Looks like according to the Glossary, "Out of Play" means "Cannot be interacted with", so you can't interact with the out of play gate to place a ship there that would go to the Twisted Passage
@slabby0085 ай бұрын
Equally, a bit of a nitpick, but the Twisted Passage is not considered adjacent to any other system so Galactic Rifles shouldn't have been used to pick off Kyle's ships.

1:09:07 Edward: "I will build there..." Ken: "... You don't have to control it, do you?" Edward: "You do, but I do." Ken: "No you don't." Edward: "How so?" Ken: "Cause there's an Empire ship there." Edward: "It doesn't matter... I have more." Ken: "Oh because you have more..." The requirements to build a building only require you have Loyal pieces in the system. Control is not required. However, if the system is controlled by anyone other than you, the piece is placed damaged. One fresh Imperial ships is enough for the Empire to control the system, it ignores all player ships no matter how many they have. Normally, the Pressence Law grants regents control Empire-controlled systems during their turn, as long as they have Loyal pieces in the system. However, Martial Law modifies this so that non-Admiral players must also have Imperial Officers or Rogue Admirals to control Empire-controlled systems on their turn. So Edward can build his city, it just should enter play damaged because the Empire controls the system and Edward doesn't.

1:10:47 Kyle: "I'm going to continue my catapult move and go to any chevron place." You forgot that each time you move away from the Twisted Passage, you have to reroll the event die, possibly changing which planets it is connected to.
@EnergySurge4 ай бұрын
1:21:10 Kyle: "You don't control that, Ken controls that." That's partially correct. Edward doesn't control that system, but neither does Ken. The Empire controls that system. Normally, the First Regent controls Empire-controlled systems for scoring, but Martial Law modifies this rule and adds more requirements in addition to being the First-Regent. However, Ken still doesn't control that system during scoring as he isn't the First-Regent. Edward: "The Empire controls." Ken: "No, we're under Martial Law. Read it." Edward: "don't control Empire controlled, alright" I believe they came to the wrong conclusion here. The Steward's Ambition only cares if the Empire controls Outlaw cities. The Steward doesn't need to control the cities himself. He doesn't need to be the First-Regent, which is a requirement to control Empire-controlled systems, the Ambition merely requires him to be a Regent. In fact even if he controls all the Outlaw cities with his Loyal ships, that's not enough. The Grand Ambition specifically requires the *Empire* to control the Outlaw cities. And the Empire controls the system regardless of whether the Steward controls it. Of course, it will still be difficult to accomplish this ambition with Martial Law preventing him from moving the Imperial ships like normal. 1:21:45 Ken: "Control at least nine planets, I think I control twelve." Ken only controls one planet. The Fuel planet in cluster one is controlled by Ken. The other eleven planets he is counting are controlled by the Empire as they each contain at least one fresh Imperial ship. Even the three weapon planets where he has two Loyal ships with an Imperial ship are not controlled because a fresh Imperial ship ignores player ships when determining control. Just because the Empire controls a planet, does not mean you control that planet when scoring. The Admiral's objective card reminds you that, "You control planets controlled by the Empire, if you are the First Regent." Ken needs to become the First Regent to score Empire controlled systems or move Imperial ships out of systems he can control with his own Loyal ships.

@@EnergySurge I was wondering how he got to 12. I thought that empire controlled was control for the Admiral, but only for the first regent?? wow.

Wow, sooooo many new rules in this Act! Starts to get crazy hard to keep track of everything. Makes sense why they say not to jump into the campaign game until you have a strong grasp of the fundamentals

if you change faction in the 2nd act, are they able to 'progress' in act 3, just like the starting factions can?

Yes. If you succeed in a chapter you can either change or stick with that faction.

I am not sure playing the base game (+/- L&L) much before trying the campaign is that useful as the full game is so different with Empire control; the 3 Laws; Outlaws vs Regents; Blight: Edicts & Crises; Summits: All the extra rules from the Fates and their strange ways and so on 😀

it helps with the basic mechanics and card actions. just my opinion.

This Campaign has been quite interesting if rather restrained. I played in 7 campaigns during development but these were two player and very confrontational. The lack of raiding is puzzling - Rogue Admiral, for instance, is only 2 keys for access to the Imperial Fleet. I see at around 2 hours Ken kicks off a raiding frenzy with 6 keys!
@Tanathonos5 ай бұрын
Agreed. I kind of forgot how becoming first regent works, but wouldn't securing the council let you become first regent, and with that win tycoon ambition and stop Edward from having 5 points off his great ambition. And securing the council is just destroying any city Edward has on the board. Felt like a lot of the time they just refused to look at stealing each other's stuff because there was so much to think about with their own abilities.
@Big_Dai5 ай бұрын
@@Tanathonos I'd call that a design issue. There's just too much to track.
@Tanathonos5 ай бұрын
@@Big_Dai Eh, or a fonction of running a stream where they have to deal with camera changes, putting things in specific spots for the audience, constantly talk about their turn/thoughts out loud, while having played the campaign only once before. I don't blame the heavy cardboard crew at all for this and everything I stated is why they have the best playthroughs out there, but it also means that they have that much more cognitive load to deal with.

You can tell that this game had a LOT of confusion, asking about rules and edge-cases.. Thing that didn't happen as much during previous Acts. This last one was very messy, not easy to follow, and not as gratifying as I would have wanted it to be! And that is considering this group is actually good in these kind of situations!!
@efarien1405 ай бұрын
Wow I'm surprised to hear that! Can you explain why you didn't feel satisfied by it? I was on the edge of my seat until the very end, and the points came down to a photo finish. Even from a thematic perspective, I thought the story of the characters on display was so interesting!
@Allen-PАй бұрын
@@efarien140 I felt that way too. So many cards with rule changes in play make it difficult to follow. I am worried about this in our campaign. Seems like to missed a big one with Ken and what 'control' meant. I'm still not clear!
