This is only a 6x6" cube, people. It's not going to cool your room it's going to cool your personal space. #1 - freeze the filter #2 use ice cubes in the water tray, put it about 3-4 feet away from you. You step out of the zone, you're not going to feel cool anymore. I work for long periods in front of my computer, and it's perfect for that. Even after the filter thaws and the ice is melted, it's still cooler than just having a fan.

@IxOTAKUxNINJAxI5 жыл бұрын
I have 4 of these to replace my existing artic air v1. It is slightly bigger with an adjustable front vent. The fan is much more powerfull then the existing artic air. And the new filter is better than the old thin paper one. From my experience living in Hawaii it gets hot year round. This product is intended for personal use but it will tend to cools the air around me in an hour if used the right way. As all reviews will say. Freeze the filter. Add ice cold water and ice chips in the top for full effect. Make sure to have a second and 3rd filter ready every 1-2 hours. I will say tho. It does the job right when I need it the most during the hot and humid summer days.

I love my Artic Air. I have the original model and have been using it for over two years. It is a "personal space" cooler and is not made to cool an entire room. Mine has worked for what it was designed to do. I sleep with it on my night stand and use it in the day on my desk when I am working. I use distilled water in it just so there is no scale buildup. No complaints here.

I've heard many like the original over the new one. The main complaint has been the change with the plug. Thanks for sharing the tip with the distilled water.

I have the Arctic air tower it’s bigger its a cylinder shaped one but I’m a little confused ... the arctic original is cube shaped and the upgrade ultra is also cubed shaped as you’ve just demonstrated here for us today so where does the the cylinder shaped one fit into all of this I’m a little confused 🤷🏻♀️

1. It's basically a tiny swamp cooler. Which are fine in dry air conditions. 2. They could drop the price by eliminating the built in light. Why do you need that? 3. It should come with two filters so you can be freezing one while using the other. All that said, it might be perfect for a smaller truck camper like mine. I'll consider it. Thanks for the great review.

The ice in water would certainly remove the heat from the room, however, water alone will also help through latent heat of evaporation. This is at best a Humidifier/De-Humidifier depending on your climate. Its misleading to call it an air-conditioner in the strictest sense although it does adjust the temperature.

Nice to see a positive review about this product! Many people talk bad about this and the original version. I've used both the revised original version w/ the adjustable vents and the 2019 version and I'm pleased with them both. As you said it's about the realistic expectation it creates a comfortable micro climate around you vs cooling a whole room which it's not capable of doing. I don't freeze the filters and I'm sitting in about 80-85 degrees and it's blowing out 59-63 degree air which is comfortable to me. Only other thing that is worth mentioning is this will not work in higher humidity levels 50% or higher forget it. Even at 30-40% mark you will start seeing extremely reduced performance unfortunately. I've seen another reviewer using it in 40-45%+ humidity levels and saying it doesn't work well, clearly they don't understand how evaporative cooling works!
@Jeffreviews4u5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, if the buyer realizes that this unit is meant for individual use they will be very happy. They should not expect a $40 whole room air conditioner. I appreciate the tip on humidity, I wonder if a frozen filter would help in areas with higher humidity.

Thanks for saying something about it not working in high humidity. I just saw one at a local store by me and was tempted, but wanted to check reviews first. I live in Michigan, where the humidity is pretty much always higher than 50%. So, I would think this product wouldn't work for me.
@luckspell5 жыл бұрын
The machine has to break the surface tension of water atomize it and make a copper magnet move so because it doesn't say how to destroy energy in the form of heat like destroying matter its just a fan with a humidifier and overall will make the room hotter and more humid because you're turning electric current and potential energy into kinetic energy that will turn into heat energy just for your body because it doesn't displace heat energy out of a room it only creates it but if you place it facing you technically it will displace the heat that is with you elsewhere in the room. That's why we've been using ac for the past 999 googleplexian years in the burbs with our google years old houses

At he unit is already high $39.95. Off course they recommend to replace the filter $9.99 every 3-6 months. I can see if it's $3.99 - $4.99.

I opted for the Icybreeze AC/ cooler hybrid. I live in the south where these evaporative coolers dont work. I do have to add ice in the cooler but it's cold dry air coming out of it that rivals the coldness and dryness of a traditional air conditioner.

I want to be clear - is this an American made product? I have heard it is made in the USA? If so then as someone who likes to buy American and support our American working class, I think that adds to the allure of this product for some of us. I have a normal arctic air and I actually love it; I put it by my bed when I sleep, and on hot 100+ degree desert nights, the little original arctic air has been a godsend for me. Thanks!
@Jeffreviews4u5 жыл бұрын
These items are made in China. A lot of people really enjoy this product. I have heard that results are better in a dryer environment. Others use it in conjunction with the AC so humidity isn't an issue. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Live in Northern Virginia and I spend about 5 hrs in my car testing in between jobs my car ac uses up too much gas will this cool my car under the hot 90degree sun?
@Jeffreviews4u5 жыл бұрын
I could see it cooling down you in your car depending on the size of your car. Most likely this would not cool down your car. It is a personal air cooler. That being said I have hear many van lifers say they use it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I got one a few days ago. So far I'm pretty happy with it, possibly because I had low expectations going in. If you don't expect it to replace a real air-conditioner it's okay.
@Jeffreviews4u4 жыл бұрын
you're right...if you go into this thinking it is a personal cooler you wont be disappointed.
@Furnus1055 жыл бұрын
It's not cooling air down that far. Wind created naturally or by fans reduce the temperature too, but when the air stops a few feet over, the temperature "reduced" by the fan will be back to whatever it was. Just so you dont think the fan "cooled" the air permanently.
@Jeffreviews4u5 жыл бұрын
That's a great point! The change in temperature is temporary. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thank you for that, I was curious I’m an Esthetician/ nail tech and the salon I work at is not always so cool (cheap boss) so I wanted something I could use to cool me and my clients down on hot days. Main table it would be perfect and when I’m giving massage I get hot in my small room. Looks perfect for me! Is there a 2020 model? Or is this the latest?

as far as I know there is not a 2020 model - yet. this little cooler works well in close proximity but not for those sitting further away.

Reducing the overall temperature in a room seems pretty good to me this unit is intended to help you cool down and not necessarily cool down the room. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You need a slight bit of outside air to drop the humidity in the room or it just gets humid

@-Scraps-5 жыл бұрын
Did you measure the drop in ambient temps? If so, what was it with water vs ice? And did you ever add ice in the reservoir along with the frozen filter to see how many hours it would cool for and how cold?
@Jeffreviews4u5 жыл бұрын
I did not do a drop in room temperature. This is not intended to lower the temperature in the room, just cool you. You get about 30 minutes of extra cooling with a frozen filter.
@-Scraps-5 жыл бұрын
I meant measuring normal ambient conditions without blasting it with a hairdryer. Would love to see how much and how long it can cool with ice water in the tray and a frozen filter.
@traceyjscott0694 жыл бұрын
Why did you not just test it at normal temps with out the Hair dryer?
@Jeffreviews4u4 жыл бұрын
I was trying to demonstrate the cooling potential - that being said you make a good point. I'll be sure to incorporate ambient temperature if similar items are posted. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

It still feels warmer than what it says cause its measuring the surface temperature not the air

I've been thinking that lately. Do you know of a device that measures air temperature and not the surface? I'd like to use it for the next installment of the arctic air.

Will it cool from 72 to 70? It’s much easier to cool very hot air so this misses the issue.

This will not change the temperature in a room all that much. It is really only intended to make you a little cooler. Freeze the filter and use use water for best results. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I have checked almost every one reviewing the Arctic Air. Everyone is testing this thing in a LARGE area. It clearly states it's for small areas. We own semi trucks that need ac at night. (small space) I need to know if this will work in a SMALL area and last 8 to 10 hours like it says. Common sense will tell you that it isn't going to work in large areas. If anyone can tell me this I would greatly appreciate it.
