific blast where your snare hand is following instead of leading, but I really really enjoyed your snare work during those parts. Usually when I hear that type of blast the drummer puts way too much emphasis on the now backbeat snare, but you put your stick really close to the skin and got a great muffled sound out of it, which you then punctuated with those super loud (rimshots?) pops. Very awesome stuff.
