Excellent video and brilliant commentary! This is proper old-school KZbin! Straight to the point, timelapse the unnecessary and no bollocks... I'd be really interested in future videos about your welding techniques - I know you said there are always those who just need to shit themselves over how you're doing your job wrong, but if they had any nous, they'd know to learn from every craftsman.

Great video, I spent many year using the Fronius as a boilermaker and certified welder on everything from aluminium to stainless and carbon steel and both solid wire and flux core, much of which was either UT or X-ray tested. They are intimidating at first but are so easy once you get used to them. And it great to see you showing the fabrication of the jobs.

Have your shop look into stone cones. The attach to a regular grinder and allow to clean up the inside of the saddle cuts alot easier. And get yourself a pipefitter blue book, it has the ordinates for different size branches. You can also download an app called Lateral Pipe. Its a blue and white icon with a pic of a saddle on it. It works with metric too

Love your comment on "every now and again i have to fight the pipe " (on the rollers) I did a job of 6" pipe a while ago with 90° and flanges. And made a Y splitter to fit to PVC underground pipe. All cut and tacked on site and welded on the floor. 😁

One of my first apprentice roles in the fab shop after making sure the tea boiler was topped up was to make templates from 2”-8” from caff sheet. Love the flange jig - beats holding it and saying to the welder “if it looks ok stick a ticky tac on it plz” 😂

I had a similar job only the chambers where half the size and they wouldn’t let us use mig in the root or to tack because they wanted the insides of chambers smooth and spatter free. We also used positioners with fixtures that would bolt to the flange holes and we would spin the positioner plate by hand.

I like Your work. Fast And tidy. Do u ever USE dual shield flux core? We do every weld with dual shield flux core. Roots we USE a metal cored wire hyundai sc-70-t cored. ITS just lovely to weld roots with. Works nice on low currents. And we USE hyundai supercored 81mag. And hyndai supercored 71t. Makes nice welds in every positions.
@donovanmorris1634 жыл бұрын
You use metal core wire for your root? I'm interested in how you do that? I'm trying to check out how other people weld pipe since my co-workers only use 6010 & 7018
@georgehoveyjr23294 жыл бұрын
Donovan Morris you can use metal core or hard wire. I prefer hardwire for all passes but I’ve used metal core, hardwire and flux core. Flux core is old school and lower quality with a tendency to trap slag. Hardwire is the cleanest of all of them. Flux core is the fastest.
@ktmturbo58364 жыл бұрын
George Hovey Jr I cant agree on lower quality. IT has better quality then solid wire.
@ktmturbo58364 жыл бұрын
Donovan Morris yes we do almost every root with metal core wire. Somtimes downward. You can go low on amps And IT have excellent properties if there is big openings. No problem welding 6 mm gap. But we dont USE more than 3 mm gap size.
@ktmturbo58364 жыл бұрын
But i dont mean regular flux core wire. I mean dual shield flux core wire

@ARCONEWELDING4 жыл бұрын
i used to use bosh grinders but they all broke one by one, only my 9" bosh survived. The metabo grinder is thicker then the bosh so its harder to hold comfortable, my only issue
@MarioMoreno824 жыл бұрын
@@ARCONEWELDING Me personally i use 5" dewalt because its thinner and lighter more confortable than bosch and use 9"bosch,...but i my company we also have 5" bosch and usually breaks down faster than dewalt...i heard good about metabo but here theres not many places that sell them i will order online...thanks...
@zeroyon45624 жыл бұрын
@@MarioMoreno82 Metabo is good, try Fein if you can get it. I'm on a Fein at the moment (was using protool, then bosch), now I'm on the variable low speed Fein for doing stainless and it's a beast.
