this video was very much needed. magnus is the strongest character in shadowhunters imo. it’s not just his magic and hundreds of years of age that make him seem strong but how he’s always there to help. this video is everything that i’ve thought about magnus put into 4 minutes and 42 seconds of music and clips. magnus cares for everyone so much because he actually cares, not because it’s for work. he wants to help whoever he can, and when his magic was taken away he thought his ability to contribute to people’s lives was gone, too. magnus was very complex to read at first, but by the third season you see how much he just cares for everyone and it’s beautiful. magnus bane is truly a brave, powerful, and wholehearted man.

The most beautiful thing about Magnus is despite going through so much in life, centuries of pain and heartbreak, of loves and losses, of his personal trauma and betrayal of others, the treatment of Clave and all the wars he had lived through, his heart remains pure. He remains kind, generous, compassionate, brave, selfless, empathetic and self-sacrificing. Like hell, he gave up his powers (which we know is a huge part of him) for Jace and subjected himself to be trapped in Edom in order to save everyone else. Alec is right, Magnus is incredible.

Honestly, the most emotional thing I ever had to deal with in this show, was when Magnus lost his powers, Like I balled my eyes out at almost every scene, because I know all of us love him so much, and him saying that he's not worth it, that he's ugly and horrible without his magic just made me so upset. Hey, just wanted to know that I'm fully sobbing, no joke, this was sooooooooooooooooo emotional and beautiful, it really was another masterpiece but I think this was more important, at least to me, because he's my favorite character and it hurts so much to see him sad and with everything that he's been through is so incredible that he's still allowing himself to be good, kind and to love, to protect, because that's him, that's who he is, and you! really! did! that! I love Magnus. He and Alec are my joint favourite characters. Magnus is powerful, wise, strong, kind, generous, caring, selfless, loving, brave, protective, always wiling to help, funny, deep, complicated and is the hero we all need but the world doesn't deserve. The rest of the gang don't appreciate him enough and take him for granted. Other than Alec i don't recall many times when any of them even thanked him for his help/advice/wisdom. He's always there with the answers, with a plan, ready to risk is life to save others. Rarely cares about his own safety if it meant saving Alec and even when hurt by or angry at Alec he will put that aside to be there for him when Alec really needs him. He and Alec are so alike in a lot of ways. Both willing to sacrifice everything for the other, even at the cost of their own happiness. Magnus Bane and Alexander Lightwood are THE best characters on TV and together they make the best couple.
