How are you able to ground to the peice on your turning jig without arc burning that tube you use for rolling out? I want to build a small set up like that at work. I only have this gigantic positioner at work and I can't roll anything under 4" because it's so slow.
@ARCONEWELDINGКүн бұрын
Hello mate, from my understanding, you need a minimum of three points of contact to not get Arc burn, so this whole sleeve has multiple contact points, and I get zero arc burn

I'm a pipe fabricator in Louisiana, USA and my favorite thing about watching these videos is that even though the people that taught us our trade were 3500 miles apart, the techniques are the same. It's just universal. Right down to the broken table vise

That further goes to show we both have the same correct technique

Good content, as always! I know you have a good working system to cut the holes for the branches, but to make it more clean, a sugestion is to try out Fein QuickIN system with carbide cutters. It can also be an excuse to by some new cool tools...

I spool pipe all the time. The worst thing is when the fitters leave a improper gap (too small) takes forever to open it bevel it and weld it. Sucks. Great vid! We use .035 and 7018 fill and cap, nice job! Oh im in Canada Also they use 4 bride tacks so cutting them out cleaning and grinding your stops takes time yr fast man!

Interesting video, good welds, but are you qualified in positional welding/site welding where you cannot easily turn the pipe to an easy position to weld it up?

why run nitrogen ?

Way cheaper than argon and because it's not food grade nitrogen can be used

Check out there called interleaf flap wheels if you haven’t heard of them for your stainless pipe I do a lot of stainless pipe too and its a round drum style wheel I use the 3” round 2” wide wheels on a 1/4” arbor and run it in a cordless drill it’s a scotch brite and flap disc / sand paper mix I use like a 80 grit and they work great to clean the pipe oxide off. I even use them to put grain back in stainless plate after I weld and grind parts good for blending. However the make them in all sandpaper flap disc style and for some reason I never had luck but the scotch brite mix ones work great one of my go to wheels for work like that. They probably wouldn’t work well for rust removal on that sheet you did maybe a little but for the pipe work and blending stainless and some aluminum works great not as aggressive as some other wheels like a in between 👍

The 3m purple disk and the Norton orange ceramic are my two favorites for removing rust/paint/oxides. Nothing I have used is better for the price, considering the resulting quality of the metal surface and time that it takes to get the job done. 3M makes top notch products.

Ok that mill scale removal is wild, shame I dont work somewhere where we do enough steel fab work to justify buying these over 30 pence grunding fibre disks that go blunt after a couple of minutes. I cant even get them to consider the cubitron 982c's haha
@ARCONEWELDING18 күн бұрын
Yeah mate these are good but obviously it just depends on where you work if it can be justified

3m stuff has always been top-notch in my experience, so I have extremely high expectations for 3m products. I thought it may be a bit of a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Then, you start grinding mill scale and glowing welds😮.
@ktmturbo583618 күн бұрын
For heavier grinding jobs, I recommend 3m cubitron 125x7mm have not tried any other brands that are anywhere near as good.

I told people about these discs a while back as they are amazing when it comes to fabrication.. especially if you are working with rusty scraps. They clean so fast and as you said to a better quality than a grit 40 flap disc. they not cheap but they pay for them selves in the sheer amount of time you save during work. I've found its better to buy these discs in bulk rather than separately as you can get a nice saving. Order them through a 3m rep for a discount too : ) Its annoying when people try and compare these to normal flap discs in terms of speed as its a entirely different product. Also these are even better when paired with a variable speed angle grinder.
@CAZMO41018 күн бұрын
looks good, I just wish companies would use lasers to remove rust and mill scale.
@mattefrnz18 күн бұрын
it’s expensive process, not all companies can afford it
