These have been great reviews. I've been going down the desk evap cooler rabbit hole after two failed purchases on my end. y big things I'm after: 1) noise, 2) air flow, 3) temp drops. If you can cover noise, that's be awesome.

Thank you for watching! There is a video I am working on which will have a spectral analysis and noise analysis for each of the units. Also I have some tips, and modifications that can help reduce unwanted noise.

@@TheCuriousEngineerChannel Looking forward to it, I really enjoy the perfectionism analysis. Evap coolers *should* be simple. Rooftop units figured it out decades ago. Have 4-12" thick cooling fabric cores, narrow spaces in the fabric core, keep the fabric core wet, and maintain noise below jet engine level. It seems no desk cooler wants to check all those boxes and keep it under $100.

Okay, this is the best video on the Arctic Air. So much actual helpful information. I bought one recently at CVS and the water would hardly go down at all, even after running 12 hours on medium speed. After the fan dried out the pre soaked/frozen filter, it remained dry. I assumed it was defective, so I exchanged it. The plastics seem much cheaper on my new one and the fan design was different. Still have the problem of not using the water and the filter being dry. I'm looking at the reservoir of yours and it looks different than my first 2. I'm assuming you also bought this recently. How many versions are they selling at the same time? Obviously at least 3. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm not looking for it to work miracles or even cool my room. I'm wanting to use it next to my head when I sleep. I'm just looking for a cooler breeze when compared to a conventional fan. Edit: Okay, now I think I understand how it works. That plastic cap in the reservoir has a screw holding it down on mine (sidenote- I'm sure it's not stainless and will rust at some point). I took it off and see how the water is dispensed. I didn't realize it was electric. It looks like it essentially creates a pin hole sized opening? On medium there was basically nothing come out, but at the top setting, there was definitely more. I'm going to try it on high setting tonight. I was liking the fan speed and noise of the medium setting (it is literally about a foot away from my head). I also heard the harmonic noise that comes with the lid on. It goes away if you put something on top or move it to be slightly ajar). I'm wondering if the first one I bought would have had this problem. The plastics seemed to be much higher quality than the one I exchanged it for. When I went to exchange I noticed that there were two boxes. One where the coloring was slightly darker. The first one I got had the lighter coloring, so I figured I'd try the darker one. This whole thing screams like they rushed it to market. Or had supply chain issues and had to switch manufacturers. I just think it is really interesting that they have three iterations of the same product on sale at stores at the same time. I figure if anyone would be interested in my observations, it would be you. Glad to be a new subscriber!

Excellent catch! I am finishing up a video on exactly what you've discovered when I bought a second one! It will be out very soon. The one you've got it OK, but I prefer the one I've already tested for many of the reasons you've mentioned. That video should be out in the next few weeks. Without spilling too much as to what's going to be in that video - perhaps try to exchange it for the one with a similar box to the first one you got. You'll have a much easier time finding replacement filters. :) Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Get this:. I just bought one of these and it has the packaging for the 2105 model......at first I was happy, but inside it's clearly seems to be the undesirable model ! It was on clearance at Walmart for $10 and it said the regular price was $40. So maybe I will still work out to be a better deal than paying full price? I can't imagine the better model is a 4x better unit.

Wow! The performance is different between the two units (I did testing on both), but the biggest concern I had was the inability to find replacement filters. But for $10, I'm not sure that's as big a deal. Thanks for watching!

Just got one of these off Amazon for cooling my room. Can’t wait to try it out, for the price can’t go wrong. Love your videos, are you available to chat?

I live in south Carolina and Humidity is very high.Even in a small room its just a fan. I have it beside my bed and use it as a fan now lol.

Yeah, above 65% RH the cooling performance decreases to the point at above 70% RH it can actually make you feel warmer. However, if you use it with a central or window air conditioner that is sufficiently sized, it will provide additional cooling! Thanks for watching!

Does it damage laptop and such? I plan of having to actually have it face my overheating laptop

Question: How did you remove the white tap on the ultrasonic transducer? Mine seems to be stuck & I do not want to break it. Edit: I want to remove it to clean it bc it seems that the water I put in is not dispensing thru to the filter

It took a bit of gentle prying under the cap to get it to come off. However, once it was off, it didn’t snap back in the same way. I feel it was put there for a UV-C function that was never added. Thanks for watching.
